Stopped in for lunch while out of the office for a meeting. I had 2 slices of pepperoni pizza with a drink for under $6. The pizza slices were big New York style. Crust was thin and crispy. I am a huge Detroit Style Pizza fan: as far Detroit Style pizza goes Buddy's is the number one. I know they are a chain but their quality is generally there and they seem to do a better job than most. The cost for the pizza at La Pizza Via was a little bit high versus what I am used to paying but I did enjoy what I got and it blows away the similar options at either Jets or Little Caesar's (who does have a Detroit Style pizza). This being said, we want to try their Stromboli, and maybe a NY style next time. Who knew that a short twenty minute drive would get us a Detroit style pizza? The high rating and rave reviews made us drive right over and pick up a to go order. Large Detroit style pan pizza with cheese and pepperoni = $18; cut into 8 squares. To look at a Detroit style pizza you think of Little Caesar's. But this isn't fast food pizza.  This is the real deal. No greasy, cheap ingredients here. La Pizza Via starts off with a focaccia crust, cheese that melted over the edges and caramelized, chunky acidic tomato sauce, and pepperoni (or your choice of any toppings that cost extra).  This pizza is very filling and delicious. We called in our order for pick up. Were told it would be ready in 25-30 minutes. Sure enough our pizza was ready when we arrived. Small dining room to the side through a open doorway with a few tables. So this is more than just a carry out location. We went to La Pizza Via today for the first time.  We had read about the restaurant in The Best Of The Fox where it was rated the Best Pizza.  We thoroughly enjoyed our pizza.  Jill was our waitress and also the pizza maker.  She answered all of our questions about the types of crusts offered (and there are many choices) and also about ingredients available on the pizza. We chose the Chicago Crust which was thin and crispy.  The pizza was totally delicious with the perfect amount of cheese and other ingredients.  We chose a large pizza with all cheese, mushrooms, onions and red peppers and half with sausage also. We took home leftovers and we will definitely go back again soon. We have told our adult son about our experience and he plans to go soon. More...

Where else can you go that offers nearly every regional type of pizza from across the country They have NY/New Haven thin crust, Pan pizza with a thicker crust, baked in a square.  Of course Chicago's favorite, cracker thin, cut in squares (many people call it "tavern style)." And what I went for, "Detroit style" which is a square pie, a focaccia like crust, caramelized edges, thick but very airy, cheese and toppings over that, then a few ladles of tomato sauce across the top.I find fault with none of it. It's a hearty, thick tomato sauce from one of the country's premier suppliers to pizzerias. Hand pulled chunks of Italian sausage, flavorful, great texture. Really nice pepperoni, no cupping or charring, and a great cheese blend. (If you want to win me over forever, add thick sliced "Sicilian" (marinated, herbed) green olives!) The shop has an order at the counter arrangement, but an attached dining room. Pastas, calzones, stuffed breads, sandwiches and snacks fill out the menu. Daily specials. Daily slices.It's gonna cost you less than Chicago's regional chains, by 15-20% in my experience. The Detroit takes about 15 minutes in the oven.  They are open seven days and deliver using some of the third party services.If you're from Detroit, this will more than satisfy your cravings, and you won't have to go home and suffer through your relatives company just to get a slice.Great product. Wow!  Our new favorite pizzeria!  We're from East of the Central Time Zone and are thrilled to find good NY style pizza with fresh toppings and terrific salads (we had the chopped and arugula).  The Nutella bread is so amazing for desert, and the order so huge it will be breakfast with coffee as well!  Today is Valentine's Day and our did we mention awesome NY style pizza came shaped as a heart.  Someone at Pizza Via is an artist--- or else has way too much time on their hands.  We loved it, we will order from here for now on!  We don't live nearby but Door Dash delivered fresh and yummy.  Thank you! La Pizza Via has a lot to offer.  While I won't recommend the NY style at 2 stars because it is good quality, just needs to be elevated and developed a bit. I initially tried the Chicago style and liked it enough to come back - giving Chicago 3 stars.  This is an update to my previous review, so let me explain the four stars.  The owners are passionate about their product, pay close attention to detail, and despite my rather harsh review, treated me with respect and shared insight about the process of their craft.  I'm also intrigued and curious to try their Detroit style as I didn't know that exists.  Out of respect for the Owner and having insight into how he approaches his craft, I know that if we continue to support his business, he will continue to evolve and expect great things from La Pizza Vie.  