I first worked with Keith over 5 years ago to design branding for my business. I am still getting positive comments on the brand he created. Whatever the project, I've always found Keith to be such a great creative collaborator and look forward to working together again soon. Highly recommended indeed. 5 big, bright stars!

"Professional from start to finish. We are currently trying to grow a small family run business that has been around since 2004, I didn’t know where to start but Keith from KR Design has helped me develop a fantastic website which gives a professional, first impression that we were looking to publicise. The website is fresh, vibrant and very informative, and most importantly easy to use and navigate.

Throughout the process, Keith has kept me informed of the development, and the verbal communication has been really great. Keith not only helped me develop a website but also ideas on printed literature, and how to best market the growing family business.

We would highly recommend Keith from KR design for the personal but very professional approach to all his work.

We look forward to our continued working relationship with Keith.”

KR Design Q&A

KR Design Q&A

What makes a great website?

Your website is your shopfront to your digital public. Being your first digital impression, you want to make sure it’s a great one. A great website should reflect everything you want potential customers to know and remember about your business.
A great website is one that evolves. Successful businesses are always trying to improve the quality of their websites to meet the needs of their visitors. Users visit your website because they are looking for something. A great website is one that ensures that people can find what they are looking for quickly and with ease.
A great website has good organization and structure. It is not cluttered, its clean and professional. It should also have simple navigation. If a visitor has to wonder around the site trying to find what they need they could get frustrated and leave.
A great website should have original content, focusing on the audience’s needs, not on what they’re selling. Relevant, fresh content builds the visitor’s interest and invite them to get involved, invite their friends and come back for more.
A great website should be designed by a professional. Beautiful & contemporary design make websites memorable. A good website is built around a theme that matches its market and personality.
A great website is one that loads quickly. Waiting for large files to render can frustrate visitors. It should also have clean and validated code. Messy, outdated, deprecated, or wrong code can reduce a website’s search engine visibility.
A great website is one thats easy to read. In this day and age, most people don’t read websites; they scan them. Contrast and hierarchy help the site’s readability by making the content easy on the visitor’s eyes.
A great website should be optimised. A great website with no visitors is an invisible website. SEO or search engine optimization will help bring an audience to the site. It is also important to consider that bringing relevant users plays a key role in the growth of a website. It is not just about establishing a generic audience, it is about bringing potential customers that will appreciate and pay for your services.
The most relevant not that makes a great website now is one that is responsive in nature. Working seamlessly across multiple platforms and devices is key to a great user experience

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

Key fact(s): what should I know about your company?
Objective: what do you want to happen?
Target audience: who do you or want you to, sell your services or products to?
USP: what are the major selling points of your business / product or service?
Tone and execution: whats your approach?
Mandatory: what must be included?
Success: what are your expectations for this project?

What information do you need from a client before you start work?

Firstly an agreement on commission. Given the nature of the commission, we would look to gain relevant contact details for key people to assist in the collation of imagery, text, relevant access details for control panels, online areas of relevancy etc. If applicable, a copy of the brand guidelines for the business along with all relevant files for logos, fonts etc.

What sorts of printing projects do you usually cater for?

We cover a range of mixed media and cater for all quantities.

Describe your creative process.

We feel its important to get to know you and your business. We work closely with our clients to find out how they operate and what they want to say. Good design comes from asking the right questions. Without focus, you may as well say nothing.
Working with a designer directly encourages a collaborative process that begins with ideas. Our attention to detail and crafting across branding, corporate identity, editorial, brochures, packaging, typography, website design and digital media, ensure these ideas result in effective communications.
Our ideas are lead by you and your input. You know your business better than anyone and our task is to extract that information to make the best piece of communication we can.

What information do you need from a client before you can start work?

An agreement on commission and costs associated with the understanding that changes to this may result in further costs.

What do you love most about your job?

As a creative, I get to generate pieces of communication that make people think and inform them. A clients reaction to achieving their visions is a real plus. People who love what they do have genuine reactions to the work we do with them, thats what makes the job so rewarding.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Having world for many agencies, I decided to start my own business after noticing that their was a gap in the market. Large agencies can often be expensive and out of reach of smaller businesses. With our skills and knowledge, we are able to deliver agency level work that is affordable.

Why should our clients choose you?

We like meeting new people and creating new relationships with other businesses. We like to consider that we form a part of each and every business we work with and as such become a valued member of the team. We fee that we are easy to work with and communicate on a level that simplifies the process. We like to think that our clients are able to pick up the phone and ask any question, however trivial it might seem to them. Giving you understanding and knowledge of what we do helps you understand the process.
