Sometimes on Fridays we are in the mood for pizza and beer.  So, we usually go to La Pizza on South Miami, facing U.S.1, and across the street from Akashi Japanese Restaurant.  The exact address is 5840 S.W. 71st Street.     This pizzeria is owned by a Frenchman named Alain.  He's always there greeting his customers and supervising the operation.     A few months ago, they remodeled and expanded the facility by converting the front parking lot into a very pleasant patio, with table service and live music on the weekends.  In addition, they took over the space of the failed Mexican restaurant next door,  and converted it into a cozy bar.  Then, on our last visit, we were told that Alain had sold the restaurant to a group from France, but he was staying to manage it.     The Pizza offers a variety of pizzas, and you can order these in the style of crust you desire, such as Roman, Neapolitan, or Brooklyn.  Also, in the menu you find various appetizing salads, and a selection of "Pastas al Forno", which includes the classics Bolognese, Carbonara, or Alfredo.  You can also order a Nutella pizza for dessert with strawberries and bananas.     For our meal, we shared a delightful salad of Beets and Goat Cheese.  It had golden and red beets and also arugula.  Then we ordered a delicious Prosciutto and Figs pizza, which was topped with a light tomato sauce, mozzarella, Prosciutto crudo, dry figs, and a glazed Balsamic vinegar.  But, what made it interesting and spectacular was a ball of melting Burrata cheese on top.   We didn't go for the Nutella pizza dessert because we were trying to save on calories.  Maybe next time. I have been hearing rumors about this place for a few months now. Located at the new Sunset Yard. They did a great job with the location. If you are lucky, you might experience live music outside. People sitting eating and drinking enjoying and dancing to the music. Was very impressed! But even more impressed after dining at at La Pizza.I was greeted with a smile when I walked in. We asked to be seated by the back where you can see the pizza making process. They use fresh ingredientes imported from Italy and you can tell the difference from the first bite! We had the pleasure of having several dishes (we were starving!)Started with cheese bread. Made with the same pizza dough. Nice and toasty! Then moved onto a couple of pastas al forno, Carbonara and Truffle Mushroom. Both extremely delicious, very flavorful! The truffle mushroom is a must if you are in the mood of pasta.Of course, we had to do pizza! (Don't worry, we had leftovers LOL). Had the Prosciutto Pizza with burrata that explodes when you bite into it. Can you believe we had space for desserts? Oh yes we did! Nutella Pizza and homemade Brownies with ice cream on top! To die for!!!Can't wait to go back to try more dishes! More...

This is the kind of edit I like to do on my reviews....After not coming back here for a long time, we decided to give it another try and I'm glad to report the good updates. Well, we now have table service, which to me was the big deal breaker. Having to stand in line every time you want to order something is not my idea of dinning out.In addition to this they have added some handcrafted beers and wines to the wine list. Pizza here is still very good and offers Brooklyn style crust or Italian. (Different sizes). Please note and take advantage of late dinning deals... after 9 PM almost everything was 50% off. Pizzas and salads at least. Drinks are also discounted after 9pm which I found, pleasantly surprised. The outdoor sitting area is quite nice and kids find it appealing since they don't feel so restricted as they do inside. The one thing that still needs improving is that they give you this nice plates and glasses... but they give you plastic forks and knives. I mean... they need to already have a dishwasher.... why not some silverware to match the rest. #maybeoneday.Service was excellent, very pleasant and helpful. Food came out perfect and in a timely manner. More...

