What do you love most about your job?
That feeling you get when you put your final makeup brush away and hand the client a mirror. Seeing their reaction is always so rewarding. I love how confident a client feels when they walk out (or down the aisle) knowing they look their absolute best.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My career as a Makeup Artist and HD Brows Stylist isn't your average story...
I entered the working world as a beauty journalist. I’d write product reviews and enjoy treatments, interview experts and fill the magazine with industry tips and tricks. After a few years, the opportunity arose to train with OPI. I jumped at the chance and was awarded my first qualifications in manicures, pedicures and gel polish.
Even though I loved beauty, I stuck with journalism. I’d worked so hard to work my way up the ‘ladder’, after all.
But as my career progressed, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. Soon, writing about makeup, nails and brows wasn’t enough. I wanted to live it.
Whether by design or coincidence, my beauty background helped me pick the best courses and brands to pursue a career in makeup and brows.
When it was time to finally quit my writing job, it was quite possibly the scariest thing I’d ever done. But I haven't looked back.
Today, I get to meet and make-up a truly wonderful range of people. I love making people feel like the best version of themselves and I now see how my beauty journo background ultimately made me a stronger artist. Someone who not only knows the best brands inside out, but is current, on-trend and inspired. But that’s not the end of this story...Watch this space!
