Laura is the BEST. Finding a photographer for our wedding was one of the most important things to me - photos are one of the only things you get to keep to remind you of your day after it has come and gone. I looked at lots of different photographers and spoke with 5 different people and I knew immediately when I talked to Laura and saw her work that she was the perfect fit for us.Laura is not only insanely talented, but she is also incredibly sweet and fun to work with. My husband and I legit had a blast doing our first look and taking photos before our wedding. Laura has a talent for understanding people. She gets to know you really quickly and is really good at picking up on what you like. She scouted out locations for our photos that were exactly what we were looking for without us even knowing it! She makes you feel comfortable behind the camera and is great at giving direction without making you feel posed. She is also great at wrangling family and friends; my husband's family is huge and she managed to get them all to cooperate for lots of family photos that turned out beautifully. My now husband and I were referred to Laura by a friend and we are SO happy we found her! She shot our wedding  (October 2018) and our engagement photos (May 2018) this passed year and we couldn't be happier with them! Not only is Laura amazingly talented, but she is also an absolute doll to work with and so easygoing! I get very uncomfortable in photos and she made me feel right at ease. Every time I look through our photos I smile and they bring back all the memories of our day!  We didn't hire a videographer which I regretted at first, but after looking through our photos I feel like we didn't need the video because Laura was that good at capturing every moment! I talked to a number of different photographers for our wedding before I sat down with Laura, and I immediately knew she was the right fit for us. I'm notoriously camera shy and the thought of being photographed all day during my wedding was flipping me out. But Laura had such a calm demeanor and a sense of fun about the whole thing. She has great energy and I knew she'd be a blast to shoot with. Her 'documentary style' portfolio was also really exciting to me. All the photos felt so natural and laid back while still being so gorgeous and perfectly lit. On the day, she was a fabulous creative force but was also such an amazing photo ninja. There were so many awesome photos I had no idea she even took! All of my friends/bridesmaids who had their photos done by her that day have said they want her to shoot their weddings, too! She's very hardworking and has such an amazing eye and way with people. Laura is an incredible photographer! My now-husband and I began planning our wedding from a different state, and Laura was quick, prompt, and very accommodating when it came to "e-meeting" us via Skype for an initial chat to talk about our wedding and what to expect. We loved the photos we saw in Laura's portfolio before meeting with her, and talking with her just solidified our decision to pick her as our photographer on the big day. She described her style at work, which was non-intrusive and thoughtful, which we loved, particularly being in a wedding party full of nerds and introverts! On the wedding day, Laura was an absolute master at herding people around for photos, thinking up creative ideas for shots and angles, and working quickly and, again, thoughtfully as she kept our timeline in mind throughout the day. Our wedding was just over a week ago, and she sent us several previews just a few days after the wedding that had us in awe. My husband, who was perhaps the most camera-phobic of us all, had a huge smile on his face as he was going through the preview shots she sent us and commented on how great Laura was. After the wedding, I had a few guests comment to me on how impressed they were with Laura's "ninja-like" skills at the event -- she had a great sense of where to be and when, so she was able to capture so many great shots. We booked Laura for our August wedding and we are so glad we did. First of all, she's got such a friendly and warm energy that she makes posing for photos fun. Not stiff or posed, she makes it feel natural and brings out your personality. She's super organized and consults with you in advance on a comprehensive list of all the people you want to get photos with, and then thoroughly checks off the list throughout the course of the day. Booking Laura Ford as our photographer was the best wedding decision we made!  I initially thought I didn't care that much about my wedding photos and I just wanted to make sure that we got the essential shots.  But once I started researching and talking to different photographers, I realized that: (1) even people with zero photography knowledge like me can see big differences between wedding photographers' finished product; and (2) it is just as important that your photographer create beautiful pictures as it is for them to have a positive and supportive, yet assertive, presence that will make you and your friends and family feel comfortable on a chaotic day while also making sure to get all the shots you want.  Laura is all of these things and her photos are just incredible.  