Kevin is an amazing wedding photographer and a really awesome guy to work with. I hired him to shoot my stepson's wedding in 2016 and the photos were simply perfect. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Build a Rapport With the Subject .This is the most important skill of all! Don't get too carried away with posing—you'll often get better results by encouraging your subject to play around for the camera. Get them to have some fun and be spontaneous. The resulting photos will be full of life.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I would like to know what they are looking for in a photographer. What is the emotion, feeling or vibe you want to portray in these images? Is it fun, playful, mysterious, cute, serious etc...? What do you want to stay away from? Are there any cliches in our industry or things you are sick of seeing?
What do you love most about your job?
Photographers will tell you it’s almost like a disease, an obsession, a condition that drives them to tell the story at any cost, take extraordinary risks, all in an effort to capture and convey the story they are passionate about.
My love of photography is not because of a particular brand, it’s not because of a particular photographer or even because we love being creative. It is simply that pictures make us feel something; something that words fail to describe – It could be the love shared between newly-weds at their wedding, that picture that takes you back 20 years or even the shot taken just as your son wins his first sports day race.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always done photography It seems , when I was sixteen I built my first dark room. After high school off to art school to learn everything I could about the art. I was always destined to do photography for a living.
Why should our clients choose you?
You spend more time with your photographers than anyone else at your wedding, it’s a long, often emotional day, and sometimes it’s a little awkward if you’re not a fan of having your photograph taken, so it’s really crucial to find someone you have good chemistry with, can be honest with, and that you can trust to do a great job. We here at Kevin Whitlock Photo know we’re going to have a whole lot of fun with you at your wedding.
