We cannot say enough great things about Kim Payant. We are from the US, so we did not know much about the area of Banff, so Kim asked us the right questions about what we were looking for in our special day, and guided us accordingly. Amazing to work with! Kim helped me find the perfect location for my surprise proposal and even gave me suggestions to ensure my fiance was not wearing a hiking outfit (she was so grateful i followed her advice! ). She was very easy to work with especially because I was in the US and it was a surprise. AMAZING!!! Kim is down to earth and very professional. She is stealthy - didn't notice her climbing everywhere to get that perfect photo! She made us feel comfortable and at ease. She's hands on and will assist with anything. Don't know how to put a boutonniere on your brother or bustle your dress? Don't worry, she's got you covered! Kim photographed our small wedding at Emerald Lake Lodge, us and all of our guests were so impressed! She knew all guests by name was able to quickly and efficiently get family pictures done! She promised us a few sneak peak pictures within a few days, she got us 16 pictures only a couple hours after leaving the lodge! Kim was amazing! We booked Kim for a few hours for our winter elopement at Emerald Lake lodge and couldn't be happier with both the experience and the photos. She comes prepared and ready to shoot even if the weather outside is miserable and cold. We didn't really know what we wanted but Kim helped guide us throughout the day, getting us to relax and giving us ample time to get warm. She sent us our photos in the most unique box/usb drive combination as well with a small care package. It was extremely thoughtful and definitely rounded out the entire experience. When I found Kim, it was part of a crazy idea that I had about an engagement shoot on a mountaintop. She was very busy however the stars aligned and she happened to have availability when I was driving through the Banff area. Her email communication was prompt and clear. On the day, she was very organized (even without cell reception), and had to keep the secret too. She made it easy, set us up perfectly, and nailed the shots. She and I both had to remain cool, as an exuberant hiker proclaimed, just as we were setting up: "ohhhhhh an *engagement shoot*". To which I said, "no, just photos." We had a lot of fun, and Kim was busy getting the job done all the while. When we had a special request, she always said, yes. She was very eager to capture our unique aspects and none of our requests (second location, presence of a higher power, etc.) fazed her. I have been a photographer for years and have photographed a wedding myself, and so my expectations were high. The shots, the scenery (forest fire smoke, meets golden sun, meets shimmering water), the togetherness that she captured that shows in her pictures, is epic.Her turn-around time was like clockwork. Wow! Wow! Wow! What can I say? We hit the jackpot with Kim as our Photographer. From the first time we met Kim for our engagement photos, she was amazing. We felt so comfortable with her, it felt natural. She was accommodating and she was always very responsive via e-mails.The day before our wedding, her assistant had to cancel, but I wasn't worried at all, as I knew Kim would be amazing regardless. She spent more time with us and honestly it didn't seem like she was bothered by it. She also took charge when my dress broke, not only once, but twice and was quickly there with a sewing kit to help me. Our wedding day was unique, as we had 3 seasons in one day. Kim photographed a facebook-friend's wedding, I was in love with her work at first sight. I contacted Kim about 10 months prior to our wedding and throughout the entire experience she was always to nice, knowledgeable, and happy to help. Kim is nothing short of amazing. We were a little worried about finding a wedding photographer when we lived nearly 2000 miles from our wedding destination (Lake Louise). Kim went above & beyond our expectations to make our wedding everything we ever dreamed of & more! We drove all 2,106 miles (3,389 km :) to the beautiful Emerald Lake Lodge (sight/vendors unseen) Day of wedding, Kim walked in, we hit it off as though we've known each other for years. So personable, remembering all 20 of our guests names for pictures! As soon as I emailed her to take on our special day, she emailed back quickly after- never hard to get a response from. She was very prompt to arrive to our venue & even worked with us shortly after hours to get that last picture perfect shot. If you are searching for a great photographer - stop because you've found her! My husband had booked Kim to capture his surprise proposal to myself and we were so thankful that we picked the perfect photographer. She helped him pull off the surprise, took incredible photos of the special moment and continued on with us to take engagement photos for the afternoon. We were so impressed by Kim that we did not think twice about booking her for our wedding day as well. Kim is everything you could want in a photographer - and then some. She is extremely kind, talented, efficient and professional. She also thinks of the little things, for example, hand warmers/foot warmers for outdoor winter photos or what mountain will photograph well