Describe your creative process.
My first task is to find out as much as I can about your project and what you want to achieve. I will familiarise myself with your business area so that I have the knowledge required to execute relevant solutions. I like to research your business competition so that I can create a visual identity that will give you more impact and help your company stand out from the crowd.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
It is great to have a clear brief and direction before making a start. Also a budget in mind so that I can offer the best solution within that budget.
I like to establish a clear quote with clients before I begin each project. Try not to hire a designer based entirely on their quote for a logo for instance. My approach is to create a whole range of initial logo ideas before narrowing down and focusing on favoured routes. Then the chosen design can be perfected before supplying all the various formats required for digital use and print. This way you achieve a fully satisfactory result. Some of the cheap quotes you find will not involve nearly as much work as I invest in logo design. Similarly when creating branding for a company I like to offer more than one solution to give the client a choice of direction.
What do you love most about your job?
I love immersing myself fully in each project I am involved in. It's great to form an ongoing relationship with clients based on their trust in my ability and experience, along with my friendly enthusiastic approach. Delighting my customers and seeing my work in print or online is extremely satisfying.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After many years working for design companies it was my dream to work for myself and be in control of every aspect of the business.