Come for the chance to try something new, for the excellent service, and to support a business who truly cares about what they put on the table. Love at first bite. How did we not know about your glory? I have been desperately searching for my perfect pizza pie in the suburbs for too long. We ordered a plain cheese to test the waters. The crust was crisp and tasty. The sauce was just right. I can't wait to try more of what they have to offer. We picked up. I'm not even  sure they deliver to us. O!M!G! This is the best pizza I've had since I left my home town outside Buffalo NY in 1992. I'm always skeptical and disappointed when I see pizza joints tout their NY style pizza. ..but this place over delivered. The crust was spot on authentic NY, as was the pepperoni. I've not seen pepperoni that curls up around the edge since my hometown days. I thought it was an anomaly of the place we ate as kids. But now I know the truth - NY style pizza is alive and well and in Fox River Grove IL..perhaps the only place outside of NY state. This place is beyond amazing, I luckily work one day a week around the corner and I have started to go every Thursday. They are so kind and the service is A+ I feel so bad that today I cleaned out all of their fresh made slices to bring back home with me because my girlfriend was going to kill me otherwise. The quality of the ingredients is perfect and everything goes so well together. The prices are very affordable as well! Since the first time I came here they added a dining area from the place next door and I hope it will give them even more business! We have been getting pizza from La Pizza Via since they opened as they are the closest pizza place to our home, but it is worth more of a trip if you have one.  We love all of their unique creations, especially the mushroom specialty and the one with prosciutto and arugula. Great pizza find.  No matter what your pizza hankering is, Pizza Via's got you covered..and then some.Searching for NY? Chicago cracker crust? Pan?  Detroit style? They have it all under one roof.  We were in the nearby area & starving.  I'm always on the lookout for crazy good & unique pizza spots and when I came across their website, I was immediately sold.  So many options using different dough for each style.  It was a no brainer to come here.The NY is a popular choice and same dough is used for the Stuffed Breads and Calzones.Called in our order for a Margherita NY/NH (with shroom and sausage), Chicago cracker crust with same toppings and small Italian stromboli.  I was told order would be ready in 20-25 min.  This was good news because we were starting to get super crabby and needed grub asap.Pizza Via is a small spot located inside a newer strip mall.  More of a take out place.  A couple tables inside and 2 tables outside.  Very clean.  They have a cooler filled with various canned sodas and water.  I grabbed 2 drinks and we sat outside.  Immediately an employee approached me asking if everything was ok.  I was sort of surprised as I just started opening our boxes.  I took a quick look at our pizzas and noticed the NY/NH was missing the extra toppings I requested but I honestly didn't care, I just needed to eat it.  I love Margherita anyway.  I mentioned the missing toppings and he immediately said he'd make a new pizza.  I assured him it wasn't necessary.  He then said he had my # in their system and would comp us on the next pie.  I can't express how taken back and pleasantly surprised I was.  He even asked if we needed utensils, paper plates, red pepper or parmesan for our pizzas. This alone left quite an impression on me.  I don't know if I'll be back in this area anytime soon, but if this isn't excellent customer service, I don't know what is.  This is a family owned business (I read from NY) and it's obvious they want their customers to be happy.  The employee who helped us (forgot his name) deserves 10 stars alone.  He was great.We loved the fresh, simple, tasty sauce.  My bf could have eaten this in buckets.  Sausage was ok.  Toppings & cheese were good quality.  Didn't get that crunch from the Chicago cracker style.  Wasn't crispy, just very thin.  NY was really really thin also.  Maybe too thin.  Overall the pizza was good but missing a few marks.  I heard the Stromboli was fantastic.  I  took a few bites and yes, I had to stop.   A small was gigantic!  Stuffed with loads of mozz & Italian meats; dough was really soft.   You'll definitely need a nap if you can finish this..These guys really know how to run a business.  Prices are reasonable too.   They're a role model to other eateries....Bravo to them.  I may come back and try the NY again. I really want to give this 4.5 but the system won't let me and 4 is too low!! We have ordered from La Pizza Via a few times and find that it has only gotten better over time! We knew tonight would be busy as it's Saturday night and when we ordered the girl said it would be an hour and a half to an hour 45. We were fine with the timeline as we had nothing going on. Our pizzas and garlic knots arrived well within an hour!! We were pleasantly surprised at the speed and everything was hot and fresh.The garlic knots were tasty and had a nice crust. Plenty of fresh garlic but could have used a tad more salt (this is our personal taste too so no ding to the restaurant). My only complaint is that the sauce that goes alongside is very bland. Again, this is personal taste but I would like to see some Italian herbs or something added to give it a bit more zip.We ordered a Detroit style pizza and a Chicago style thin crust one. Both had exceptional toppings!! Delicious! The Detroit style was true to form and had a wonderful, crispy, caramelized cheese edge. The Chicago thin crust had amazing flavor but was not crispy except at the very edges. I'm not sure if this is due to traveling? At any rate, the toppings were