Karma is a wonderful studio. I took my kids for the storytime hour and then they went to childcare while I attended the Vinyasa class. My kids didn't want to leave after 2 hours of playing, singing, and stories. They loved it! I had a GREAT class with Krista for Vinyasa. She really helped me with the poses and made me feel comfortable. My kids cannot wait to go back and neither can I! I hope they add more childcare hours, as I will take full advantage! We all loved it! More...

I had a fantastic intro back into yoga tonight. The restorative class was gentle, but I still felt good stretches and releases with the poses. I felt cared for and supported through the whole session. I will definitely be back and highly recommend coming in. Plus your first class is free - you can't do better than that. More...

Felt veeeeerrrry welcoming to my overweight, injured, and VERY out of shape self. Enjoyed the class with some nice ladies and a lovely and caring teacher. I am already excited for the next class!! Thank you, Cassia, for creating such a wonderful space! More...

I have had the pleasure of attending classes and completing my yoga teacher training at Karma. It was the first studio to open in a location that is convenient to my home, and is super-accessible from 205 (Exit 13 onto 82nd, right in front of Costco). My Karma membership was my first consistent, long-term experience with yoga. Because there are many classes appropriate for beginners (or mixed-level), I was able to get a lot of practice right away. There are also plenty of more active/intermediate classes. Eventually, I felt ready to enroll in the teacher training program.I completed my YTT under Krista Basis. The format was ideal for a working person; there were 1-2 evening sessions per week, and a couple of weekend workshops per month. Krista is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled; she covered everything from the science and history of yoga, to alignment and teaching points of poses, to the business of being a yoga instructor. There were also guest instructors on topics including anatomy and various yoga styles (acro, aerial, restorative). It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! I continue to reap the benefits by teaching a weekly restorative class, as a nice supplement to my regular 9-5 job.(Try stretch therapy with Annie, too-- better than massage for pain relief!) More...

Each year Karma keeps growing and getting even better. The space is beautiful and all the teachers are amazing! I also love the variety of classes offered. There is something for everyone and for all levels! It is a cozy and welcoming spot that I encourage anyone to try out! More...

Karma Yoga was the BEST choice for me to complete 200HR Teacher Training. Small class sizes allowed for a wonderful community to blossom within our group. Cassia Mark and Krista Basis provided the perfect program that allowed me to find my inner voice as a teacher and focus in on my own personal style. As a stay at home mom, I searched for a program that would meet my scheduling needs and this was by far the most accessible for me. I would recommend this program to anyone that wants to deepen their own practice or is motivated to become a certified yoga teacher. More...

I completed my 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training at Karma Yoga with Krista Basis (and other phenomenal guest teachers). It was a transformative experience that not only expanded my growing understanding of Yoga, but also connected me to a wonderful network of fellow teachers and mentors. I am especially grateful that this program really emphasized not only studying the physicality of Yoga asana, but also practicing the other limbs of Yoga--allowing each person to wrestle with the personal nature of Yoga. I was encouraged to find my own voice instead of mimicking, to really explore the way I experience Yoga and want to share it. I feel I've walked away bolstered with much knowledge and support as I continue my learning and teaching of this practice. Great people, and great place to learn. More...

When I made the decision to pursue a 200 hour yoga teacher training, I wanted to make sure the studio I invested my money, time, and yoga in was going to be the right fit. I started to research about yoga studios who offered teacher trainings in the Portland-Metro area, and I was looking for specific qualifiers. I wanted a training that offered a schedule that complimented and was manageable with my work schedule (I work Monday through Friday 7-3:30p), was certified through Yoga Alliance, covered a wide variety of topics, and most importantly invested in its students before sending them out into the world to teach something as sacred as yoga. When I came across Karma Yoga I was highly impressed that they had every qualifier I was looking for when choosing a training, but truly what sealed the deal for me was the two women behind the training; Cassia and Krista. Cassia is the owner of Karma Yoga and she took the time to explain to me (three phone calls, a reference from a yoga instructor who took the training a few months earlier & was teaching, and multiple emails) why this training was the best fit for me, and patiently answered all of questions in order for me to feel confident enough to sign up. Throughout every communication exchange I never felt like I was bothering her, or that she was an owner trying to sell her "product", but that she was a human being who loved and believed in yoga and wanted to share that passion with others. Krista facilitates the 200 YTT, and has authentically created a curriculum that exceeds Yoga Alliances expectations of what a yoga teacher training should entail. Krista is a bright light, and teaches from the heart. She not only teaches yoga, but she lives yoga. When it comes down to choosing a 200 hour yoga teacher training any studio can have positive qualifiers, but not all can offer what Karma Yoga does; a community full of love, inspiration, and authentic yoga. These two women were a blessing throughout my 200 hour YTT journey, and so were the other individuals I met along the way, and the knowledge I gained through the experience. Choosing to pursue a 200 hour yoga teacher training was one of the best decisions I've made, and I'm thankful I chose Karma Yoga to guide me through that journey! More...
