A really special and stunning resort. We loved the adults-only, salt water infinity pool with the edge looking over the spectacular Pete Dye designed golf course. Our room was lovely, comfortable and large. The service was outstanding, as one would expect from a place such as this. Dinner at Fossett's was disappointing--including under seasoned and overcooked meat--but that won't lower the overall score because it was really a wonderful visit. More...

Keswick Hall truly made our dreams come true for our wedding day. We had the most incredible wedding, and all the vendors worked together seamlessly with Kelsey. We could not be happier about our experience. Don't get me wrong - it cost a fortune - but it was worth every penny to see our vision realized on our wedding day! Also, jump in the pool at the end of the night!! More...

I had my daughter's wedding on July 23 at Keswick Hall. The ceremony was held outside and it was 103 degrees that day. Keswick and Kelsey Mayo, wedding planner, keep everyone inside with the air conditioning and refreshing drinks until the last minute and cocktail hour was switched to indoors (great to have a plan B). When the wedding began, we didn't give another thought to anything except enjoying the day, The venue was beautiful, food excellent, and service stellar. Kelsey helped greatly from beginning to end and also gave great recommendations on the wedding cake and flowers. More...

Keswick was the perfect venue. Our daughter's wedding was outside and the vista was amazing. Their service, attention to detail, and professional advice was invaluable. We have been to dozens of weddings over the past couple of years, both destination weddings and local weddings.....Keswick was the perfect venue. Charlottesville has an abundance of venues for weddings and without a doubt, Keswick was the best in Charlottesville. Kelsey Mayo was wonderful to work with.....and she was invaluable both in the planning as well as the day of the wedding. The groom's family was from Charlottesville and they had been to dozens of weddings at other venues and each and every Charlottesville family remarked that Keswick was the most beautiful venue, best food and service. Last Saturday evening my wife and I and 10 of our closes friends had the night of our life at Treble Wine Cellar located within Keswick Hall.  It is an amazing space!  We had high expectations for the evening.  We had all flown in from South Florida to celebrate my wife's birthday and this evening was the weekends final event.  With such high expectations their easily could have been a let down. However, the team at Keswick exceed all expectations.  We had a phenomenal evening. It stated with drinks at Villa Crawford and didn't end until we finished a four course Fossett prepared meal.  Everything was perfect. Professional service.  Fantastic wine. Candlelit room.  And a once in a lifetime meal. If your have something to celebrate with a small group, there is no better venue. More...

I loved the cookies each night with turndown service, archery was fun, and great paths for bike riding or running. Only 20 min drive to historic Charlottesville. Would stay again. More...

What an experience! We were spending the afternoon visiting vineyards in the Charlottesville area, and upon a recommendation we stopped at the hall for the lunch buffet. From the soup to desert everything was perfect. Asking the wait staff about different items resulted in recipe and ingredient lists coming from the chef. Mario is a true gift to mankind. "It doesn't matter what you cook, as long as you cook with your heart..."Thank you Mario for that reminder, and your amazing lunch. We will definitely be back! More...

8 of us ventured down from No.Va. To play 18 on the hottest day of the year so far.  Great customer service.  Even had someone other than the beverage cart lady out offering you cold bottled water.  Nice touch on such a hot humid day. As to golf, the Pete Dye redo is fantastic.  The greens were tricky bit rolled well and in wonderful shape for a year old.  Can't say the same for the fairways.  Although not horrible their just "new" and about a year away from being perfect I am sure. Loved what Pete Dye I'd here.  His minimalist approach and layout blend so well with the lovely hunt country setting you can almost imagine your in England or Scotland.  Can't wait to come back in the fall and try this beauty again. We were absolutely thrilled with this venue for our April wedding! Kelsey is wonderful to work with and very accomodating. We also took bridal photos here and Kelsey was a huge help setting that up and supplying a golf cart and driver to get us around. They go above and beyond! We really wanted to have our english bulldog be part of our day and while we were at the reception and rehearsal dinner they even had a staff member take her out for walks and check on her(Ben we absolutely appreciate and adore you!). Staff is Fantastic and we really did not want for anything on our special day. Food is still being raved about from our guests and how great of a time they had. Could not have asked for more and will return for our anniversary! More...

