Dog Training

Prompt courteous service, fair priced. Wendy was personable and polite.

I definitely recomend Wendy. I would say she is great at training the dog owner . She doesn't really train the dog, she trains you on how to train your dog. Her techniques are spot on. I still need to work on my loud praising voice . Training my dog, Lucy, is a real challenge but thanks to Wendy we are making progress.! Linda Meade More...

Wow! I am so happy to have found Wendy. I have had other dog trainers in the past and after paying a huge amount of money nothing changed with my dog. From the moment Wendy walked into my house on our first visit my dog became a totally different dog. Wendy taught me several different techniques to use with all his different issues like his barking, jumping, pulling on the leash, and being stressed about being in public places. Walking him is a pleasure now not a battle, and people can come into my house without being barked at and jumped on. I highly recommend Wendy to anyone needing dog training. You won’t be sorry!! The best thing we did for our new puppy was pick Wendy from Leader of the Pack Home Dog Training. As soon as Wendy walked through our door you could tell she had the full respect and attention of our dog. She not only teaches the basic commands, but the psychology and behavior behind having a dog that is well adjusted and respects you as the leader of the pack. She does all this without the use of treats, shock collars, or other gimmicks. We now have a well behaved dog that is fun to have around and who we feel comfortable taking wherever we go. Can't say enough about pleased I am with this program! Our family rescued a little female pit bull pup from a high kill shelter when she was approximately 7 months old. Due to extreme health issues, severe mange, emergency surgery, etc. our vet suggested we not begin any formal training right away as any stress could hinder her recovery progress. I contacted Wendy when Lacey was 11 months old. After interviewing several different trainers,we decided this was the program for us.After only three lessons the progress has been amazing! I already have a dog that I can walk with no pulling on the leash, ignores other dogs barking at her, responds to heel and come commands, just overall generally well-behaved pup. We are working on canine good citizen ship designation. She is such a loving dog that we would like to have her as a therapy pup at Children's Hospital's, Senior centers, etc. This program is as much about training you the owner to truly lead your dog as it is about training the dog itself. It is an amazing feeling to get your life back and be in charge of your dogs; not the other way around. We called Wendy as a last resort, thinking our only alternative was to get rid of one of our dogs. Our story: We have 3 rescue dogs, a male and 2 females, that were adopted at different times. They get along for the most part, but on occasion the 2 girls get into really bad fights, ending with us in urgent care and vet bills in the $500 range each time. Once we had our first child, we knew we couldn't have them fighting any longer, but once it happened, we knew we had a tough choice to make. We couldn't fathom getting rid of one until we did everything we possibly could to try to help the situation, so we decided to invest in professional help.Training: The first thing we noticed about Wendy when entering the house was how she commanded control. She spent time teaching us dog psychology, diet and training techniques for our different needs. We diligently worked with our dogs and saw improvement very quickly. My wife and I became the "leaders of the pack" and our two girls realized they did not have the option to fight over dominance because we were in charge. Additionally, we heeded Wendy's advice about changing the dogs' diet to a healthier option, as well as getting one of our dogs joint vitamins because her arthritis was so bad she could barely put weight on her back legs which made walking virtually impossible. Within a few weeks we noticed a big difference in our dogs' bodies. Fat pockets were disappearing, they were looking leaner, and just acting happier. Our dog with arthritis has pep in her step again, walking around our neighborhood no problem! We're amazed at the improvement in their quality of life (and ours!).It is a wonderful feeling being able to take the three dogs on a walk together with our infant in her stroller and enjoy the moment. We even get compliments from our neighbors at how well-behaved and trained our dogs are!Our favorite part of Wendy's technique is the patience and time she spends with you. She never rushed us to be done with the visit and really wanted to make sure we had exhausted all questions and felt completely satisfied with her training. She even scheduled us a bonus training visit to follow up with our progress with the 3 dogs.Thank you, Wendy! We love having our house back and our 4 legged babies getting along so well! More...

I am very proud of my decision to use leader of the pack for dog training. I have a two-year-old German Shepherd, my main issues with shire were jumping, pulling, barking, and excitement. Wendy explained why my dog acts the way she does, and she was totally right! It's because I was not being a leader, I was letting my dog control me... my dog is honestly my best friend, Wendy didn't change that but she showed me how important it is to lead! Shire changed right away, she is a very stubborn dog but she is extremely smart! Once I started doing what Wendy taught me I could tell right away that Shire understood! It's only been 3 days since Wendy's visit, and all of the things I was worried about have improved drastically! It's all about you as the owner, if you do as she says I believe any dog will change. Wendy is great at what she does, she had a very positive attitude and even though my dog wasn't easy she was very patient! I think it is very important to not use violence towards animals, that is what Wendy is all about. she only uses positive reinforcement, she does not teach to use mean tones or hitting to get your dog to listen. She is all about love, and that's my favorite thing about her. There is truly nothing negative I could say, other than the fact she was late. I understand getting to peoples houses could be difficult because of traffic or whatever else, we made sure we had the whole day dedicated to our dog! I have already recommended Wendy to all my friends, and I recommend you to use her as well:) More...