Laura and her assistant at my wedding, Todd, were super professional and smart but also had the best attitudes ever.  We were on a tight timeline, had very large wedding parties and families, and had a lot of different shots we really cared about getting.  Laura was in control the whole time to basically herd cats for our posed shots, and she and Todd discreetly moved around the ceremony and reception to get amazing candid shots of us and our guests in her beautiful and unique style.  From distracting the kids to keep them from running to their parents taking posed pictures, to taking what has been unanimously dubbed the best picture ever of my husband's 95-year-old grandma (on the dance floor), Laura is just the best.  We are truly blown away by our photos and everyone who sees them agrees.  She captured the day perfectly and added to it with her awesome personality!  Thank you Laura Ford Photos! Laura is amazing. We've only gotten a small package of our photos back and they look incredible. I'll update this when we get them all. First of all, she's a breeze to work with. She's sweet and lovely. She kept the kids (there are a lot in our family) entertained and kept the adults smiling. She nailed the entire list we gave to her ahead of time of what shots we wanted and I know she snapped a ton of candid shots that are going to be amazing. Her pictures speak for themselves so I won't speak to them here. What I will say are the things that are super important to me:1. She took the time to try to learn everyone's names, there are 30 in our immediate families and she was doing a great job and remembering people.2. She is just fun. It's so much better to work with someone who you genuinely enjoy being around. I've taken my fair share of headshots over the years and I wish I knew about Laura back then. I know, from our sample size and our conversations that night, that she was spending the time to figure out what was important to us.3. She dresses nice. It's always so weird to me when you hire someone to come to your wedding and they show up in some ratty outfit they scraped off their floor that morning. She blended in with the group...it's so important. And now that I've implanted this into your brain you'll forever notice the vendors who screw up this, seemingly, easy task.4. It was in the mid-90's. Super hot. It was even humid...which was not fair. So she kept things moving, she made sure to take the temperature of the people she was shooting (not literally) and move on from one group to the next when it was clear that the heat was dragging someone down.5. She brought her sister as a 2nd shooter. I don't know how often that happens or even what we paid for it, but I feel as though I should mention that her sister was also wonderful, sweet, and well dressed (it's really a sticking point for me.) 6. My entire family complimented us on our choice, saying how wonderful she was and how nice it was to see her smiling when not shooting. She never gave any impression other than that she was very happy to be there.7. She really seemed to understand our wants.8. The test shots are gorgeous. Okay, I said I wouldn't talk about the pictures but just real quick, she made me look good. My wife always looks amazing but I looked good once in 1995 and I haven't looked good since that day. Yet, somehow she made me look good. Maybe even great!9. All of my friends are comedians (not in the "they're funny" sense, I mean they all go on stage and say funny things at people) and she dealt with us with aplomb despite the overwhelming confluence of larger than life personalities. 10. So many wonderful things to say about Laura! I was so comfortable from the first minute we met! She shot a beautiful engagement shoot of my husband and I at the Union Station in LA. All the pictures were flawless, it was so hard to pick my favorite one. Communication with Laura was easy and she was very responsive. The day of the wedding was perfect. Everything ran smoothly. Laura really took control, however she was never aggressive or pushy. She was able to share with me some of the shots from the wedding and they were nothing but AMAZING!!! Laura is the best! Our wedding took place in Topanga Canyon, but we live in Boston so it was important to us that our vendors were easy to work/plan with remotely. Laura was so responsive over email, quick to set up phone calls when needed, and we trusted her immediately -- even across the country.Laura obviously takes amazing photos (you can check that out on her website), but I think her biggest value add is in her personality. She is so pleasant to be around, and got along with all of our guests, family, and vendors. I wasn't great about knowing which pictures I wanted taken (of people, things, etc.) and she just jumped in there and took every shot I didn't know I wanted. I didn't have to give her any direction at all. Also, I was pretty nervous about having all of the attention on me on my wedding day, and she did a great job of guiding my husband and I through pictures (but not too much), in a really comfortable way. It's also worth noting that the Laura's assistant also had an amazing attitude (she was smiling ALL day) and took