Absolutely fantastic session with Kate this evening! It was my first TRE session and I really didn't know what to expect. I actually had a really strong response and was initially quite startled at the way my body was reacting when I first started shaking but Kate was extremely reassuring and calm and made me feel really safe ! I am now bouncing off the walls with energy and my body feels amazing! More...

I've been lucky enough to work with Kate & her work with Delivering Mum after losing a baby pre-term to a chromosomal anomaly. Kate held an incredibly safe space for me to process the trauma & grief. Not once did I feel overwhelmed, instead, I felt totally comfortable to move through the feelings & emotions that came up.

I highly recommend Kate to anyone & everyone who has experienced a trauma related to pregnancy or birth. Not only will you not regret working with her, you'll gain your life back as a result!

I really enjoy being a multidisciplinary therapist, speaker and author. I like talking, writing about and doing what I do. Trauma is a fascinating subject and I could talk about it all day. I have extensive experience working with trauma and PTS symptoms and it never gets dull.

My belief is that there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution for deep seated issues and using a combined approach, calling on many different skills and experience is vital to bring about long lasting change. I am driven to help my clients to find physical and emotional release. This flexibility, makes every client experience a journey of exploration as we learn the best way to approach a problem. Taking a client to a place of strength again and seeing the transformation and is always a joy.

I love to work for myself, and the freedom and flexibility it provides around family life. As many of my clients have young families I understand this and can offer flexible times for them too. Running a therapy business and offering exactly what I think works is very rewarding.

Being self employed has its challenges, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

I am experienced, and I love my job. I only work with clients who I think I can help, and then I give 100% in the consulting room. Otherwise it is a waste of energy for both of us.

What is EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques?
Are you troubled by repeating negative emotional patterns in your life that just don’t get better? Do you keep going back to the same negative place time and time again, even after years of talk therapy or body therapy? EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques might be the answer you are looking for. It was for me and it continues to delight and amaze me with the gentle and long lasting results I find with my clients.

EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques are based on the premise that all negative emotions and physical issues are the result of a disruption in the body’s energy system. If this energy is blocked it can have a negative impact on the body or mind.

It is a simple, gentle procedure which has shown itself to be incredibly effective for the past 30 years. The great beauty of EFT is that you can learn it quickly as a self help tool and also use it at a deeper level with a skilled practitioner.

EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques release and integrate emotional blocks by tuning into a specific issue we want to change and stimulating key meridian points in the body by tapping or holding them with our fingertips.

It is that simple, and I use it every day for myself and for my clients. I have found that more you use the easier it is to clear emotional blocks that hold us back.

In technical terms it is the self modulation of arousal (for example: fear, anxiety, anger, pain) through the use of percussive acupressure, in simple terms it is tapping and talking in a certain way.

The body has a flow of electricity running through the nervous system. In traditional medicine a doctor will use an electrical cardiograph (EKG) to record electrical activity in the brain and heart, we also know that if we touch something hot the message is instantly transmitted along our nerves to the brain and back again. This is a continuous flow happening within our bodies. Without this energy flow we would not be able to touch, see, taste or exist. Your hands carry an electromagnetic charge and your body’s energies include this charge in every cell and organ via the nervous system and also more subtle energies such as ‘chi’ or ‘prana’ spoken of by acupuncturists and yogis. Much like the energy that flows into a TV set, although invisible to the eye it controls the sounds,pictures and resonance of our existence.

Releasing your blocks

Blocks are released by gently tapping near the end points of certain meridians (places we instinctively touch or rub when we are upset like around the eyes, forehead or chest) which sends pulses of energy back through the system to re-balance the body/mind system about the emotional pain you are feeling.

Chronic pain and behaviours, whether physical or emotional, are very often about the stories we tell ourselves about our experience. When applied properly to our stories EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques work to restore the balance of the body’s electrical system and bring about profound change in our emotional, physical and spiritual health.

This shift in energy changes the way the brain processes the information – to use the TV analogy again it ‘re-wires’ our negative responses frees up our energy for positive action. For example if you have always been angry about a certain issue, and talking about it has never helped (in fact it just made it worse!) EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques might be a way for you to try and release the anger and move on.

