About me

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). At the heart of my practice is the understanding that our relationship is the key component for successful therapeutic outcomes.

As an Integrative Counsellor I have gained the knowledge that a tailored, individual approach is necessary in order to adhere to all specific needs by using key counselling modalities to suit the individualism of each client. Together we will plan a way of working that will help you understand and manage your current difficulties.

Whilst many of us have supportive family and friends who can help with difficulties we face, at times, the closeness of these relationships can detract from our personal journey of growth and discovery. Whilst I appreciate that the thought of counselling may be a difficult step, we will walk the journey together. Offering a neutral perspective throughout sessions, we will explore any issues you wish to share. Providing a therapeutic relationship with honesty and empathy, we will explore any issue within a non-judgmental and confidential space at a pace which enables thorough reflection and scope for change.

I counsel clients on a self-referral basis or through an Employee Assisted Programme of therapeutic support.

I work from two private practices in Kings Norton, Birmingham and Harborne, Birmingham. Both locations are easily accessible by car or public transport and offer on-street parking, free of charge. Both premises are also accessible for disabled clients.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have gained experience supporting people with differing age groups, gender, disabilities, social and cultural backgrounds on a voluntary basis and within my private practice covering a range of difficulties with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, feeling sad and relationship issues to name a few. Qualifications accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB):

BACP Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling (with merit) Level 4 & 5

CPCAB Counselling Skills Level 3

CPCAB Counselling Skills Level 2

AQA Counselling Skills Introductory Level

Various Continued Professional Development sessions attended covering the areas of counselling I have dealt with. Further CPD sessions planned on an ongoing basis to support my practice and client work.

Professional membership:

My registration is detailed on the accredited register of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).

As a member of the BACP, I adhere to its ethical framework and code of conduct (copy of this can be provided on commencement of therapy, if required).

I hold professional indemnity insurance.

I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Any client data is stored in accordance with ICO guidelines (copy of this can be provided on commencement of therapy, if required).

Approved Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

The first session would consist of a one hour assessment appointment which will enable you to share your initial concerns. Between us we can then decide whether I am the most suitable therapist to be able to support you with these issues. We would explore an outline plan of areas to address.

The number of sessions required differs from client to client and a proposed treatment plan will be discussed in the assessment session with regular reviews built in.

All further sessions will last for 50 minutes.

I have varying availability over weekdays, evenings and Saturday appointments.