great photos! Laura is simply incredible.I spent a lot of time looking at galleries on wedding photographers' sites, and what drew me to Laura was how her photos made me feel. I'd be looking at a complete stranger's wedding and getting teary eyed. Her work is beautiful. When we met her in person for a consultation, we were completely sold. She's so sincere and sweet and calm - the exact type of person you want to have around on your wedding day!On the day of, Laura and Sarah (her sister and second shooter) were on time and super organized. We walked all over the Arts District in the July heat, and they were so good at finding the perfect spots for pictures. During the wedding, they made us and our guests feel comfortable and were totally stealthy and inconspicuous.And the pictures themselves! Oh my god! Laura has an uncanny ability to photograph the tiny details and moments that you'd never think of as photo-worthy but that end up becoming your absolute favorite pictures. I have tons of amazing pictures with my husband and our families, but I also have beautiful pictures of all of our guests, the venue, and all the small details we worked so hard on. Laura and Alejandra are seriously the sweetest people around. As a wedding coordinator, I love when my couples spend the extra time to vet and really choose vendors carefully and well to make sure their special day is truly amazing. I'm so happy Michelle + Mark chose Laura! Her work is clean, gorgeous and most of all she captures the radiant feelings and the love into a beautiful picture. I was SO excited to work with them as soon as I got some sneak peaks of our couple's engagement session. Working with Laura the day of the wedding was the absolute best. Getting high quality photos was super important to us so we looked at a ton of photographer websites in our search. We also wanted someone that was easy to work with that would capture everything without being obtrusive. Laura was an absolute delight to work with! We found her through the recommendation of a co-worker and she had just the style we were looking for. Our photos have a bright, happy look to them with just the right mix of posed and candid shots. Laura suggested things to us throughout the day and was very efficient when it came to getting family photos done. We ended up with 1200+ shots and love every one of them! It is impossible to overstate how much we LOVE Laura Ford! Photography was one of the most important parts of our wedding, so we started searching for a great photographer early in our wedding-planning process. We loved Laura's photojournalism style: from her portfolio, we saw that she's great at capturing fleeting candid moments that encapsulate the joy of the day. We also loved how her photos were not heavily filtered. Her photos looked fresh and modern, yet paradoxically also timeless and classic. We knew we wanted to have Laura as our photographer, so we set up a meeting with her before booking our venue. Within ten seconds of meeting her, we knew she was the one. She was so warm, fun, friendly, and approachable, but still extremely professional. Some wedding vendors can make you feel like you're just going down a factory production line with no personal interest, but Laura wasn't like that at all. She showed genuine interest in us and made us feel valued. We did an engagement shoot with Laura so that we could get to know her style better and get comfortable posing for photos together. We found a somewhat secluded area of Griffith Park that had a variety of backgrounds, and spent two hours there. Laura immediately put us at ease when we began the photo shoot. By the end, we realized that we had been laughing a lot and having fun. She very promptly gave us a couple of sneak-peek photos, and then sent the entire set of photos soon after. We were so thrilled with her photos! Laura then asked us to tell her our favorite photos to give her an idea of styles to focus on for the wedding day, which was a nice touch.Before the wedding, Laura gave us a very thoughtful questionnaire, which reaffirmed to us just how organized and professional she is. The questionnaire asked for a range of information, such as members of the wedding party, vendor names, a list of requested photos (e.g., high school friends, individual shots with parents, etc.), the wedding-day timeline, etc. In keeping with our entire experience with Laura up to that point, she came to the bridal getting-ready location on time and completely prepared (her assistant, Todd, did the same for the groomsmen). Seeing her again on the wedding day was like seeing an old friend rather than a vendor. She was so personable with everyone and got straight to work taking photos without being intrusive. At the wedding venue, she continued to be impossibly present at all places, capturing all moments, seeing all opportunities for an interesting angle or background. We felt completely relaxed with her, and from the first few sneak-peek photos we've seen, we are so confident that Laura Ford was the best photographer for our wedding. I'd be looking at a complete stranger's wedding and getting teary eyed. Her work is beautiful. When we met her in person for a consultation, we were completely