Keswick is a beautiful and picturesque venue, and we highly recommend them for any special event. They did an amazing job for us. We were delighted by all the staff's competence -- most especially Kelsey Mayo, event planner. She was extremely helpful, accommodating, and understanding of the stress associated when hostessing a destination wedding. Additionally, most every guest mentioned the delicious food! This was definitely a hidden gem! We started our day with a tour at Monticello and decided to make reservations at Keswick based on the reviews...it was well worth all the hype! We were given a beautiful room with a huge balcony overlooking the infinity pool and golf course. The overall feel was rich and estately while still feeling succinct and comfortable to me the true essence of a high quality ambiance. We've stayed at many nice hotels, the Ritz, World Resorts, Omni...We had drinks at the Villa Crawford and divulged in their truffle and parmesean fries, absolute deliciousness for those foodies...the service was very good and the staff were always very helpful. This will definitely be a return place for us... More...

I've only dined here but have had great experiences every time. The staff is extremely well-versed in the meaning of customer service and everyone is a pleasure. If you need or want something, they will always do their best to accommodate. The menu at Villa Crawford is small but offers some great choices. I stick with the burger or the Croque Madame but the salads always look delicious. The truffle fries are also amazing. Keswick as a whole offers an upscale ambiance with beautiful scenery. Coming during the holidays is an extra treat due to the lovely decor and impressive gingerbread houses. Also - get dessert. It's worth it! :) More...

This is an update. We usually don't get to come here over the holidays but this year was an exception. Talk about a beautiful environment. It's like having a really rich friend to invite you to stay for a few days but your friend isn't there and you have the run of the house and all of his staff. It's amazing. The holiday decorations are a joy to look at. The staff is excellent special mention needs to go to the front desk staff of Kathleen, and Lisa Decker. I also want to point out that the wait staff  of Michael, Rachel and Brittany were really quite excellent as well. The food at Fossetts restaurant was its usual incredible scrumptiousness and the lunch buffet in the Villa Crawford was amazing as well. One thing to note the lunch buffet has gotten quite popular so make lunch reservations every day if you want to get in.The one really cool thing about keswick hall is that dogs are allowed and there are few things better than hanging around a giant roaring fireplace with your hound at your feet. Keswick Hall was a wonderful and absolutely stunning place to host a wedding. My only critique would be that there were some issues with the resort's hotel reservations systems. At several points in the months leading up to our wedding, I identified errors in their bookings and reservation management and this was frustrating and concerning. That said, the issues were all resolved and the wedding weekend went smoothly. The wedding coordinator there was a tremendous help, always gracious and accommodating. The team collected for our big weekend really executed too. It felt five star from our arrival to our departure. And the food was excellent whether for the bridesmaids' brunch or for the reception. From the outdoor barre class for the bridesmaids set up on the resort's croquet field, to the on-site groomsmen's golf, to the enchanting and intimate feel of having all 48 guest rooms rented out by friends and family, to the gorgeous poolside cocktail reception and on to the beautiful ceremony and tent locations, Keswick delivered a one-of-a-kind wedding setting and experience. If I could, I would get married here again in a heartbeat. More...

Keswick Hall was the wedding location of my dreams. We never seriously considered or even visited another location. It is magical and such a special venue. The estate and grounds are reminiscent of an Italian villa, and the quality of service is unparalleled. Everyone I worked with throughout the process, including Kelsey Mayo was extremely professional, helpful, and diligent. Keswick’s service and execution of our large wedding was flawless, and I wouldn’t have changed a single thing they did that day. I will always remember our wedding day in the happiest of lights, and I’m so thankful that Keswick was able to handle such a complicated service and timeline. Hosting a large wedding at Keswick is not an inexpensive endeavor and I wish all the costs were stated upfront (some tiny things were added throughout the process), but it was worth every penny and I wouldn’t change a thing. I’d do it all again, no questions asked. Our wedding day was the happiest day of our lives to date, and we are so thankful we chose Keswick. I couldn’t have imagined the day any differently. We are so thankful for all of their help and so happy with how everything turned out. We’re looking forward to coming back and staying the weekend in the future. More...

Service & personnel were excellent. The facility is lovely, and Keswick gave us a memorable and beautiful wedding, wedding reception & wedding weekend.

