I was very pleased with the work Kidd team did at my flat. The men spent four weeks doing the required work to a high standard and Kerem was there regularly to check the quality and progress of the work. The men carried out all the work I asked exactly on schedule and even did added extras at no extra cost to myself! Furthermore, they sourced many materials at a cheaper price so the final cost was less than I'd been quoted. Highly recommended. More...

In the majority of cases, the work involved in converting a garage will be considered as permitted development.
If you live on a new estate with strict guidelines or in an where development can be restricted to protect the appearance of the surroundings, it would be good to check what’s allowed.

If in doubt, you can apply for a certificate of lawful development to your local authority. Bear in mind that, the removal of permitted development does not rule out the potential of a garage conversion, but you’ll need to ensure the design is sensitive to the setting and apply for full planning permission.

You will need a planning permission, if you live in a listed building, if the garage conversion increases your home beyond permitted development rights, if you are converting the space for business and your council has restrictions on reducing parking. Even if these restrictions apply, you should be able to convert the garage interior as long as the exterior is untouched.

The features that will decide the suitability of the roof space for a loft conversion are the available head height, the pitch and the type of structure, as well as any obstacles such as water tanks or chimney stacks. An inspection of the roof space will reveal its structure and physical dimensions.

Both of my parents were architects and I come from a house filled with ideas and designs. They used to design buildings with lots of interesting features and character. When I started doing property development, I realized that transforming spaces and creating new environments were the most interesting part of my work. The founder and director, Kerem Bikmen has BS degree in Civil Engineering, MBA and certified Property Development expert, with almost 30 years of experience in project management, building materials, property development, hospitality management and process improvement.