sold. She's so sincere and sweet and calm - the exact type of person you want to have around on your wedding day!On the day of, Laura and Sarah (her sister and second shooter) were on time and super organized. We walked all over the Arts District in the July heat, and they were so good at finding the perfect spots for pictures. During the wedding, they made us and our guests feel comfortable and were totally stealthy and inconspicuous.And the pictures themselves! Oh my god! Laura Ford was a major factor in making our wedding absolutely perfect, and we can't advise you strongly enough to allow her to do the same for yours. She is professional, creative, caring, patient, persistent, a joy to work with, really really smart and resourceful - and did we mention she's an amazing photographer? Every aspect of our experience with her was perfect. Rather than provide a run-through of the day, here are some highlights: 1) She understands the nuances of the event. For example, next to our chuppah, we had a table with photos of our late grandparents. In several key moments, she pulled out just enough to include them, without our having to mention it. 2) She finds tiny details that others don't see - whether an alcove in a wall, a pattern in a carpet or a view of a guest through the flames of a fireplace - that elevate the photos to the level of art, while avoiding clichés.3) She provided two  assistants, one of which was her very talented sister, Sarah! Sarah used an actual non-digital film camera to give us variety (only after making sure we were okay with that).4) She covers everything and everyone. Somehow, she managed to shoot all our guests, most with shots that totally captured their individual personalities. 5) Before the wedding, we told her we wanted to replicate several staged photos from the groom's parents' wedding album. She stored the original shots on her camera, grabbed us throughout the day and directed us into perfect replicas of all of them. She even found a dial telephone that happened to be at the venue, which she used to replicate a photo with a telephone in it! 6) We are not the most photogenic people in the world, yet she was able to take shot after shot that captured us at our best. As the bride, I was very nervous about how I would look in the pictures, but Laura and Sarah somehow captured my personality and I couldn't have been happier with the end result! 7) We discovered that wedding photography involves getting mushy in front of the camera - something we weren't used to. She made us feel comfortable and got us beyond our camera-shyness, giving us many great smooching and nuzzling shots from which to choose. 8) She was totally collaborative, brainstorming with us and making sure to ask us what we wanted before the wedding, and executing it during the wedding. 9) Her photos just pop; the subject matter, composition, colors, lighting and focus all coming together to create images that capture the emotion of the day. 10) We could go on and on, but we'll end with one final point. We're sure there are many talented photographers out there, but what stood out about Laura was this: Rather than create a slick by-the-numbers record of a typical wedding, she intuitively grasped what made our wedding unique and captured it on film, giving us and our family and friends the opportunity to relive the actual experience over and over again. Laura and Alejandra are seriously the sweetest people around. As a wedding coordinator, I love when my couples spend the extra time to vet and really choose vendors carefully and well to make sure their special day is truly amazing. I'm so happy Michelle + Mark chose Laura! Her work is clean, gorgeous and most of all she captures the radiant feelings and the love into a beautiful picture. I was SO excited to work with them as soon as I got some sneak peaks of our couple's engagement session. Working with Laura the day of the wedding was the absolute best. Choosing Laura as our photographer was such an easy choice for us to make. As an art director and former wedding coordinator, I already knew what to look for in a photographer: friendly, responsive, organized, bright & easy documentary style, and someone my husband and I could have a drink with. Moreover, we needed someone who could travel between Chicago and Orange County. We really wanted our engagement photos in Chicago, our beloved home and city, but we also wanted the same photographer to shoot our wedding in CA. We were so happy to find that Laura regularly travels between both locations!

Laura's kind, laid-back demeanor immediately put us at ease in front of the camera. My husband and I are typically uncomfortable in front of the camera, but she helped us live in the moment and let our walls down—which made for much better photos (engagement and wedding)! During our wedding, Laura kept a close eye on our day-of itinerary and helped us stay on track without making us or our bridal party feel rushed. She was patient during our family photos, and was almost invisible throughout the day while she captured our wedding. Our family members and guests raved about how refreshing it was to attend a wedding where the photographer just let them enjoy the wedding.
