About

I photograph babies, children and families throughout Edinburgh the Lothians and Fife. The experience is natural and relaxed portraiture with photographs taken in the comfort of your own home or on-location at a venue of your choice. My style is candid and documentary like without over posing.

Kirsty was very helpful in arranging the session, working through the payment terms, was punctual to the appointment, and was very professional through the execution of the photo session. If I am back in Edinburgh again with my family, I would definitely try to line up another session with Kirsty. More...

I asked Kirsty to take some shots of me for professional use - on brochures, websites etc. She has given me some great photos, which I am already using, and they look great. Fiona Parker

Q&A

Happy faces and natural laughter in a photo is priceless. Photographs that really capture character. You must have a good eye! Composition is essential. For example if your subject is off centre it will improve the overall look of the image rather than centering everything. Looking for great backgrounds and textures also add punch to a portrait which could otherwise be quite dull. Old doors with peeling paint, ornate gates, plants and flowers etc. anything is worth considering. Changing your viewpoint, for example taking a photograph of a child from above them, so that you capture the light in their eyes. Patience!! I have a lot of patience.

How many will be photographed and if so how many are children? What ages are the children?
I also discuss what is best to wear as that can really make a difference especially in family groups.
What outcome are you looking for? ie a framed wall portrait or digitals you can print yourself?

The BUZZ that I get after a photoshoot! The anticipation and sense of excitement before and during a session. Every shoot is so different, even if I find myself in a location that I've been to before. Plus, the people I have had the pleasure of working with have all been fantastic.

For as long as I can remember, taking pictures has filled me with happiness and excitement. One press of the shutter release and you have a new creation in an instant. Amazing. Art and Creativity has always been in my heart since I was a young girl. My studies led to a career in graphic design, print and marketing. I loved designing layouts which used amazing photography and I became more and more interested in exploring this avenue as a profession. Throughout my time as a student and professional designer, my passion for photography was always there, I just needed to unleash it! I chose to complete an evening class in photography and it was here that I discovered my love of photographing people. Finally after years working for the same company I made the leap and left to become a self employed photographer and boy do I love it. Having my children was also a huge inspiration!

I'm reliable and respond quickly to enquiries. I'm a very patient person especially when it comes to photographing children! I'm led by them and how they behave on the day. You'll get a hassle free experience which is always injected with a good dose of fun! Above all I just love my job.

If you're expecting or have a brand new bundle, then congratulations! You can choose to have your session at home or at an outdoor location of your choice. My style is candid and natural and with a little gentle direction you will end up with a gorgeous range of images you can treasure and reflect upon. Newborns are best photographed in the first 2 weeks. I don't pose or touch your baby, but leave that up to you. Almost all sessions take place in your own home so you have everything to hand. Don't worry if you're house is a tip, I've been there! I like to capture those early days using natural light wherever possible.

I am a firm believer in getting images on display in your home to be enjoyed for generations. Choose from a stunning range of frames, canvases and gallery prints.
