We are so grateful! From the first texts about my concerns about my newly rescued 3 year old dog, I felt that my fears were heard and that they cared not only about my dog, but her new family. I was given links to resources to view and was immediately able to make an appt. for the next evening. Upon arriving, our trainer, Abby was warm, professional and took time to not only explain the techniques we could use to build confidence in our fearful pup, but allowed us to interrupt when we needed more info. Maggie, the pup, was “contained” in the kitchen, but while we talked she hopped over the gate. Abby didn’t skip a bit and went about modeling how to help a fearful dog feel safe with new people. She continued educating us, while also mildly engaging Maggie by tossing treats well within Maggie’s comfort zone. This was something I had never really thought about. Abby slowly but steadily gained Maggie’s trust. Within about 20 minutes, Maggie learned to “touch”. Within an hour Maggie had gone from fearful to cuddling with Abby. For any of you who have dogs that are reactive or even just need to brush up on manners, I cannot recommend these ladies (and Francisco! ) enough. They are AWESOME at teaching people how to work together with their dogs in a positive and supportive way instead of trying to 'break them' into submission. Unfortunately, I haven't yet had the opportunity to do any in-person training with them and my dog, but have attended lectures and people-only trainings and loved them! Friday started their 'Explore More, Bark Less' web series, which I've signed up for. I always learn so much from them and come away with great ideas and the motivation to keep working with my scaredy-dog. We've had so much success with K9 Turbo and our scared, anxious dog. It's really about training the owners how to handle their dogs as much as it is training the dogs themselves. We've learned a lot about how our dog reacts to her world, which in turn helps us respond to her. We've done online training, in person seminars and home training. Krista worked with me in our home to help with Stevens basic anxieties (separation, noises) and dog reactivity. Abby and Francisco both worked with Steven on the farm on dog reactivity and other walking techniques. All of the trainers are great not just at training Steven and earning his trust but at teaching the owner the deeper roots of dog behaviors, dog body language, and how to apply general principles to a wide variety of behavioral issues. I have worked with two wonderful K9 trainers; each was so clear and patient in her explanations, and instantly got my dogs to respond to her. Each trainer gave me techniques to help train my dogs which were easy to follow. K9's philosophy is kindness and gentleness and positive reinforcement, and it works. I loved the home visits; the only problem was when I had to say goodbye to the trainer; I wished she could have moved in with us. :-) Katelin, the owner, answers emails immediately (the whole staff does), and is very generous with her time answering questions via email or phone. Boarding my dog at the farm was the best experience, for both of us! My dog is uncomfortable around other dogs so in the past boarding was stressful for her, which stressed me out too. After visiting the farm, I felt so confident that she was being cared for thoughtfully and respectfully that I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation. K-9 turbo and our trainer Anne changed my life and a life of dog name Toast. This beautiful shepherd mix was an absolute reject. His aggression was so high and no trainer could help his previous owner. She was advised virtually by every trainer, vet and shelter worker to put him down. While being on his death row Toast I was offered to adopted him. I knew Toast since he was a pup and had some connection with him. I already had a dog and knew that I’m getting myself not looking towards second one especially knowing that a Toast won’t be fun in a sun dog but what kind of human am I if won’t try. So I got him. It took a lot of research, meds, trails and errors until I found perfect behaviorist in E Lansing that helped with right meds and has recommended K-9. In just under 3 month we have reduced aggression levels, maid new friends, increased tolerance to the outside world and keep on making progress every day. Anne's passion, patience, and intelligence never cease to amaze me. She brings in the most difficult dogs for foster care and adoption that I've ever met. She's taken in feral dogs, dogs with separation anxiety that have chewed through drywall in previous homes, dogs with arousal issues, human directed aggression, dog directed aggression and everything in between. The turnarounds these dogs make is astounding. Dog training isn't just her career, it is her whole life. She never falters with her patience, and her knowledge is absolutely outstanding. I am happy to add to the list of Katelin and Turbo Training "fans". I reached out to Katelin when I was completely at wits end on how to handle a situation between my two rescued babies. Katelin was absolutely AMAZING and truly worked magic with our two "babies". It took time, patience, dedication, and most of all LOVE to turn things around and I am happy to say things are wonderful between our two babies. Katelin can over and did an evaluation on our dog Koda. Koda started showing some nervousness and aggression. She spent 2 hours with us getting to know us and our 2 dogs. She has gave us a way to have Koda get familiar with dogs by playing a game and we are working on that now.

