Laurel's catering was absolutely the right choice. We were staying in the area, and the hotel we were with offered a partner meal program through Laurel. Absolutely amazing.  Where do I start.  Last June Laurel and Matt catered our "after the wedding BBQ".  The food was out of this world.  Truly, every guest was blown away. We hired Laurel and Matt for a corporate retreat in Napa, and our company will do so again in a heartbeat! Laurel's Catering organized all meals, drinks, wine, and assisted in finding adequate lodging for our group ( as a wonderful courtesy). Laurel also went out of her way to arrange and reserve a beautiful wine tasting for our group at a local winery.  All proposals, pre-planning and execution of the 3 day event was done professionally and with attention to great detail. Laurel surprised us with little unexpected treats along the way, and she truly loved how that made us smile!  The food is absolutely outstanding, and Chef Matt outshines all other events we have catered. FABULOUS! I hired Laurel and Matt to cook a dinner  in celebration of my husband's 60th birthday for our family of 7 adults after a day of winery visits.  Laurel developed a menu of Italian delicacies after discussing my husbands preference in food and Matt executed it to perfection in an unfamiliar kitchen.  We had 5 lovely courses.  Laurel provided the menu in advance and we were able to pair the food with wines from our exploration of some of Napa Valley's wineries. Disappointing.  I asked her for a proposal, she sent me a menu.  I asked for a price, she sent me a confusing list of price ranges and additional fees.  I gave her my absolute all-inclusive budget (service, fees, taxes, gratuity) and asked if she could do something within this limit.  She drafted a menu that looked fantastic at exactly my maximum price point.  I accepted her proposal and sent refusals to all the other caterers I contacted.  <br><br>I waited 10 days for a final contract and instead received an email which stated the contract was in-process "at the same price point we discussed (without gratuity)".  I email to confirm that the price included gratuity.  She responds that they simply cannot do our event within that budget?  What?  As a result I decided not to work with them.  In the subsequent days I received several texts and numerous phone calls to change my review. We came to Napa from San Diego and hired Laurels catering for our New Year's Eve dinner and it was also my friends 30th birthday. Sadly, Laurel was not feeling well and didn't want to get us sick but she left us in great hands with her colleague Justin.<br><br>Before I get to the part about dinner, let me say that Laurel was extremely responsive and professional. She was so easy to work with! She was so great about providing menu ideas and other details along the way (cake, decor NYE, etc)<br><br>Dinner itself was so tasty. Most of us were stuffed from eating and drinking wine all day and Justin was kind enough to box it up for us. We started with a beautiful cheese and cracker spread followed by tray passed small bites both packed with flavor. Then we sat down for the main courses starting with wild mushroom soup, salmon tarts and perfect filet with roasted veggies. We had a grapefruit palate cleanser then concluded with dessert. Recently our company had a 3 day sales meeting event in Calistoga,  and we requested Laurel's Catering to handle breakfast, lunch and dinner (and all snacks and appetizers in between! ) for all 22 of our staff and extended guests at a private estate.<br>From the beginning, Laurel organized and handled all aspects of the menu planning, providing specific attention to detail with personalized meals, activities, beverages, wine selection and more.  Laurel also arranged a special private tasting at a local winery.  Let's just say that leaving all of this planning and organization to such great hands was wonderful!  We always felt listened to and taken care of.  <br><br>The food, well let's just say Matt is outstanding.  All of our guests raved and could not contain their appreciation for the fantastic, fresh, hearty, healthy, savory and sweet! It was a whirlwind to our tastebuds! We hired Laurel &amp; Matt to cater a birthday party at our new home. They were exceptional from the first phone call and until the very end. The service and attention to details were superb!  Laurel thought of things ahead of time &amp; worked with me daily over the phone .  The food was delicious - all my guests enjoyed the BBQ sliders, chicken, salads, appetizers! I was in contact with Laurel inquiring about catering for a Wedding in Stinson Beach, CA. Despite the distance and the fact that it was an outside event, I was really impressed with Laurel's Can-do attitude! In addition, I had contacted 4 other catering business in and around Stinson Beach and not one of them picked up the phone! Laurel, on the other hand, made sure to make time to pick up the phone and have a conversation about my even, concerns, etc. She was honest, kind, understanding, and quick to response. I work for the Hotel Drisco and was charged with finding a caterer for our staff Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.  Bottom line:  for Thanksgiving, the food itself was in the top three Thanksgiving meals I have ever had, an opinion voiced by most of the staff (about 30).   