This tiny restaurant tucked away next to Sunset Place has great deals if you're trying to eat on a dime! After 9 p.m. they offer 50% off their entire menu which is perfect for my boyfriend and I since we're always looking for late night spots! Their menu offers a selection of Italian fare including some appetizers, pastas and pizza. I was in the mood for pasta so I ordered their Shrimp Scampi usually $15 but was only $7.50. The dish was not what I expected of usual Shrimp Scampi but all the same was absolutely delicious so I was very happy with my meal. My boyfriend ordered the Tronquetto con Prosciutto usually $16 but was only $8 which we felt was the better deal of the two dishes. His was essentially a calzone topped with plenty of prosciutto and arugula then dressed in a balsamic vinegar glaze. The cheese pulls were endless and it was very tasty for the both of us---also a huge portion of food so if you're not starving you could definitely share it with another person. The only reason for the missing star is that our service was a little slow and our server seemed a bit confused. Seems like their staff also mans the sister restaurant next door so she was back and forth constantly, hard to grab her attention at times but overall that won't stop me from coming back here and exploring more of their menu! If you haven't stopped by here, you are missing out! This is a cute little place just off W Dixie Hwy that I found out about because a friend recommended it. And I can say that I was not dissapointed at all! I went mostly because on Mondays they have 50% off their food menu, and being tight on cash and money, this was appealing, lol. The place itself is small and tucked into a corner on the street that unless you were looking for it, you probably wouldn't find it. They have decent parking, with a lot on the side of the restaurant and the Sunset Shops parking garage in the back as well. They have an outside area with a good amount of tables that fit all group sizes. It has a very rustic feel, with twinkly lights on top and some greenery. They also show what cocktails they have for that day on a chalkboard sign outside in case you're in the mood for a drink. Inside, the place is well lit. You can sit yourself as well, and they have small tables inside which is great when you're a party of 1 like me, and don't want to take up a 4 seater. The menu is very Italian oriented, since it is a pizza place and they have a good variety of pizza. Like I mentioned, I went because on Monday's its 50% their food menu. I chose the Burrata pizza, which had, arugula, cherry tomatoes, mozarella, and a balsamic vinegar glaze. And it was DELICIOUS! I ate it all, cause I was starving and it was that good. I would definitely come back because they have specials for every day and I would liked to try some of their other food as well. More...

Went to La Pizza to meet up with friends for dinner. I was suprised this was here because I didn't realize it at all. It feels hidden. There is also a large parking lot with ample parking which is great.I like the idea of two different concepts under one roof. Both didn't really wow me this visit, unfortunately. I noticed the appetizers on the menu are basically the same for both places. I ordered the wings and garlic bread from La Pizza, both were tasty. I liked the wings, as did most of my table. Nothing really stood out for me for either place so I played it safe and ordered a burger for my entree. It was good. I had asked for a lettuce bun but they didn't remember and brought it out with the bun so I just ended up removing the bread and eating the meat. The fries were pretty tasty. I really enjoyed the sweet potato fries. The best thing about both places is the specials. I came on Wednesday or Thursday and they had half off wine bottles and $5 glasses. I had two glasses of a rose that was pretty tasty! I also read from other reviews about the $5 in house pizza night. Cant beat that! When we got our checks I noticed they tacked on a 18% service charge. I was surprised since we weren't a large table but this is becoming more and more common around here. Either way, I'll check this place out one more time for pizza because those pictures look really delicious and I didn't even look at the pizza menu much when I was there. More...

The atmosphere is great as well (indoor and outdoor). Definitely worth a try if you have never gone. I had the prosciutto mushroom, my wife had the pesto chicken and one of the kids had spicy sausage ( I like spicy food and it had some decent heat to it). They were all excellent. Idk what's up with this place, I heard all the rave about this place and I thought it's too good to be true. I went in, sat down, and ordered as usually. Waited for pizza, came in like 10-15 minutes, everything normal. When I came I was caught a bit my surprise at the look, idk what happened but it was like I saw the most beautiful pizza every but it's probably because I been ordering from papa johns and dominos too much. So anyways I was hoping the pizza would taste as good as it looks and it actually did. It did have a lot of crust which i did not like but the spicy olive oil was great with the crust. Ultimately it was a delightful experience. Typical pizza joint with good pizza and good price after 9pm half off menu price. Well that's what I thought but then they add a 18% service fee on the original price of pizza. So $5 pizza + $2( service fee) + $2 tip = $9 dinner. Not bad for price, actually thinking about it excellent for price. I will definitely be going back to try other pizzas on menu. More...