first rate and we enjoyed both styles! It is nice to see a pizza place with such fresh ingredients and so many options for crust and toppings!We are looking forward to ordering again!I'm updating my previous review to a solid 5!! We have ordered a couple of times since I wrote this and each time is better. Tonight we tried the New York crust with their specialty Italian pork mix (pepperoni, salami, cappicola, prosciutto) and it was outstanding. Also had meatball sliders which are a must for an appetizer! My husband said he could have made a meal out of them. And we got a Caesar salad which was so fresh and crunchy with plenty of fresh shaved Parmesan and croutons. All in all, we are so impressed with the fresh ingredients and the care taken. Loved that they had New York style pizza. Literally the only place around that had anything of the sort. I got 3 different styles of pizza, 2 different crust styles, that were all super delicious. And $50 for 1 large, and 2 small specialty pizzas? I'll be back. I ordered 1 large ny style, 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepperoni (which was crispy and DELICIOUS).1 small ny style Arugula Bianca Via. To which I would only suggest adding some sort of acid combo to. Like fresh tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, bruschetta, or roasted red peppers.And 1 16" BBQ Chicken. Detroit style.The only down side was that I had ordered online at 740, not realizing they closed at 8. I got an email saying to pick it up in a half an hour but that would be after they were closed. So I called to make sure and the girl working seemed stressed, so I assumed that was why she seemed short with me. I understand, not her fault. Just maybe give them more help at night? Ordered here for the second. Love the convenience of being able to order online and customize it without any extra costs. They allow you to do 2, half orders of any of their pizzas for one costs which is great when you have picky eaters at home . So we've ordered half cheese for the kids and whatever speciality pizza we want to try and it's a win win for all. The pizza is good. Not the best I've had, but it's good. And if you're looking for a good, inexpensive dinner at the beginning of the week, they offer a $5 off large pizza Monday- Wednesday. For $11 and some change for a cheese pizza- it's a no brainer. The garlic knots sounds amazing, one day I'll bite the bullet and try them. Also, though I haven't  had their brownies, they're huge and for $3 I don't think you can go wrong (unless they're gross, but they're brownies- how can one go wrong?). We ordered from Via tonight, they had great stuffed bread, we my ordered the meatball one and my boys loved it. I ordered the arugula salad with pear and goat cheese and  it was tasty, the dressing was yummy and light. I ordered the arugula Bianca with the Chicago cracker crust and it was inedible. The crust was brunt and the pizza tasted like burnt garlic. The manager was very kind and sent a new pizza with the New York crust which she said was better. It was and was delicious. This is the best pizza place around! I will definitely order here again! Not only was the person taking my order very nice and friendly he was so patient and informative with all my questions I asked about the menu. We ordered the New York pizza and the margarita pizza( don't think I'm spelling it right). Anyway the crust was just the right amount of chewy and thin just like New York pizzas the sauce was excellent very rich and flavorful which complimented the mozzarella cheese. Toppings were excellent just the right amount of sausage pepperoni and veggies unlike other pizza places which haphazardly throw all the toppings on. Their pizza I feel is handcrafted and really made thoughtfully. I also ordered pizelles (again don't think I'm spelling it right) taste just like my Italian friend's gramma! This is the absolutely the best pizza joint I have found in the entire NW suburbs!!!   I have been a repeat "takeout" customer ever since they opened.  Standard order is: one large Cheese, and one large Pepperoni.  I grew up on NY style pizza and could never really "get into" the thick bread style Chicago pizza everyone up here eats ...and apparently "loves".  It's just not the same.  Let me tell you, for me, "pizza nirvana" has been found and it's name is "La Pizza Via"!!!   It took more than 15 years of pizza disappointment (yes, I moved here from FL) to finally stumble upon a real NY Style pizza place that just makes my mouth water every time I think about folding one over one of those slices, and taking a bite. The  Management Team is awesome.  These guys really care about their product and their customers.  I remember way back to probably my 5th order - when I got home, as my family and I started to dig into the pies we noticed that the crust was very different (more like your bready standard Chicago style!).  My wife called about the order and asked if they changed their dough.  Management said no, apologized, and immediately asked if they could "comp" a free pie on our next order.  Wow!  Needless to say, we did not give up on them and our "next order" was again back to FANTASTIC.   ...and It has been that way ever since.  The La Pizza Via Team is the greatest!  - Our family wishes you amazing success.  Sincerely, Thank you! This place is great! Not really a place to sit and eat (they have two small tables). But the pizza is delicious, the facility is clean and easy to find, and the service is super polite!!!
