I'm a documentary filmmaker and photographer. I do all kinds of photography, because I like the variety. Wedding photographers get burnt out because they do 30+ weddings a year, whereas I only do a half dozen or fewer. I also love doing portraits and as a father I'm very comfortable taking pictures of young people all the way to babies.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Making your subject feel comfortable, and/or being invisible (if it's an event), so they're natural and don't even know they're having their picture taken!
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Show me some of your favorite pictures of other people that you're trying to emulate - what style do you like?
What do you love most about your job?
Variety. I love taking pictures of people, but I also love taking pictures of products, buildings, you name it!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Being a freelancer is challenging, but I love being able to pick projects that I care about.
