When we got our new Shiba Inu puppy (Norman) we was not prepared for the nervous little land shark that we found we had. Before our session Norman would not come near anyone in our home and was terrified of new experiences. After just a single session with Landela Dogs we was put to ease with Thuli's approach and how well our puppy reacted to her. She also provided tailored reports and signs for our house to help visitors approach Norman in the best way.

Norman is coming up to a year now and we have continued 1-1 sessions as well as two grades of puppy class. Throughout our journey Thuli has helped us with various behaviours (general nervousness, loose-lead walking, recall, biting, car issues, muzzle training and crate training) and taught us how to train great obedience and basic agility skills.

I cannot recommend Landela Dogs enough.

I can highly recommend Landela Dogs. Luna was terrified of walking even a short distance from home; she would sit trembling and refuse to move. Thuli worked with equal measures of patience and enthusiasm and is a natural with dogs. Luna is now far more confident and we are enjoying walking together, something I thought would never happen. Thanks to Thuli’s excellent advice, we have developed a much better relationship with Luna and she is far more responsive to us. I just wish I had discovered Landela dogs sooner. More...

Common Sense & No Nonsense Approach! In just a short meeting with Thuli, she changed my approach and expectations of our chihuahua's behavior. She did a great job of putting everything into perspective for me and helping me understand not only how to communicate my expectations to my dog but to help me understand her needs and wants. Her follow-up report and explanations have been incredibly useful. My only regret is not having more time to train with Thuli! More...

I was having real issues with my baby Frenchie and seperation. After one traumatising day for both me and my pup I thought he would NEVER be able to spend time alone. .. and then came Thuli! Not only was she completely understanding, my pup loved her. Explaining what his behaviours meant, and understanding the reasons and expectations to get little Bubba where he needed to be. Over the past 4 days I have practiced her teachings and he is excelling! I can’t believe the progress he is making, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the tools and confidence Thuli gave me. Really proud to say after a short period of time I just left my puppy alone for 10 minutes without any protest whatsoever and on my return he was sleeping. I can’t thank or recommend her more highly. We had a session with Thuli the day after we brought our very first puppy, Veer, a male cocker spaniel, home. She was such great help and really set us off on the right tracks. After that we had many sessions with her, and we got so much out of each session - whether it was for basic training and commands, to addressing separation anxiety and guarding behaviour. It became quickly obvious that most of the training was mainly for us humans than for Veer. She always took the time to explain things and was very caring towards Veer!Thuli was always able to see the small things in our behaviour which sent mixed signals to Veer and was able to help us communicate with him much more clearly. We think anyone who has a dog should spend some time with Thuli, and we have been recommending her to every single dog owner we know! We will definitely keep working with Thuli in the future to keep up our training! More...

It's was so helpful to have all aspects of his behaviour and ways to change his behaviour explained so clearly. We are already seeing really positive changes in his behaviour, so I really am very grateful for your visit and all your help and advice!

One of our dogs has an extremely high prey drive and after chasing a few too many squirrels, foxes and cats and the occasional horse, we decided enough was enough. Thuli visited our home and got to know our dogs and our issues. We were impressed with her insight and communication. She took us all out for a walk, introduced us to a long leash, and used treats and verbal and physical cues to manage his stimulation levels and direct his behaviour. The effect was immediate - even during that first walk, he was noticeably calmer and more attentive to us.He's still not perfect, but walkies are noticeably more enjoyable now.It felt like hiring Thuli was a relatively big outlay but overall it was a great investment, and we've all learnt a lot! Thanks Thuli! More...

Thuli has a remarkable way with dogs - and she's pretty brilliant with humans too! Our young retriever can be quite difficult - she can be anxious and aggressive. But Thuli's advice has really helped. We have learnt so much - and our dog absolutely loves her. Thanks Thuli. We feel really lucky to have found you. More...

Thuli came to us voluntarily for 2 weeks to help with our street dog neutering programme in Dryanovo, Bulgaria. Street dogs are often scared of people and new experiences so catching them is a major issue. The next problem is some dogs cannot return to the streets due to illnesses or other problems. Thuli has been incredibly professional and helpful. The first day we went out and caught a mother and two 6 month old puppies. They had fear aggression and one of the puppies did bite us. Within 3 days she had gained their full trust and had them all walking on leads. After a year of working on our neutering programme we have never made progress as quick as this! Thuli has also worked with 5 other frightened puppies, again gaining their trust and lead training them.Overall Thuli has been amazing and we wish we could keep her forever! Her enthusiasm, practical support and obvious love for dogs is remarkable. More...