Tl;dr airy crust, nice sauce; great Tuesday pizza deal $5/$6 select pizzas; Margarita pizza = plain cheese; 18% service charge on non-discount amount; can also order from Sunset Yard.La Pizza is located on Dixie Hwy and SW 71st St and has a beautiful outside and open wooden sitting area in the front. The inside has a modern rustic feel to it with light wood covering the tables and bar. After seeing the reviews, I pushed my cheat day so I could check out the Tuesday deal. Here's what you need to know about the menu. The Tuesday deal has a menu of select pizzas for either $5 or $6. I ordered a Margarita 13'' ($5) and Prociutto 13" ($6) on their regular/Neapolitan style crust. They also offer a 13" Roman/thin crust. The waitress told me that Sunset Yard has the same owner, so I could order from there as well. It had a Taco Tuesday $3/taco deal, so I ordered a pescado taco and chicken taco (which I reviewed separately). A lot of food I know, but it was cheat day!I went around 530pm and there wasn't much of a rush, so the food came out quickly. La Pizza's regular pies have a traditional pizza feel with the right amount of give and not sturdy like some American pizzas.  For both pies, the crust was a great balance of soft but airy, and it had a perfect slight char on the bottom. The tomato sauce was also spot on with a fresh, slightly acid flavor. A pizza Margherita is traditionally a simple pie with tomato sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil leave. La Pizza's Margarita is a great plain cheese pizza but is not a pizza Margherita. There's a single basil leaf in the center, so it's lacking that basil flavor. On the other hand, the Prosciutto pie had prosciutto, arugula and balsamic vinegar, which is a an amazing flavor combination if you've never tried. There was nice, thin slices of prosciutto covering the whole pizza and the prosciutto itself was light, slightly salty and good for the price point. In terms of the food, the quality was great especially for the price. In terms of the bill, La Pizza does charge a 18% service charge on what the subtotal would be if it was regularly priced. My roughly $19 subtotal ($11 for the 2 pies, $6 for the 2 tacos, and about $2 for a Diet Coke) had a $6.50 service charge, so with tax came out to about $27. I'm not sure if this is how it works in Miami, but my hope is that the entire service amount went to the waitress. Speaking of my waitress, she was awesome. She checked up on me a few times to make sure if I needed anything. She also boxed the pizza I had leftover. All in all, I'm giving La Pizza a solid 4. The quality of the crust and tomato sauce were on point, and I do recommend you try the Prosciutto because it was great for the price point. The pizza Margarita missed its mark and the service charge of non discounted subtotal are why I'm giving it a 4. More...

Service was very friendly.. nutella pizza was amazing !!UPDATE:I went today again (brought some friends visiting from abroad). we were a party of 10. From the start we let the waiter know we would be doing separate checks. We told him 3 times. He came back with the full bill and told us that it was too complicated. So one of our friends grabbed the bill and started doing the math of what each person ordered (some of us got beers and food and it wasn't fair to someone who just ordered a pizza). The waiter literally stood in the table in purpose to make us uncomfortable for doing the math, he stood there for about 5 minutes and only THEN he decided to leave (he should have given us time to do this instead of standing there awkwardly). Then my friends went inside and wanted to pay with 3 or 4 credit cards and when one of them was figuring out something that he was confused about the bill the waiter looked at him in a rude way like "oh my god" then when another friend saw this he asked him "We told you since we sat down that we would do separate checks, we told you 3 times, so why didn't you? Now we have to and we are doing it but really that is your job". The guy said "yeah but you ordered beer and I didn't know who had what" excuse me? We were at the cheesecake factory days before and the lovely lady did separate bills !!!!!! We told her from the beggining and she had absolutely no problem because she was on top of it making sure she knew who ordered what and what would go on what bill.He got his 18% included. Leaving another review! So the pasta depends on the night honestly. Tonight it was a bit dry, but add some oil and you're all good. I had to park in the paid lot next door. Elyssa was a very sweet server and made sure my glass was always full. I got the pink sauce spaghetti and it was yummy, but as I said before it was a tad dry. I really wish they could've added veggies to it, but Elyssa said they don't have the option on the computer to add vegetables. It's nice that the food is all 50% off after 9pm & they offer deals for college students (everyday of the week $6 for margaritas pizza or pasta as long as you show your student ID). The ambience is casual but it's still a really cute little spot. The wine & beer is 50% off until 5pm. It's a good place, but if you order pizza I recommend that you order it well done or else it will be a tad floppy. As for the pasta, I can't complain because the prices are so good - but I wish they could add veggies (mushrooms & onion would be so ideal) to dishes that don't already come with it. Overall, the prices are great, the ambience is cute & casual, there's lots of wines to choose from, they're always offering a deal, and the servers are friendly.