Beyond the quality of the food itself, the detail of the presentation and the service were outstanding in all respects.  Rather than going for a "standard" menu offered by most caterers, we asked for quite a lot of customization.  Some of our requests were specific based on what we wanted to have served while others we simply provided some general ideas and left the magic to Laurel and her staff.  And magic it was.  One example:  we asked to include a custard pie with the dessert offereings.  What we got was a Chess Pie (look it up).  Incredible.  The turkey was moist, the gravy perfect and plentiful, and so on.  The other entree was pork loin with apricots, apples &amp; herbs.  Moist, "porky" goodness, etc.  Tofurkey for our vegan staff.  Oh, and a yam dish with marshmallows that was NOT the usual glop.  The result of Laurel's efforts was mouse-like in texture wtih the marshmallow adding just a very slight and perfect sweetness to the classic flavor of the yams.  Perfection.  <br>The Thasnkgiving staff meal was so good that there was no question about having Laurel back for our staff Christmas party.  This time a standing rib roast cooked to pink perfection, carved in generous portions with a really great horseradish sauce and duck breast were the two entrees.  Juicy, perfectly cooked, a cherry/pomegranate sauce, yum.  Desserts, so good (including homemade Christmas cookies).  <br>Sides for Christmas and Thanksgiving were creative, perfectly cooked, and expertly served.  <br>Cost?  One gets what one pays for.  Is Laurel the least expensive? Nope.  But we were looking for high quality and a great value.  We got it.  Exceptional in every respect.  <br>We would recommend Laurel's Catering for any event from wedding to birthday party to a corporate fucntion where you want to ensure it's culinary success. I was planning an intimate gathering for ten friends, three of whom were celebrating milestone birthdays during the month. The venue was at a 2nd home in San Francisco, so I was not really familiar with caterers in the area. After researching feverishly, and working my way through a list of 15 (highly rated), I came into touch with Lauren and never looked back. From the start her communication, ideas and enthusiasm for my project gave me confidence that I had found the right person.<br>Now that the event is (sadly) over, I truly feel that I discovered a gem....everything from start to finished was above and beyond. Laurel catered our wedding luncheon.  There were some tricky logistics since we were hosting the event at our home, and we had high expectations for the food.  Laurel and Matt and their crew just knocked this out of the park.  From the first meeting we had with Laurel to plan everything through the delicious food they served, to the quick and quiet cleanup while all our guests were still here enjoying themselves, Laurel did everything we asked and more.  She is delightful to work with, her prices are reasonable, and the food is simply amazing.  I am still getting emails about the food from people who have standards as high as mine.  You cannot go wrong hiring Laurel; don't even think twice before hiring her. Half of throwing a great party is the guest list, the other half is great food. Laurel's Catering exceeded my expectations in the food department, while also providing super friendly and professional staff that kept the food coming non-stop. <br><br>It started with Laurel's piece de resistance, Matt's Meatballs. I'm from an Italian American family, and not easily impressed - but these were so delectable and outstanding that even I could not stop myself from feasting and going back for seconds. A huge hit with my guests as well! Another specialty of Laurel's is the Mushroom and Corn Quesadillas, simply divine, and the Chutney and Cheddar Biscuits, and Black Raspberry Chipolte Brie Tarts were out of this world. Not to disappoint the beef lovers in the crowd, and there were many, Laurel whipped up tender Beef en Croute Wellingtons that we will not forget any time soon.<br><br>For someone like myself who comes from a family of great cooks, it's always surprising to find a catering company that can live up to such high standards. One of my guests commented that she "could taste the love" that went into the cooking and preparation, and complimented me on my choice of caterers. Laurel came recommended so I had high expectations for the food and I have to say, they were EXCEEDED . Yes!  I love Laurel and Matt!  I've used Laurel's catering twice this year -- to create the desserts for my daughter-in-law-to-be's bridal shower, and to do a complete luncheon for 20 girlfriends on my 50th birthday.  Both times, everything was wonderful.  For the bridal shower, was able to pick up the desserts (strawberry shortcake, and amazing chocolate truffles) the night before and bring to the party myself.  For the 50th birthday, Laurel arrived at my house and assembled the entire feast for us . . . from napkins and drinks right on through to fabulous desserts.  Kind, creative, wonderful service throughout the entire process.  Lovely!  Will use them again the next time I need catering, for certain. We hired Laurel to cater our 15th Anniversary Celebration on October 27th, 2010 at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center.  