Wendy's expertise and knowledge was invaluable to us! We had babied our dog out of love for him but we were not being leaders - he was running the house. When our sweet dog began becoming aggressive, we became alarmed and knew we needed someone who was an expert in behavioral strategies. She helped us realize that we could still show our dog the love and affection while being the leader he needed. Wendy was patient and available for questions as we learned to trust the process and put in the consistency needed when she left. The results were amazing! The aggression is gone and he is more obedient than we ever thought he could be. We are planning to hire Wendy again for socialization out in the community because we know the amazing results she is able to help us achieve. We highly recommend her! Horrible experience! Out hundreds of dollars without receiving the training I was promised! She is very unprofessional. She was demeaning and never encouraging . She even forcefully grabbed my arm to show me the right way to hold the leash. She did this more than once. She never came prepared and her training contradicted her own paperwork. If you have children do not hire!!! I wish I had thought that through and researched other trainers regarding children being present while training before hiring her. Our dog is part of a home with children and being able to have them around during training is more realistic of the puppies daily life. I hope this review prevents others from going through the frustration, pain, and loss of money the way we did. More...

We adopted our little Chihuahua mix a month ago from the corona shelter and while she was wonderful inside of our apartment, she was fearful outside, barking and lunging at other dogs as well as people. We have learned so much about how we need to behave and direct her as the pack leaders. We have an 8 yr. old Bichon-Poo who recently lost her best friend, our 14 yr old golden retriever. Before that, she was just spoiled. Since then she had become insecure, anxious, developed separation anxiety, and barked excessively when anyone came to the door. She knew basic commands but was inconsistent and would constantly pull forward on the leash. We used to take our dogs everywhere but could no longer trust Bon Bon to behave. We called Wendy and literally after the first session, she was a new dog! She learned to heel perfectly, as well as sit/down stay reliably. Miraculously she also learned to stop barking and instead, sit in a designated place away from the door when someone rang the bell until she was released to greet the guest. That was a couple of months ago; we are now getting close to being ready for her to take her Canine Good Citizen test and after that, begin preparing for her to become a therapy dog. This weekend we are taking her with us to a hotel with confidence that she will be well behaved.  We are so grateful to Wendy and highly recommend her! More...

My fantastic sister gave me Bark Busters training as a birthday gift, and it was about as good as it gets.  I have an 86 pound dog named Jackson who thought he was in charge--all the time.  He didn't mean to hurt me and my guests, but he did with his jumping and generally out of control behavior.  I was afraid to have people over for fear of injuries--not a good situation....Wendy showed up with all of the right skills and tools to bring both me and my dog around quickly.  She was patient, and is still helping me get the Caesar Milan and PetSmart approaches out of my head--they simply didn't work with my willful 2 year old puppy.  He needed tough love (TOUGH love)....The Bark Busters approach focuses on providing the dog with firm leadership--you initiate EVERYTHING and correct with a growl (a loud, guttural BAH, and/or a quick water squirt in the face) when needed.  Walking on the lead is a pleasure these days.  He no longer jumps up, and will allow guests to enter without the old craziness.  I'm working on lots of praise now to ensure that he comes when called, and making sure that we have lots of fun together every day.  I would highly recommend this program to anyone with a problem dog; we humans can become good leaders for our pups with the right guidance, and I found that in Wendy and the Bark Busters approach.  Thanks so much for your help!!! Wendy is a lifesaver! Literally! I called several trainers about a sweet German Shepherd at the Norco Animal Shelter and she came out the next day and evaluated the dog with our family. ..AT NO CHARGE! This dog had been in 3 homes in the last MONTH and allegedly bit a chihuahua. We were concerned, but Wendy assured us she was a good fit. She didn't charge us for this visit, and she emailed me the next day to see how things were going. I emailed her back with my concerns,  and even texted her with questions at 10pm! She just left our house after the first training session, and I can honestly say that we have seen a dramatic personality change. She isn't restless, whiny, or disobedient. This is after our first 3 hour session. Wendy also helped introduce our kitty to the dog! Bottom line, you can spend $100 for group classes at a store or you can have a pro come to your house, in your natural environment,  and help you. She will evaluate your living situation, and she will make suggestions to make life easier. All we have left to do now is figure out where we can take our pooch and show her off! :) More...

Q&As

Helping people and their pet's have a harmonious bond. Seeing people delighted in the positive changes in their dogs.

Before Wendy became a Master Behavioral Therapist and Dog Obedience Trainer in 2007, she was the Marketing Director for VCA Animals Hospitals (VCA has over 500 hospitals nation-wide).There she designed the “Animal Shelter Program” where VCA provided free medical care to newly adopted pets in exchange for exclusive referrals from animal shelters.Wendy visited over 80 animal shelters and implemented the program with some of the largest shelters in the country (Houston SPCA, Arizona Humane Society, Humane Society of Silicon Valley, Sacramento SPCA, SPCA of Texas, San Diego Humane Society, SPCA LA, PAWS-Chicago, SPCA Wake County-Raleigh, Humane Society of Broward County to name a few).Wendy also became a member of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators (SAWA).

Seeing the plight of these shelter animals and realizing that behavioral issues are often to blame, Wendy made a dramatic career change, from employed to self employed and began training people and their dogs. Since that time, Wendy has successfully helped hundreds of dogs and their owners throughout the Inland Empire.”Now I can do my part in helping companion animals. I am thankful to say that I have been able to help many people and their canine companions create a happy, healthy bond through canine communication and leadership.” says Wendy.

Holistic, reward based trainer who teaches leadership, so that your dog will WANT to obey you. At your home dog training, because that's where your dog lives and that's where they learn best. I won't take your dog away from you, I will teach you a better way to train your dog, without the use of pinch, choke or shock collars. Once you learn how to provide effective leadership (being a great mentor) and the simple techniques to train your dog, you will be empowered. It's not hard, once you know what to do!
