Building itself is lovely and the common spaces (the bar, breakfast room, sitting rooms etc) are very nice and well decorated. The reception and and bar staff were warm and friendly but we found the style of the breakfast staff a little cold and slow to bring around the coffee - very important in the morning of course! We ended up seeing two rooms as the heating was broken in our first room and the staff dealt with that really well helping us move into another room quite late at night. Rooms were nice and fairly equipped, could be a little more generous with the towels. More...

Attended our nephew's wedding there last week. Could not fault the venue, wedding ceremony went off without a hitch, apart from one of our niece's baby's shouting out when the registrar asked if anyone knows why the couple should not be wed! The views from the garden are fantastic and the food at the wedding breakfast was first rate. Evening disco was enjoyed by everyone, only minor point was the bar prices, but suppose that is to be expected in a hotel of that quality. More...

Lovely hotel very relaxing in the lounges, food very good some staff very pleasant. while others are very short of customer training. Had course to complain as room 80 we were in had staff rooms above that were quite noisy at times. Service is the one thing that lets this hotel down. Staff very slow to react. Otherwise we had 2 lovely days in bowness More...

I recently stayed here on a quick visit to see my brother. We arrived a little earlier than check in time, so thought we'd grab a cup of tea whilst we wait. Upon arrival the receptionist was very abrupt and told us we could not check in until 3pm, which we already knew. The fact that she didn't check if the rooms were ready, was a little annoying but we didn't expect to check in early anyway. She ushered us towards the bar area and we had a drink after the long car journey. We decided to go for a walk to kill some time and obviously the scenery is beautiful. The hotel sits opposite the lake, it had snowed and it looked beautiful in the sun.

At check in, we spoke with another lady who was really lovely. She even upgraded our rooms to garden view! We were in room 3. The rooms were clean but a little noisy. The doors from other rooms were slamming quite loudly through the night. Luckily I was shattered so it didn't keep me awake.

The breakfast in the morning was buffet style and they had all kinds of cereal, fruit and juice available. The cooked breakfast was ok. On the whole, nice start to the day.

Lovely hotel. The building itself is a grand spectacle, the architecture is lovely and the grounds around the hotel are stunning. Room I stayed in was spacious and provided all the comfort I needed. The room and bathroom were immaculate. The bath is a decent size, with very powerful running taps and plenty of warm water. The only two downsides to the room: Couldn't find a way to adjust the heat in the room (we just put the desk fan provided on to cool the air and we could have asked reception) and the shower can be too powerful, and could hurt your skin if you are not careful. On the whole, two very minor issues. The staff have been friendly right from the start, the food has been lovely and the hotel is very spacious with copious amounts of space to relax and enjoy a drink. More...

At the hotel for a wedding, lovely views across the lake and stunning hotel. A rather rickety old lift but only 2 flights of stairs is doable for most without breaking a sweat. Through recommend when staying in the Lake District! More...

We got married at Belsfield last year. This year we went back for our first anniversary. They made it special by upgrading us to a lake view room, with chocolates and a card. The service was first class, the food was amazing and the room was beautiful. Definitely will visit again and would recommend to anyone. More...

Stayed st the Belsfield hotel for my brother-in-laws wedding. The room where we stayed was lovely, beautiful views of the lake and pretty comfortable.
My criticism was hanging space was limited and not much room to negotiate around the bed and into the bathroom. Breakfast was also really good.
We booked on Expedia as it worked out cheaper.
As a wedding venue this place was fantastic... helpful staff... amazing food and nice suite to end the night with.
All in All, a really nice hotel and really would recommend.

Loved the social areas of the hotel most - relax and spend some time in the bar and lounge - beautiful areas! We stayed on an offer with cream tea and prosecco which was delicious - warm scones and we had the prosecco just before dinner. The room was very comfortable - standard double so no lake view but a nice room with all the facilities we needed and a modern bathroom with bath. Like little touches like the jar of sweets in the room. Dinner was good but we have had better at similar hotels in the area, and £15+ for a main was reasonable. Breakfast buffet style but seemed well cooked and replenished regularly. Staff polite and helpful. Overall very likely to visit again for cream/afternoon tea, may stay again if in the area. More...
