KPCL Architect Mahbub Hasan Khan arrived here on time. I found him to be very polite and professional throughout his two and a half hours working time with us. His plans and drawings were excellent and he has been so helpful with other parts of the whole process that I do feel we have had tremendous value for money and would not hesitate to use him/ KPCL again. Although our project is still in progress I have no doubt that if we do need any more help – Mahbub will be there for us until the finish. I can only finish by saying KPCL provide a 5-star service at a very good price and that we highly recommend them.

How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
A garage conversion can be one of the quickest and most affordable ways to add living space to a home. The foundation, walls, and roof are already in place. The wiring is often sufficient. If the garage is attached to the house, the entry already exists.
In many houses, a well-planned garage conversion can create a new room or rooms that blend seamlessly with the existing house. Most commonly, the location of the attached garages makes them ideal locations for large family rooms or even expanded luxury kitchens. The process should begin with a careful assessment of the garage and the problems and promises it holds. Here are seven elements to evaluate as you consider the possibilities.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
A garage conversion is also a project that creates minimum disruption to your living conditions whilst work is underway.
Costs start at around £8,000 for a basic garage conversion, but it is a good idea to carry out a garage conversion in tandem with a remodel of your existing ground floor. This will allow you to rethink your whole floorplan, ensuring you really maximise both space as well as the way natural light will flow throughout the new space.
This guide explains everything you need to know about converting your garage into habitable space.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Most importantly, the internal height of the existing roof needs to be a minimum of 2.2m in order to convert the roof into a living space. This will give you more space internally as you will need insulation and plasterboard to cover the structure.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
There are different types of roof conversions, a ‘room in a roof’, a ‘dormer loft’ and ‘raising the roof’.
If you were to go through ourselves, we would carry out a site survey and take all the necessary measurements. We will use these to create the architectural drawings (existing & proposed floor plan/elevations/sections) to submit to the council along with the essential planning application.
Planning permission may be required unless the proposal falls under permitted development. This excludes properties located in a conservation area or within Article 4 Direction. However we highly advise obtaining a Certificate of Lawful development for permitted Loft Conversions to ensure work proposed is lawful and the certificate will add the extra room to the land registry . Thus, adding value to your property. Please bare in mind the application process is 6-8 weeks.
The next stage is Building Regulation Drawings. This includes the structural engineer's calculations report and general building specifications, which is vital for the Builders to be able to quote on as well as for Building Control.
Once a Building Notice (allows you to start construction after 48hrs of sumitting the notice ) is submitted to Building Control, your chosen builder can get started on the Loft. The constructions of the Loft can take between 2-3 months.