at specific times of day. Kim is incredible. In addition to being an extremely talented photographer, she is detailed, organized, punctual, and very professional. We are from Texas and had never been to Banff before, but selected it for our intimate wedding. Kim knows the area well and knew exactly where to take us for amazing photos. We wanted the landscape to be the main focus of many of the photos and she definitely delivered. Kim knew all the best spots to go, and even drove us around in her own car which took a lot of stress off of us. She's also warm and very friendly, so she was a joy to have at our ceremony. Her turnaround is very quick. We got about 20 social media-ready photos the day after the wedding (which was awesome to share with friends and family back home) and she gave us each photo in high resolution, ready-for-printing format on a jump drive about 45 days after our wedding allowing us to share them at our wedding reception back home. Perhaps this is the norm in Canada, but it is not in Texas where most photographers of her caliber will not give you the original files. Each image she took is breathtaking. We had the pleasure of having Kim as our wedding photographer on a rainy September morning. I was so captivated by her portfolio and Instagram photos that I had switched my wedding dates around so she could slot us in. In hindsight, it was worth it! She was an incredibly talented photographer that excels at capturing the beautiful natural landscape of Banff. I was an MC for a wedding this month in Jasper, and I saw how hard Kim & her assistant worked to make sure they got the perfect pictures for the couple very professional but made it so much fun as well. I have never seen photographers have couples, or family and friends get together to get pics done; just randomly asking if they wanted their picture taken in front of the Christmas tree. After looking through portfolio photos of wedding photographers online we decided we needed to have Kim capture our special day. We hired her for a full day wedding photography package and let me assure you it was well worth the price. Kim is a pleasure to work with. She followed us around all day and even kept us on schedule. Kim was the photographer for my wife Kristine and I’s wedding on September 18th in Banff. Kim was an absolute pleasure to work with for the three hours we had her booked. Our day started routinely, but our outdoor wedding plans were suddenly thwarted by 30 mins of Mother Nature’s wrath. Kim quickly went from just photographer, to helping my wife get ready under pressure as I secured an impromptu indoor venue. Just after the ceremony the weather cleared, and Kim got to work on outdoor photos as the weather had cleared just in time. We only had 20 family members at the wedding, and the bride and my family’s are blended, making for many family combinations. Kim was insanely good with remembering everybody in our family’s names, and with awesome efficiency, made the best use of our time booked and took photos of as many combinations of different family members as possible. The day ended with her taking us to a nice little lake, to salvage the nice mix of fog and sun that had showed up at golden hour. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Kim and her work. When we were looking for a photographer, her portfolio and her excellent reviews blew us away. She is based in Banff, but travelled to Jasper for us for the wedding day. She was so great to work with both during our engagement shoot and on the day of. Her experience clearly shows when you meet her, she is so knowledgeable and her photos are amazing. We booked Kim Payant Photography for our small wedding/elopement at Emerald Lake Lodge 6 months before the date. We chose the Elopment package for 3 hours (later added an hour). Leading up to the day they were very helpful but not to pushy, being a small wedding we weren’t to picky on details before hand and not always punctual getting back to them. Kim was a bigger help than both my wife and I could imagine. We had some crazy weather that postponed the wedding an entire day and Kim kept in contact not only with us that day but the commissioner, hair and make up, and the venue.If you are planing a wedding in the Banff/lake Louis Area there is a 90% chance Kim has worked with the other vendors, if you don’t decide to use her preferred vendors list. Once the day finally came we were pretty stressed as further delays kept happening, but Kim constantly re-assured us. Once she arrived Kim acted as our personal planner arranging every little detail we didn’t think of, taking amazing pictures while directing us. She had all the perfect spots and hustled us to each location so we can still catch the ideal sunlight. Even humoured us with last minute photo’s cracking our Champaign in front of the fireplace, and photos on the balcony. We got our sneak peak photos within a couple days and received our official photos when we got back from our honeymoon. All of the options available online once the photos are ready is very convenient and hassle free to order. We can’t thank Kim enough for everything extra she did for us. All of her years of being a Photographer in the Canadian Rockies definitely shows and I can’t imagine coming across a situation she hasn’t already dealt with.
