We entrusted Diane to remodel our house after Harvey and despite her charging us more than $200,000 the quality of work she and her team performed was extremely poor. The floor was never prepared per industry or manufactures standards and it failed due to the fact that she did not remove the tar from the previous floor. Her painters did not prep the walls and trim properly leaving unpainted areas, wall tape lines, wood trim that wasn't smooth, and paint that wasn't mixed properly. Her tile installers used the wrong cutting tools leaving jagged edges, her tub installer forgot to set the tub leaving it wobbly when in use and she never finished installing our kitchen cabinets. Instead of addressing the problems she would argue with us at every instance. Even after her own wood floor supplier, an independent wood floor consultant, Sherwin Williams, manufacturer of the paint, and Medici Tile, maker of the kitchen backsplash tile gave us reports that the failures were ALL contractor related she refused to do the right thing and fix the problems. We spent more than $110,000 this summer fixing the issues having to move to a hotel for more than six weeks due to the extent of her shoddy work that was not done in accordance with acceptable industry standards. We have had to sue Ms. Braun both corporately and personally. She avoided service causing us to go back to court and serve her in absentia, she closed her LLC and formed a new one in what we believe was an attempt to avoid liability, she has refused to provide us with required information under Texas residential construction law, and at every turn refuses to take responsibility for her work. Ms. Braun even countered sued us as we withheld the contract retainage despite the fact she never finished the job, however, the claim is being challenged in court as she has no standing due to the fact she closed her LLC. The court date is in July 2020 and Ms. Braun is looking at violations of the RCLA due to the fact that her construction contract did not meet requirements set by Texas statutes and DTPA violations which if found liable will result in treble damages plus legal fees being awarded. With a Texas jury trial finding for our side, Ms. Braun will be personally liable due to the RCLA and DTPA violations and her new LLC will also be liable. A Harvey victim shouldn't be victimized twice and have to sue a contractor that will not take responsibility for her substandard work. We discovered that we had a leak in the wall of our shower. We were referred to Kitchen and Bath Design Studio from several friends. Diana could smell the mold as soon as she walked into our bathroom and with our permission she had her worker open a section of wall to examine the damage. She pulled out moldy insulation and showed us the leak which caused a lot of damage. We were able to redo the bathroom and with Diana’s guidance - we enlarged the space and ended up with our dream bathroom. This design-remodel group is amazing. We picked out all of our items in their showroom. The design was exactly what we wanted. And the price was right on budget. We started with a gut renovation & had a new kitchen and 2 bathrooms/1 powder completed in 6 weeks.We felt apart of the process with daily updates and site meetings but didn’t need to micro manage the project.
