Really great little sandwich/soup/smoothie/coffee shop! I went here every day for a few weeks and loved it every time. The staff is friendly and their menu is surprisingly large, but everything I ordered was very flavorful and well-prepared. My only complaint is that I'd order the same sandwich and depending on who made it it would have different ingredients and spices. All delicious, but very variable. I had to learn who made what the best and order that that day. More...

I ordered take out from Kefi's yesterday when I was taking a study break. It's in a convenient spot for folks who are spending the day working/studying at the public library, which is located across the street. The place is small with only two tables and 4 chairs. I ordered a smoked salmon sandwich with ciabatta bread and a strawberry smoothie. The sandwich was delicious and I would recommend it! I would definitely order it again. However, I was very unhappy with my smoothie. It seemed like it was made of frozen strawberries and sugar, no milk (which should always be in a smoothie!). It was more like a slushee, which I can get at Cumberland Farms for 99 cents rather than $4 at Kefi's. I took a few sips and threw the rest out because it was so sweet. The service was fine, the employees seem nice. I would definitely order take out or delivery for lunch from here again, just no "smoothies!" More...

Only breakfast joint in the Waltham area that delivers before 10am via Foodler. That gave them a star on its own. The breakfast sandwich I got included two sunnyside up eggs, sausage, avocado, steak, cheese, and sourdough bread. I am in heaven. The portion was massive but no so humongous that I can't finish it... no one wants to save breakfast leftovers.. I am literally writing this review before even finishing the second half. Looking to grab a late lunch in the Watertown area however most places close at 3pm, not Kefis! I happened to drive by and walk by only to see they are open to 4pm; I was in luck. I walked in began looking through the menu. I spoke with the owner himself who is there everyday cooking. He was very friendly and helpful. My only issue is I couldn't decide between the special chicken shawarma, Turkey Sandwich or braised short ribs. They were out of the short ribs and I wanted something rather quick so I ordered the Turkey. When I was waiting Kefi was cooking the shawarma which smelled sooo good. The turkey sandwich came out shortly thereafter which was freshly prepared and tasted homemade. I particularly loved the "avocado salad" and "pickled turnip" that came in the sandwich. The thing that made it for me was the bread which I believe was served on ciabatta. I'm so happy that I came across this neighborhood gem. I hope to be back soon to try the short ribs & shawarma! We LOVE this place.  We moved to the area over the summer and of all the restaurants in Watertown, Kefi's is our favorite lunch place.  Their sandwiches combine ingredients that I never would have imagined together, but which are amazing!  The turkey with avocado spread on ciabatta?  Yum!  Craving one right now.  I also liked their roast beef sandwich--savory and filling.  They have a great half-soup, half-sandwich special, as well.  I've tried their butternut squash soup and their turkey chili and both were excellent.  Trust me, the half-sandwich is plenty.  That ciabatta is filling!  Oh, and don't even get me started on the homemade pickles and pita chips!  So good!  We always enjoy chatting with the staff, too.  They operated as a food truck previously and expanded their operations by opening the restaurant.  I know that the Main Street area is largely a "passing through" sort of area, but we're rooting for Kefi's to last and do well.  The place has a cozy small business feel and the ingredients they use are top quality.  We're quickly becoming regulars there.*A note - I don't think the address here on Yelp is correct.  They are on Main Street, but in Watertown--not Waltham.  They're on the corner of Main St. and Church Hill, across from the Watertown Library and the Administration Building (town hall?).* More...

Most of these stars are for the fries. Crispy-hot-herby-just-salty-enough...nomnom. I had the turkey burger with guacamole, turkey bacon, and supposedly some harissa in there (there was a tiny bit of heat so I believe them, but couldn't taste the harissa itself).  Went with a coworker, who ate his short rib burger so fast it seemed like a magic trick. Apparently it was good. The star off was for a strangely long wait time considering the very short line when I was there. Maybe they were just getting over a rush and trying to prep new batches of everything, but generally speaking, you wanna keep the food coming out at a food truck. For $10, it was a sizable amount of food, well prepared. It tasted like real actual food that someone, you know, cooked. I will definitely eat here again. Very friendly folks, too. They take credit cards for purchases over $10, fyi.--So funny, just noted all the other reviews from today's Lexington/Bedford food truck party. The negative reviews just don't correlate at all with what I experienced, though I made sure I went slightly past the first crazy rush. More...

They come to Waverley Oaks on Mondays and its pretty much what gets me through the day :) I love the turkey burger in a pita. .. a little messy to eat but then again you're ordering from a food truck, so it's all relative. The fries are outstanding!! Love the parsley (I think?) and seasonings.... these are my favorite fries around! They take credit card for orders over $10 so obviously have to order the fries every time to put me over ;)  You can also text them your order before a certain time and they will have it ready for pick-up later which is a great feature as they get pretty busy and the wait time can be anywhere from 5-20mins if you walk up which is totally fine on a nice day... not so much if its rainy :) More...

That's 4 stars for a lunch truck - qualified that this is the scale I would use for a takeout/lunch place, not a Michelin rated restaurant.  Ambiance was not a consideration, for example.Mediterranean influenced, I guess? lamb sausage, falafel, etc.The workers are friendly, the prices are middling; most importantly, the food is creative and good. Not health food - most of the meals are quite rich.My favorites are the falafel and the grilled cheese w/ short ribs.Fries are good, brownies are good. They once gave us free fried oreos while we were waiting; which I wouldn't order on my own, but it was very nice of them. They used to have fresh made potato chips, which were really great, but they don't any more - hope they bring them back. The veggie burger had good flavor, but was falling apart (too crumbly).Staff is super - they make an obvious effort to do the right thing for the customers. They once gave me a free lunch when they made a mistake on my order (I tried turning it down, and they insisted); and another time free fries when I suggested turning up the oil temp (they were oily, and that fixed it). They do a great job, and I hope we can keep their business going - glad to have them in the neighborhood. That extra star is reserved for a similar place but with excellent prices, and more variety of specials (food is great, but it can be repetitive). No, I don't work in any of the offices where Kefi rolls in, Tuesday thru Friday from 11-2, but he fills the void of Middle Eastern food in the 'Ham. After my summer in Sicily where I sampled some delicious Tunisian food, and being the harissa fiend that I am, I knew I needed to try this guy out. I was originally going for the falafel, but when I saw the Merguez I immediately changed my mind. The sausage was delicious, though its lack of casing left it a touch dry. Everything else in the sandwich was spot on. I also tried the seasoned fries, which were stand-out. It really says something that fries from a food truck are fresh and crisp while brick and mortar deli's in the area are sometimes soggy at best.  Will be back to try falafel and grilled cheese, wherever Kefi may go. Hopefully he will make his way over to the vicinity of Brandeis. (*hint*hint*) More...