Energy is a vital, living moving force that determines much about our health and happiness. Energy Psychology (EP) is a remarkable discovery that blends ancient and modern concepts for health and well-being.

Energy Psychology builds on growing scientific knowledge (and body of scientific evidence) of the human bio-energy system and is a unique approach to easing psychological and physical distress. In Energy Psychology energy is our medicine and it is also the patient. In simple terms, when your energy is balanced and runs clear, your emotional distress disappears.

You are probably aware that chemical imbalances are often involved in psychological issues such as depression or anxiety. There is mounting evidence that the body’s energy systems also participate in emotional disturbances and that energy interventions allow brain chemistry to shift enough to overcome many psychological issues.

Energy Psychology (EP) is rapid and effective whilst being gentle and non-invasive. EP can provide an efficient way to deactivate the stress responses associated with disturbing thoughts and memories and pair them with calmer emotional states. We can learn to let go of anger, shame and despair and move towards, comfort, strength and peace.

This is a new approach to therapy that dramatically reduces emotional distress and restores harmony by clearing the flow of the body’s electro-magnetic energy system.

The energy systems are a major system of the body just as the skeletal, nervous and endrocine systems and have been virtually ignored until recently as a psychological intervention. When disturbed the energy systems start a domino effect throughout the mind-body-spirit.

EP combines cognitive interventions e.g. imaginal exposure to traumatic memories with interventions to rebalance components of the human bio-energy system (meridians, chakras and biofield). These then facilitate rapid, positive change and optimal psychotherapeutic outcomes e.g. extinguish negative emotions (anger, sadness, guilt etc) associated with thoughts or memories or help in the attainment of performance goals.

Psychological or physical problems can have their beginnings and solutions in the energy systems. It is the subtle energy flow that provide the basic nutrients of the whole mind-body-spirit continuum. We can heal the body by activating its natural healing energies and also by restoring energies that have become weak, disturbed or out of balance.

It is also very compatible with other psychological approaches and can compliment traditional medical care. However it can also be a complete and easy system of self care. Use it every day and feel the difference.

These techniques also teach you how to work with your own energy and evaluate and balance many of the subtle energy systems within. Within one EP session we can both learn about ourselves and also heal. Our bodies will naturally heal themselves when provided with the right assistance.

Sometimes it may be necessary to have an expert to facilitate and guide the process, but it may not always be essential. It is also important to note that the results will grow and strengthen if you use the techniques between sessions. Similar to working out at the gym – it takes more than one session to build muscles and an expert trainer can help you get the best results in the least time. I use EP techniques every day. They can be self applied when you are boiling the kettle!

Picture Tapping is a therapeutic intervention which is a fusion of Art Therapy and EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques that can bring impressive resolution for hard to identify or long standing emotional issues or addictions. Read how I finally stopped smoking using PTT here.

Picture Tapping is a different way of using EFT and has many benefits. It is an ingenious and creative way of releasing negative emotions (anger, fear, sadness, guilt, shame etc) and frequently provides faster resolution for global issues such as depression or generalised anxiety. When we create images, our unconscious mind will often present a multitude of issues in one drawing, that, when we combine EFT to the process are worked on at once.

In the years that I have used Picture Tapping I have found that it often provides ‘breakthrough’ moments for many clients.

PTT is a way of using EFT along with the power of metaphor and imagination to reach gently but deeply into the psyche and help to release long held limiting beliefs which may be difficult to express verbally. Sometimes we just can’t find the words, and with PTT we don’t need to.

It doesn’t matter what kind of drawings you produce, it is not an art competition. Just let your unconscious mind lead you, it may just be a jumple of colours or shapes (mine are!) However, clients are frequently delighted by the gentle resolution achieved.

It is also extremely useful for work with children or for adults who suffered trauma before conscious awareness and who may not be able to verbalise their feelings effectively. For my own healing journey this combination of art therapy and EFT was incredibly helpful to enable me to reach important pre-verbal issues that plagued me and needed to find integration and resolution. Once learned properly, clients can also use Picture Tapping for self care with very good results. Many clients, can with practice, create pictures in their minds and tap on them as they ‘come up’ for resolution. It can be a wonderful pathway to integration.