Our only difficulty was in pinning down reservations. for example, a number of people who made reservations were told they didn't have any or that they only had reservations for only 1 night. This was a source of ongoing frustration from the time we reserved the hotel until the week before the wedding.

My fiance and I attended a beautiful wedding at Keswick Hall in Charlottesville, VA in August.  We had a fantastic time sipping on drinks, dining in the grand courtyard, and overlooking the magnificent pool and large golf course.  It's truly a classy place.  Both its indoor and outdoor space is grand and intricately designed.  There was a large outdoor space for a tented area for the meal and the indoor area had enough space for multiple levels and a large dance floor.  The bride and groom also had fireworks over the golf course during their reception and it was a beautiful sight to behold!  I'd definitely recommend Keswick Hall as a great venue space in Charlottesville, VA.  The wedding we attended was charming and had a lot of Southern elegance.  Keswick is located about 15 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, an easy drive (and the bride and groom provided shuttle transportation, which was much appreciated). Their lunch buffet is one of the best-priced marvels in Charlottesville. Blissful service. Tranquil grounds. Comfy chairs. I "met" Keswick Hall in challenging circumstances--leading a trip for 30 mostly-senior citizens from southern California.  And Keswick Hall more than rose to the occasion.  Of course, the hotel and setting was beautiful--it floored my guests who have traveled all over the world.  And the food was amazing, both in the restaurant that sports the most magnificent windows over the golf course, and as part of our catered event. But it was the people who not only helped make our tour a success but let me relax and enjoy.  Olivia dealt with dithering dining arrangements with humor and gracious patience.  The concierge--I THINK her name was Celia (please excuse)--was invaluable in moving us to and from various locations.  She was not only the picture of hospitality but a creative problem solver as well!Would I return?  In a flash!  But next time, by myself and I'll let the wonderful staff take good care of me! We went for brunch on Sunday. Keswick Hall is wonderfully charming... A step back in time to a slower pace. Antiques and the country setting make this place sing.  While we waited for our table, we sat next to the roaring fire with club fender in the foyer.  We ate in Fossett's and were seated by the windows overlooking the golf course and rolling hills in the background. Keswick Hall's brunch is a la carte ...off the menu... No buffet. We both had "Eggs Keswick" .....delicious but the "Kite's Ham" was so salty we could not eat it.  Very nice place to languish and enjoy your food, conversation and the view. More...

Talk about gorgeous! If you're looking for an oasis at the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains, this is it. I haven't stayed at Keswick overnight, although it's on my "must-dos", but I recently visited for an afternoon. I knew this place was gorgeous from the get-go (it's a sister property of The Jefferson, after all), but I was floored by how amazing it is in person. It boasts three pools, one of which is an infinity pool and another that's indoor/outdoor, a golf course, a spa, two restaurants, tennis courts, and a whole host of other amenities.Exquisiteness does come at a price, so prepare to pay a pretty penny for a weekend stay. In my book, this is definitely a special occasion destination, and one that I happen to think would be totally worth it for an anniversary or special celebration. I've been planting the seed with my fiancé for a while that we must head here for a weekend getaway some point in the (hopefully not too distant) future. One step onto the property and you truly feel all your troubles melt away.  At least, that's how I felt when I finally visited, and I look forward to replicating that feeling again. More...

My partner and I went to Keswick Hall for a work function, and overall, I felt it was a very nice hotel with good amenities and a very delicious breakfast. There are a bunch of these cozy-type hotels near Charlottesville, and I was looking forward to staying here. The welcome arrival was friendly and professional, and the lobby is grand in an understated way. As this is a relatively old building, It's been renovated very nicely. It's not some big resort like the Greenbrier, and I liked that about it.Our room was a bit smaller than I would've liked, but they have to work with what they're given. The alcove and minibar was somewhat of a waste of the space, but it's not like you sit in your room all day. The bathroom was large, that's for sure. There was a lot of space to place your toiletry bag and other amenities. The grounds of Keswick Hall were also very nice. It has a heated pool that was going strong even during the winter, which I definitely appreciated. We also walked around the grounds, and they're redoing the golf course, which should look nice. The club house -- which is a short walk from the main house -- had a different restaurant and pool, but it was too cold to go into the pool when we were there.I will say that the breakfast at Keswick Hall is very delicious. Overlooking the golf course, the views are great! I had the sausage and biscuits, and they were absolutely delicious; some of the best I've had. Service was professional throughout.Overall, we had a very nice time at Keswick Hall, and I would return here. While the rooms are small, it's a great little find around Charlottesville. It was close to Montpelier and downtown Charlottesville, roughly. More...