Our family dog Roxy has had a plethora of anxiety-related issues, as well as believing she's higher up in the 'pack' than she is. We all knew that in order to help Roxy we would have to work together to alter our own behaviour, as five people trying their own tactics was nothing short of confusing for her. However we felt a bit lost and confused about what would be beneficial or detrimental, so we reached out to Kate at Landela Dogs.Kate spent time observing Roxy in both the home environment and on a walk. She assessed how we interact with Roxy and then showed us a number of examples in various scenarios (e.g. barking when the doorbell rings, jumping on the sofa, addressing her need to be the centre of attention, then taking her out on a walk to address pulling on the lead and interacting with other dogs - to name but a few!) of how to manage and help to lessen her erratic behaviour. An instant improvement was visible after only a few hours with us. We were all pleasantly surprised! Kate has a real gift and her incredible knowledge of dog behaviour meant that she was even able to address Roxy's more bizarre issues - such as her fixation with door handles and light fixtures. After spending a number of hours with us, Kate then sent through a really detailed report of her observations and methods to help us with Roxy. These were clearly tailored to Roxy's specific issues, as well as her breed (various games for Collies were recommended and have been a great success), as well as highlighting where each of us individually could improve our behaviour and help with commands when we're with Roxy.We have implemented the new schedule which has had excellent results. We now have a much calmer, less anxious Collie and a more relaxed and happy home environment. The personal touch and tailored response from Kate definitely made a significant difference.I'm really looking forward to the follow up session with Kate. Rome wasn't built in a day and I know that there are still a few areas us humans need to persevere with but the mammoth change in such a short amount of time is testament to Kate's brilliant knowledge and understanding of - as well as her passion for - dogs. I truly could not recommend someone more highly for dog (and human!) behavioural training.Thank you Kate. More...

After moving from a quiet country neighbourhood to central London, my 4 year old Yorkie became very aggressive whenever we encountered another dog on the street. This was happening all the time as London is filled with dogs and their owners. Unfortunately, once he started barking, I wasn't able to stop him and it would cause quite a scene.. Thuli was fantastic with him. In our first session, she was able to get him to focus on her instead of the other dogs which eliminated the barking. She was able to show me several techniques to use (depending upon the situation) to change his focus and get him comfortable passing by other dogs.
She has a wonderful way with dogs. Her methods are very positive, gentle and compassionate but at the same time she demonstrates that she is in control not the dog. We have continued to work on socializing my dog in parks and gardens and he is becoming more and more comfortable with his peers. She is an amazing trainer for dog and owner.

We received help from the lovely Thuli a few years ago after we had had no luck with numerous trainers.
Thuli was fantastic! Her super friendly and kind manor (with us and our dog) and her confidence, knowledge and experience was so reassuring.
Thuli is our one and only when it comes to looking after our dog
When we go away also. My husband and I fully recommend her and all her services.

We asked Kate at Landela Dogs for advice when we began our search for a rescue dog that would fit into our family. I've seen Thuli at work with several dogs since I used to live near her and I have been impressed with the way she controls each situation . You know how cats can always sense the one person in the room who's not a cat person? Well with Thuli it's the opposite, the dogs and cats know that she is the most understanding human in the room. If you want a better behaved dog, she's your woman. More...

Very impressed with Thuli's way with dogs. She taught a dominant, aggressive young male Husky-cross how to live peacefully alongside a Labrador bitch and a male cat; and how to interact with unknown dogs out on walks. She improved his recall; got him used to strangers coming into the house. I thoroughly recommend Landela Dogs.
Her calm Labrador Willow is a great side-kick.

Landela dogs does some amazing work not only did they help to get over my unrational fear of dogs but ive also never seen a group of dogs who behave as well or are as happy.

Q&As

Dogs have always been a part of my life, their companionship and loyalty is unrivalled. I love meeting new people and helping them get the most out of their relationship with their dogs.

When I started helping friends and friends of friends with their unruly pooches, they kept saying 'you should charge for this!' So I thought, why not? I spent time and money on training courses and literature and tools and everything else to be as professional and skilled as I could and started Landela Dogs.

I pride myself on clarity and understanding. I often come to people who say 'wow, our first trainer told us to do that but we never understood why, so we didn't realise why it was important.' Communication is the key to everything I do. From my conversations with you, to your commands to your dog, to what your dog is actually trying to communicate to you. Once we're all speaking the same language, everything is easier!
