Ronnie
Counselling
Karen is very professional and thorough, yet very easy to talk too. Being male there has always been a huge stigma, even a fear, regarding men seeing counsellors.
I totally recommend seeking advice as it really does help. Thanks again Karen for all your work.

Lise Dessons
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
I’ve seen a psychotherapist before but it wasn’t working for me. I knew I needed to speak to someone else. Someone who would help me making sense of everything, connecting the dots. Karen has been amazing at this. She’s kind, respectful, funny, attentive and she made me feel at ease instantly. I’m looking forward to do the exercices she recommended. I’m very happy to have found the right person. Thank you! More...

What do you love most about your job?
The uniqueness of an individual is my passion and to be able to help someone focus and challenge their energy to change their mindset is inspiring.
The word 'inspiring' itself means believing in themselves and believing in others.
What inspired you to start your own business?
To have more flexibility with time for clients and to be in the comfort of my own therapy room, which I have made into a calm and peaceful place in order to encourage and promote grounding and clarity in my client's mind.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am a qualified female psychotherapist and counsellor with an empathic mind and a skill of listening to my clients story. Depending on the narrative, I can either be directed by my client or can be directive using an integrative approach to bring together different elements of specific models or therapies ie. psychodynamic, humanistic and Intercultural.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I provide counselling services either remotely or face-to-face - whatever suits your needs.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
The Government have advised that a number of services are able to stay open such as the NHS and other medical supporting services - it is considered vital that anyone who needs any kind of health or mental care comes forward and seeks help.
I will be closely monitoring and adhering to the national restrictions and guidelines in order to protect my clients, this will include the following:
* hands - asking all clients to use hand sanitiser on arrival which will be provided.
* distancing - wearing a face covering when entering and exiting the counselling room - this can then be removed when seated
* space - the size of the counselling room allows myself and my client to be seated 2 metres apart
* ventilation - the counselling room will be ventilated by keeping the window slightly open
I will be unable to offer my clients water so I suggest that you bring your own bottled water.
Person-centred (PCT)
... this approach facilitates personal growth and encourages self awareness of a client by allowing them to explore and utilise their own strengths and personal identity. Unconditional positive regard and empathy in a non-judgmental environment provides the vital support needed for a client to make their way through this therapeutic journey.
Transactional-Analysis (TA)
.... this focusses on what is actually being perceived and felt in the body which helps to guide thought patterns away from their usual way of thinking, in turn promoting personal growth and change. It is based on the theory of three ego states or distinct attitudes: parent, adult and child and by working with the ego states of an individual alongside other concepts and tools, this can help to analyse communication strategies and identify where interaction may have faltered and what interaction is now needed to move forward in a more positive way.
Gestalt
This philosophical approach is to work with clients and focus the experiential or present moment with an emphasis on what is being done and thoughts and feelings of an individual in the ‘here and now’ as opposed to what was, might have been, could or should be. This approach recognises that sometimes self-awareness becomes blocked by negative thought patterns and behaviours that can leave people feeling dissatisfied. By bringing thoughts and feelings into the present can provide insight into ways to alleviate current issues
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
this is a talking therapy and helps to manage problems by helping you recognise how thoughts can affect your feelings and behaviour. The therapy aims to break overwhelming problems down into smaller parts, making them easier to manage.
Focussing and Mindfulness
This is a process to obtain new insights about one's situation with a connection using words and images in order to gain an inner awareness. It is often that clients have an ‘ah ha’ moment where something suddenly pieces together and leads to better understanding. At this point it isn’t fully understood, but the process of realising something is there, allows the process to move forward.