I recently went here on a business trip with my boyfriend. I can honestly say it is a beautiful place that manages to be quaint, extravagant and comfortable all at the same time. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms but still had plenty of room to lounge and relax, everything was clean and had a beautiful antique/cottage feel which I absolutely loved! The grounds were meticulously maintained, staff was all very welcoming and friendly, food at the restaurant was delicious! Also, during the cocktail reception around 9PM, my boyfriend teased me for ordering a bloody mary, the bartender was friendly, absolutely happy to accommodate my drink request at a strange hour and the ambience was charming and sophisticated. The spa was wonderful and made for a very relaxing experience. I ended up getting the 1 hour deep tissue followed by the reflexology. I am pretty sure I fell asleep on the amaaaaazing heated bed that they have you lay on. I felt like a cat on a windowsill, so cozy! Also, before I went to the spa, a couple of the other business spouses and I decided to grab lunch. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed in between breakfast and lunch but a gentleman was SO kind to go out of his way to get us beautiful cappuccinos, a delicious pastry basket and some fresh fruit. I felt so bad that we were interrupting their quiet time between meals but he was such a sweetheart to let us sit and chat and eat! I needed that little recharge too! All in all a beautiful place with the most stunning antiques throughout done in a classy way, set in the rolling hills and horse farms of Charlottesville. Keswick Hall is incredible for a girlfriend getaway or romantic weekend. My sister and I stayed in historic Suite 9, formerly the master suite in the original Villa Crawford. We sat out on our private balcony with a cocktail and watched the sun set while listening to the birds, the nearby hunting hounds, and the romantic rumbles and whistles of a train going by. It was so lovely out that we dined on the balcony of Fosset's Bar. Anyone can stop by and visit for events like the annual Christmas tree lighting or make a reservation to dine at Fosset's, and there are some great combo deals with the Jefferson Hotel (owned by the same group). The new Pete Dye golf course will be ready in the spring and there's a full service spa on the property for the girls. This would be a great destination wedding venue with the gorgeous grounds and gardens and fabulous food and you can rent the entire hotel if money is no object! Well worth the money and the location is perfect for exploring some of the best wineries in Virginia. More...

Keswick Hall had me at hello, but it wasn't until my wedding day that I realized how truly magical this place is. When we were deciding on venues it was between Keswick Hall, The Homestead, and Greenbrier. Of the 3, Keswick had something the others didn't...Adam Donovan-Groves. Adam is the Keswick Hall wedding coordinator and is not only one of the most amazing professionals you could dream to work with, but he's also an amazing human being who dedicates his life to making others happy on the biggest day of their lives. It's not just a job for him--it's a mission. On your wedding day (and before) Adam is 100% dedicated to making everything go perfectly and is your right hand man. From day one when I asked Adam about prices and he sent me a spreadsheet with all prices, taxes, and tips included so that there would be no surprises on the back end, everything was perfect.

On my wedding day I had a terrible incident with my dress. When my bridesmaids tried to zip it up, they realized that the belt that was sewn in was 2 sizes too small and my dress did not fit. After 30 minutes of trying to get the dress to fit and deciding to cut the belt off, someone went to get Adam, and he was there within minutes, sewing kit in hand. Adam fixed my dress in minutes and didn't leave my side all day. He was so incredible to me, that it's hard to find the words to write my appreciation.

Everything at Keswick was amazing, the service is incredible, the food was delicious, and the venue was absolute perfection. I cannot say enough about how incredible Keswick was and it was worth every penny (and it was a lot of pennies). If your wedding day is important to you I cannot imagine a more perfect place than Keswick Hall or a more perfect coordinator than Adam. Thank you for everything that you did for me!