Katelin said that she will email a list of recommendations for products and homework so that we can start working with her even more.

Katelin was very friendly and easy to speak to. Made sure that we understood things that she was explaining.

Katelin is absolutely amazing!!! She walked me through every single step to registering my dog as a therapy pet. Not only did she prepare us/ help us pass the Good Citizen's test, as well as the actual therapy test, but she also taught my dog how to wave, take a bow, give a kiss, leave it, and spin. She regularly provided a professional yet warm demeanor for the entire 3 months of working with her and she always gave us the best advice and feedback. From observing her interact with my dog and listening to her talk about her work, I could tell she was truly passionate about helping dogs and their families. I came to Katelin at a super low point with my dog Simon. His aggression towards other dogs had gotten worse and worse and it felt like nothing would fix it. Wow was I wrong! In six weeks of group reactive classes we went from him fixating on every dog that walked by to being focused on the training and working with me. The transformation is incredible! I cannot begin to describe how amazing Katelin is! We took her dog-reactive course with our Winston and learned so much - he is a completely different dog. She understands every aspect of behavior and explains things in such a way that even the least dog-savvy person can understand.
What's more, when we had an altercation between my dogs Katelin came to our aide immediately, without any hesitation, or even us asking.
She clearly cares deeply and goes so far above and beyond to help her clients and their dogs. Katelin Thomas and Kate Wilson are my heros! No joke! When I at last found them, I was desperate for guidance and understanding as my dog had bitten myself and my mom on 2 separate occasions and we were devastated. I had no idea where to go or how to move forward. In general, most "experts" that I consulted in my area, couldn't give answers or real help. Katelin immediately gave me peace of mind, direction, encouragement, acceptance and love... LOVE for my furry boy that others thought I was crazy to keep. My dog who has been a ROCKstar in this process has been given a second chance at life, and he gets to be a real dog! Katelin and Kate have empowered me with knowledge and the ability to put it into action. The confidence to move and push forward, the comfort of knowing they are there for each milestone no matter how small it may seem or how long the process may take. Katelin is incredibly knowledgeable and has helped me a great deal with my reactive dog. She patiently explains dog-training concepts and makes sure that her clients know how to take this information and apply it in real-life scenarios. We got a puppy a couple of weeks ago, and our world turned into pure chaos! Lol
I knew puppies were hard and no matter how prepared I felt, I was not. I called Katelin desperate for help and she sent me Kate, Kate is from heaven! I was referred to Katelin and Krista via the rescue group that I am fostering with after my foster dog developed separation anxiety. Their task was really two-fold - help the dog's anxiety at being left alone and help my anxiety about not being up for the fostering task. After a course of five meetings they've significantly increased my confidence in my ability to foster and train an awesome future family addition as well as my foster dog's confidence and security. We both have loved training and I learned about so many other aspects of my dog's behavior. Katelin's researched and science based approach really appealed to my own background and studies in the evolution of animal behavior. Katelin is a true gift to the dog training world. Before I found her, I worked with countless trainers (and invested a tremendous amount of time and financial resources) only to make my dog's behavior issue worse. I began obedience training with my pup when he was 8 weeks old. He excelled in obedience, and could do the commands in his sleep. Despite this, we had a specific issue that was really becoming a problem. He was very wary around people he didn't know, particularly when visitors came to our home. Katelin recognized the issue immediately--fear aggression--which was something other professionals had not done. She then referred us to a specialty vet, and provided a very specific training regimen. We are still working through the training, and Katelin had been there every step of the way. Her methods are research based, and she really knows her stuff. She is highly sensitive to the needs of our dog (and his owners, ha!), and is incredibly supportive and professional. She tailored her training approach specifically to our dog, and she truly, truly understands him. I've learned so much about canine communication and body language-its truly amazing. Everyone knows I cannot say enough good things about K9 Turbo Training. I've worked with Katelin and have been to one of Kate's lectures and both experiences have left me energized and ready to start doing more with my dogs. Twice in the past month we have had visitors who have exclaimed that our difficult dog (Mason) is much better behaved than he was last time they were there.

I have to say I was skeptical of the harness. But we just went on a very long walk and she didn't pull me at all!! She is very fearful on walks and the confidence I saw in her today was truly a miracle! I can't explain it, but I think we had the best walk ever today!