The event was a fundraiser with appetizers during reception, a family-style meal preceding our presentation, and dessert and coffee served during the program.  The event was attended by nearly 200 people.  We chose Laurel because she had catered a smaller dinner party fundraising event hosted by our partners at Seventh Generation.<br><br>Laurel was great to work with.  Some of our priorities in choosing a caterer included price, flexibility of services, and sustainable business practices, and Laurel's Catering fit all three categories. Laurel went above and beyond to serve the highest quality food, and also helped us connect with vendors for other aspects of our event. She worked closely with us on the menu, and the meal was amazing. <br><br>We had a somewhat complex set up because we did not want to interrupt our program with dinner and we wanted the event to feel elegant so we nixed the idea of a buffet from the start.  Laurel was great and worked with us every step of the way. Laurel recently catered our son's baptism and it was amazing!  We had been to a party she catered and knew she was one to remember.  Laurel was wonderful to work with and put together a fabulous brunch.  Everything was delicious including the tea sandwiches, pearl couscous, bacon and sausage, and salad.  The top favorites were the creme brulee french toast with brioche and cupcakes for dessert.  Laurel is extremely detail oriented, trustworthy and time efficient.  We can't wait to do business with her again! I plan monthly happy hours for my company.  We do a different theme each month, featuring a spirit from our portfolio (I work for an alcohol distributor).  Every month, Laurel amazes me with her creativity!  She created a Midori Margarita frosting for a cake and Flor de Cana Rum dipping sauce for her specialty Coconut Shrimp.  This month she is undertaking the task of my newest special request--Pineapple Upside Down Cupcakes!   Her proposed menus always look fabulous!  If I ever need to tweak the menu, she is more than responsive.  <br><br>I must be honest and tell you that I have never used her staff on-site for service.  Our parties are standing appetizers and do not require much attention.  However, Laurel always arrives prepared and on time, and sets the area up beautifully.  I know that once she's arrived, I can turn my attention to other areas of the event because she has got her part under control.  I swing past her as she's finishing for last minute instructions and I'm set.  She returns to pick up any platters, chafing dishes, etc and is always eager to hear our response.  I have had nothing to report except rave reviews!<br><br>She and her partner, Matt, are so friendly and down-to-earth.  They know good food, enjoy good food, and prepare good food.  The quality, originality, and obvious care that goes into their work makes recommending Laurel's Catering a pleasure.  I can't wait until our next party....  Those cupcakes and some more Coconut Shrimp! Delicious creativity is a key to Laurel's success. <br>Crispy duck rolls with a raspberry chipotle dipping sauce. <br>Guatemalan elotes. <br>Leek caramelized onion &amp; fig tarts.<br>But Laurel's ability to cook up wonders is only one benefit you get from working with Ms. Timms, or at least attending an event that she's catered.<br>Having a behind-the-scenes look at Laurel working on a wedding, I saw this caterer beyond compare in action: scheduling, planning but above all, listening. <br>Laurel listened to both the wedding planner's and the bride's wants and needs. She helped shape a menu with original creations and local California staples for a wedding party largely from out-of-town.<br>Laurel understood the drama that comes with a wedding &amp; met our group's needs and diffused situations with spontaneous solutions. Oh, and to battle a bayside wedding windstorm while using her arms, legs and chin to keep the food from flying away - and onto the whole bridal party.  And, lastly, I needed her to represent about 15 different countries through the food AND to help me organize all of it even though I live in Chicago and couldn't meet up with her at all - even for a tasting.  I'm lying, actually she had to mail the tasting - to the bride in Colorado.  And the bride couldn't meet her until the day of either.  In fact, the bride couldn't really even speak to her until the week before, so Laurel also was required to read the bride's mind.<br><br>For a merely mortal caterer, this might all be insane and impossible.  But Laurel and chef Matt McNally did it all, ALL - ALL I tell you- with grace and total professionalism. <br><br>One of my favorites was their marinara sauce, which just seems stupid, because it is something that is usually just phoned in and unnoticed, but - Spicy, chunky, fresh - it was awesome!  And get the fried risotto balls - trust me, everyone raved.  Ooh, and also some kind of fig tart - Jee-zus!<br><br>I'm not a pro wedding planner. Hell, I've only even been to like two other weddings in my life - more like 1 1/2.  I was just helping out a friend who couldn't plan it all herself.  But I can tell you this: Laurel's Catering says they are all about "personalized service." That doesn't even come close to describing it all - This girl does miracles -  AMAZING! More...