I'd recommend coming Spring - early Fall to take advantage of their pool and walking the grounds. The rooms are on the smaller side which is to be expected since it was originally a private home. The hotel has that cozy feel to it as do the rooms. The downstairs is open and encourages people to roam and mingle. The night time turn down service is lovely and overall everyone is extremely friendly here. I'd recommend this hotel for people out of the area who are looking for a beautiful place to stay while exploring the area. While everything was pretty, I just don't know if I'd personally stay again considering I'm somewhat in the area. There could be updating of some small things: Hairdryers - very out datedWhite noise machine (would be a great option to help with the noise from downstairs as you can hear the chatter if you're in a room close to the stairs) More...

Recently stayed here for 1 night to celebrate my husband's birthday. Even though we went during the off season, we were ready for a fun splurge!Summary: this is a beautiful hotel, but it was slightly lacking in quality of service. I'd give the overall experience 3.5 stars.Location: beautiful hotel, peaceful location! Lots of rooms to poke around in, a fun place to explore. Room: We had the smallest kind of room (Superior) but I loved it! It was beautiful, comfy bed, huge tub, lots of snacks, great turn down service.TV in Room: terrible! We didn't get HBO, even though it was advertised. And several basic channels were dark & blurry, and no amount of adjusting the TV changed that. Location of Room: Not great. I was prepared for that, because again we were staying in the smallest room. But we were on the 2nd floor, right near the stairs, and we could hear every single person talking in the billiards room downstairs. I was awakened before 8:00am by people playing pool. Not awesome.Bar: Really cozy, fireplace, with a superb bartender. He was friendly and helpful, even when we ordered off-menu, non-standard drinks.Restaurant: We ate dinner at Fossetts, which was pretty good but not amazing (I wrote a separate review on Fossett's yelp page). Service: Everyone was polite and friendly, but I was disappointed. I had written to the staff weeks prior to our visit to inform them it was my husband's birthday, and I even ordered lots of extras for the room. But in our entire stay  none of the staff said anything about his birthday, there was no note of it in our hand-written welcome card, and I had to remind the waiters at the restaurant that it was his birthday. I mean, this is a small detail overall. But if I'm paying $600 plus for a hotel stay (including room, drinks, and meals), I expect a little more attention to detail from the staff.Overall it was a relaxing, nice weekend. But not quite the quality I was expecting given the high price. More...

It was a HOLIDAY WEEKEND [rainy 3 days, to add to the fun]  Oh, and, my 46 TH birthday weekend. This is a wonderful property; the employees are amazing, and well versed The below is only the view I gave the management team.  Their response is why I give them a 5, oh yea, and,  the birthday present they sent to my room. You can clearly see how many couples were there for the weekend, many were having massages.  There are ways to create interaction, and a fun experience. Minnie 9 hole tournament for couples, round robin tennis, even create winery outings. If you have similar events, we were never informed. It seemed that guests could not play in the member golf outing; there should be a slight inclusion in this process. Just because we don't have a membership, guess what? This would help sell those memberships. That inclusion might have swayed us to move our Farmington Membership to Keswick.  Finally, your event team needs to work harder with managing the wedding guests; keep them away from the other patrons which are repeat. They  might be a one hit wonder, and may never come again. (the younger wild kids, of course) Calling customers and upgrading them or enticing them with special incentives, especially if they have been coming for years and have a special room, treat them as such.  Here are my final thoughts; Sales, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Dining, and Event Planning do not work together to create a cohesive experience. While the property is a nice throw back in time, and Mr. Goodwin is working to create change, there needs to be teamwork. This does not mean that the employees aren't pleasant, they are amazing.  However, your guest's "BRAND" experience needs to be your number 1 priority. Trying to sell me on other properties at the end of a survey email is an after thought. The front-desk should include this in a nice piece of informative collateral from the beginning, guests have downtime and it's the perfect space for soft selling. All of Bill Goodwin's properties have tasteful elegance, remember that, because The Greenbrier is losing it and The Homestead is falling apart. More...

