The Ocean Rooms, Ocean Village Marina, Southampton
Sub-contracted from an award winning design company, Beauty Planet Salon Creation, Lauren was asked to fully design and project manage this Marina-fronted Beauty Salon. The brand new 150sqm, breeze block, concrete based unit was spatially designed to incorporate 5 treatment rooms, office, staff room, wc, and plant room. The brief was to create a monochrome scheme with a high end, luxury feel. Inspiration was taken from Art Deco design and classic Couture fashion houses to deliver a timeless and glamorous design.
Fabrics and finishes were chosen to add texture and pattern which reflected the high end scheme. The majority of the furniture was custom designed by Lauren and executed to an extremely high standard by our highly skilled joiners. The laser cut porcelain floor boasts a 2 metre wide logo at the entrance, which our highly skilled team installed beautifully.
Spanning 14 weeks from conception through to completion, this project hugely benefitted from the meticulous attention to detail in terms of design and project delivery.
The Ocean Rooms opened in November 2015 and already has a discerning number of returning clients.
Studio 6, Hayling Island
The building was a 60sqm, 1940’s dis-used clothing shop which was in a very bad state of repair. The brief was to convert it into an ultra modern barbers and tattoo studio, eluding the feel of a ‘man cave’, providing customers with entertainment and stimulating surroundings. Mirror TV’s were installed in front of the barbers chairs to occupy the customers and a custom made child’s Bugatti car fits the brief of child satisfaction.
Bespoke Jack Daniels bottle wall lights and a custom made scissor clock adorn the walls to add interest and light. The overhead joinery provides symmetry to the uniquely designed floor, which has a quirky twist on traditional barbershop flooring. Hidden lighting was used throughout to create interest and atmosphere. Other custom made pieces include the 3.2 meter bench seat, touch screen computer technology for accessing tattoo artwork, media screen with graphically designed logo, embroidered logos on the backs on the barber chairs, engraved razor stands, Jack Daniels spray bottles, skull vinyl flooring, logo embossed leather folders, a box framed silver bison skull and a powder coated V12 Mercedes engine coffee table which has ‘Studio 6’ laser etched onto the glass top and blue hidden lighting.
Since opening in March 2015, Studio 6 has built up a large customer base and is entered into various 2016 Design Awards.
Diamonds Beauty Rooms, Waterlooville
A well established Beauticians which has been operating from it’s current premises for over 25 years. Lauren undertook the refurbishment design to add further treatment rooms and a manicure area. Inspiration was taken from nature, using natural wallcoverings and planting. The treatment rooms offer a touch of glamour with recessed crystal chandeliers that bounce light and reflections onto the ceiling and gold textured walls.
Since the refurbishment, Diamonds Beauty Rooms has received an increased footfall and subsequent turnover increase.
Island Harbour Marina Spa resort
Lauren was asked to design a 2660sqm leisure complex situated at Island Harbour Marina on the Isle of Wight. The waterfront complex consists of an indoor swimming pool, spa and tapas bar with rooftop bar and outdoor cinema. the marina fronted location warranted a building that appreciates the beautiful river views, therefore the 70- meter glazed marina elevation captures it's unique setting. The 9 meter wide veranda cantilevers over the marina, ensuring the resort's clients feel like they are really in touch with nature. Lauren designed the conceptual architecture of the building as well as the interior spatial layout and furniture, finishings and fittings.
Design inspiration came from the organic form, with tree trunk poser tables and timber clad walls. Copper light fittings bounce reflections, whilst ribbon lighting allows light to penetrate. Context of the resort's location is appreciated in the oversize, historical marina image, creating a feature wall in the Tapas Bar. The main reception area uses Armorcoat 'wave' panels and Lauren designed an angled reception desk to resonate feelings of being near the water. island Harbour is currently under construction.
Island Harbour apartments
Lauren was asked to design the layout for the 3 bedroom penthouse apartments and 2 bedroom standard apartments at Island Harbour, Isle of Wight. The furniture and finishes were chosen to reflect the marina location and market selling price. Computer generated visuals were created for our client to market the properties with various agents.
Island Harbour is currently under development.
