Great place to fish. Well stocked, friendly staff, friendly locals, free tea/coffee, food available on request. The only thing preventing me from giving 5 stars is that one end of the pool had quite a bit of weed making it near impossible to fish there.

A lake stocked with rainbows and brownies of exceptional quality, all full finned and vigorous. In my experience it's amongst the best managed still water trout fisheries I've encountered in over 50 years of fly fishing. Exceptionally friendly, helpful, staff and local anglers who are always a pleasure to meet. I've fished here three times this summer and it's provided superb dry fly fishing. Unlike many other lakes, the depth and supply of water enabled it to remain open throughout the summer. I'll definitely be a regular visitor during autumn and winter. My friend and I found this beautiful lake two years ago and have been back regularly. I even got into the Troutmasters competition with a lovely trout caught on the top. The fish are in excellent condition and hard fighters. The water is gin clear and stalking large fish is great. The welcome is bright and cheerful with day long access to bacon and egg and loads of coffee in the lodge. Knowledgeable staff who give truthful replies and advice on what best fly to fish, etc. The lodge has good selection of flies. Well worth a visit. More...

Turned up early on a sunny enough Bank Holiday Sunday, first anglers on the lake. I'd probably not fly fished in about 10 years, and Christine was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. She told us where to fish and sold us the flies she'd recommend. We duly listened, and despite my being a terrible fly angler who can barely cast, I had 4 fish in a morning (plus lost 3 that came nearly to the net). I spent some time showing our three little ones how to cast and retrieve then enjoyed a family picnic overlooking the very well tended lake in a beautiful setting. Despite the freezing weather & snow - the troutcatcher crew received a very warm welcome from Christine at Kingfisher Trout Lakes on Saturday (27-10-18) - to be fair the weather made it a very challenging day, but we all managed to have a few bites and landed a few superb fighting fish. Christine with plenty of hot drinks and great advice helped - One of our members being disabled was well looked after, and even the youngest who managed to 'catch a tree!' I've not been fly fishing for 15 years, but fished here today and caught 7 hard fighting and perfect condition Rainbows on a 5 hour catch and release ticket.