This is a beautiful hotel.  We were in Charlottesville for a funeral, and since I was overseas during Valentine's Day, decided to make a date out of it and stay here.  Our hotel suite was gorgeous, very classy, I felt like I was in a fancy magazine room.  Huge bed with beautiful decor, large bathroom with large bathtub and very nice complimentary bath products.  Very high quality.  In addition to our room, the grounds in general were gorgeous, the giant house we were in we took maybe around an hour exploring it was so huge.  Lots of rooms with pool tables and lounge areas and really just a gorgeous space to explore.  Just down the hill from the giant main building was a smaller one with a pool and a nice bar.One downside to our stay here involved the bathtub.  Don't want to go into too much detail, but the water was SCALDING, literally you could not turn the temperature down to a reasonable human level.  We tried.  We thought about complaining but we were only there one night and didn't want to get into it.  Attempting to use the bathtub was absolute misery. In all, the boiling water coming from the bathtub faucet doesn't ruin the general beautiful atmosphere and general amazingness of staying here.  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.  Very classy. My husband and I stayed at Keswick for two nights during a recent trip down to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Monticello, Charlottsville and surrounding areas.  The grounds were lush and green and the view out in back overlooking the golf course is amazing.  We knew nothing about the place other than the fact that it looked serene and beautiful on line; so, we took a chance!  We were so glad that we did.  The room was spacious, clean, quiet and well-decorated.  The king size bed was HUGE and extremely comfy.  We did not have time to take advantage of the many activities on the grounds like golf, croquet, swimming and many others, but, we truly enjoyed our stay.  We played a round of pool in the large sitting/billiard room, dined in the exquisite dining room overlooking the grounds (for breakfast only) and visited the pro shop.  The rest of the time, we were out exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway from Waynesboro to Natural Bridge and Monticello/Charlottsville.  I was surprised to see some 3 star reviews here as our visit was quite fantastic.  Coming from the NY/NJ area, I was shocked to see how reasonable the price was for such a fine establishment.  I would highly recommend Keswick Hall.  We will definitely be back, hopefully for a round of golf, a dip in the amazing pool(s) and a little more R&R!!! Stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon. BEAUTIFUL accommodations and a big bath tub, and the tasting menu paired with wine was sumptuous! They even gave us some recommendations for places to stop on our trip. I've been there for my grandma's birthday lunch, and they're helpful and generous, and they even grow a lot of their produce on the premises! Wish I had time to stay longer, and I'd love to swim in their pool ^_^ More...

I came here for my honeymoon in late october. Beautiful! I travel a lot, all over the world and would have never expected to find this place in Virginia. Never thought I would vacation in Virginia, but The Keswick Hall is a 5 star place. The service here is superb. I was referred to by name by the staff, our room was made up multiple times per day, we always had everything we needed. Special request were fulfilled in a timely manor. Everything they did exceeded my expectations. The spa is amazing, the bar cocktails so refreshing, every meal where ever you eat is top notch. We also did the wine cellar dinner which is pricey but well worth it. You are treated like Kings and Queens. Eating, especially fine dinning is one of my hobbies and this experience once again was over the top. We will be back! Keswick Hall, see you soon. If you go I would recommend getting a rental car and flying in and out of CHO airport. Both are very reasonable. The vineyard tasting are great and Charlottesville was very quant. More...

The rooms are small but well appointed...I supposed 'cozy' could be a more apt description.  Our room had a small balcony with table which we had breakfast on.  The views are wonderful and the various rooms in the 'villa' are interesting to meader through.  The bathroom was small but did have a loverly big tub that I felt compelled to sit down in, even as  I showered!  Children that I saw there seemed very well behaved in comparison to other resorts similar to this, and there was a refreshing naturalness of other guests. Every now and then you have to treat yourself to the finer things, and THIS is how you do it!  Terrific staff, beautiful scenery, spa, pool, and top notch food. I highly recommend eggs Benedict or lemon meringue pancakes for breakfast followed by a Swedish massage (ask for Ali - she was awesome!). Absolutely cannot go wrong here. Worth every penny!  We wish we would have spent ours entire vacation here! More...

The setting of this hotel is beautiful and elegant.  Originally built as a home at the turn of the century, it is not your typical hotel setting. Our room was fairly basic, but was comfortable and clean.Multiple sitting areas with roaring fireplaces offer a mulitude of cozy spots to settle in with a cocktail. The restaurant is outragously good, and offers the same menu in their more casual bar.  We were lucky enough to enjoy a meal by the fire.  In fact, we enjoyed it so much we returned to the same table the next evening - never made it to the actual restaurant!Close proximity to local wineries and the array of amenities offered (spa, golf, etc.) makes Keswick an easy choice. I *somehow* wandered off from the last half day of the conference at which I was expected, and *somehow* and magically ended up in old world England!!!!Until reading that this very vast, expansive opulent stay was an Orient-Express property, I was completely dumbfounded when en route to Monticello and ended up here.... the signs along the quaint country roads drew me, and so did my keen sense of utter curiosity. I arrived during the late morning hours..... Keswick Hall could just as well be Keswick, England... really an authentic paradise, neslted in a wooded area, laden with very sophisticated decor and washed in a muted color scheme that bespoke dignity and money. When I ruminate over some of the prettiest estates that I've had the pleasure to tour, Keswick always, always stands out immediately. I have not visited anything like it since. So close to UVA, so close to Jefferson's beloved Monticello, close to James Madison's former estate, I would attempt a stayover here were I on vacation... even just *one* night.....to capture it all, colonial living with lots of amenities..... grounds for wandering and cozying up with tea and a book... fertilizer for awesome conversation and a nest for a head.I loved this at first sight, and love it even now, reliving my leisurely tour with the concierge's welcome permission, and trying to control the gasp and the gawk as I walked up stairs, down hallways, and into some grand, magnificent parlors. Ohh.... that rented Alero sure did me right by getting me here. a treasure trove of delight. More...

Another gorgeously maintained Orient-Express property, Keswick Hall was once owned by Laura Ashley and has now been turned into an elegant hotel. The grounds are stunning. A beautiful golf course and two heated pools surround the property, while the Blue Ridge Mountains rise in the distance. We spent the evening taking dips in the hot tub and having drinks on the back patio taking in the amber sunset and rolling hills, and in the morning we took a dip in the infinity-edged and heated pool, followed by breakfast at Fossett's, the restaurant in the hotel named after Jefferson's cook.  Absolutely a wonderful and relaxing place. A wonderfully delivered best man speech, a day filled with scotch, wine, delectable food, and a room filled with love and happiness retired me to my room. My friend stopped by to wait for AAA to jump start his car. He moved the colonial chair close to the window. We chatted and then he spied flashing headlights. He left and I collapsed into a fluff of comfort. I awoke to the chirps, deflected rays, and a pressurized bladder. I stumbled to the bathroom and as I returned I noticed the chair facing me and quite a distance from the window. I laid down and felt odd. Wasn't the chair facing the balcony last night? I was not alone. It was not a malicious feeling, and the realization jolted me awake. I laid there, feeble in my attempts to return to lala land. It felt like a woman, and she seemed to beckon me. Towards what? I finally sat up and put my swim trunks on. I bundled up and walked down to the to the huge, outdoor, heated pool. The morning was still trying to awaken, the birds itched it forward. A deep mist rose above the pool. I surrendered and disintegrated into the mist. I resurfaced at the deep end of the pool; waves tumbled over the cliff and into a overflow below me.  The pool overlooked the rolling hills that were uniformed into a golf course. Trees attempted to hide the not so subtle sun. The rays peeked over the trees and lit up the mist. An orchestra of birds hypnotized the sun to dance above the trees and the pool wrapped me in a womb. It was the pinnacle of being, a miracle of nature, and a celebration of the beginning of all. I was not in nirvana, rather it was all around me. Listen to the signs, and she will guide you. More...

This was an amazing treat! We did not know much about the hotel when we made reservations and what a pleasant surprise. As soon as we walked in the door they offered us a glass of fresh squeezed lemon aid. They welcomed our dog with a goodie bag and the chef cooked dinner for him. The room was spacious and very comfortable. This is very unique and luxurious experience. We sat by the pool with our dog and snacked on a cheese board in the afternoon, took walks around the grounds and played a round of golf. It is everything you want in a vacation if you are looking to have top service and peace. More...

Carrie Daysh was our Event Manager, and she was WONDERFUL! She left no need for having a wedding planner, as we had our reception at Keswick Hall and every single detail was handled beautifully. Am so lucky to have had Carrie to help manage all the event details and coordinate with all the other vendors-- the Hall was so elegant and our guests loved the atmosphere, food, rooms, everything!
