About

I offer face to face and telephone therapy.
Quite often we are our own worse critic. Do you take better care of others than you do yourself? Do you feel that people don't really know the "real" you? And if they did see the real you, they wouldn't like you?

The counselling I’ve received from Julie has, over a couple of years, been transformative, helping me find contentment and optimism when I couldn’t before. The therapy is in-depth and empathetic - Julie listens, notices and remembers what you’ve said, making it easy to trust her with difficult things. She’s a laugh too. I’ve incrementally found things easier to deal with, and continue to, as a result of her thoughtful counselling. More...

Julie has been accommodating and welcoming from the first contact. She is warm and friendly, putting you at ease to have those difficult conversations and is not at all judgemental. She is insightful and observant, often seeing things that I wouldn’t have. More...

Did the introductionary session with Julie and we covered a lot of ground just in that hour. She introduced me to transactional analysis and ego states, which I found interesting and applicable to my own issues. I would have continued but decided to go through my university instead to save money as it's free. Julie takes the time to listen to your individual set of issues in order to provide a unique assessment, and I would highly recommend using her More...

Q&As

I love getting to meet such a variety of people and helping them to feel better in themselves. People often feel that there is something wrong with them, or that everyone else is doing so much better. I have found that most of us can feel like this at different times and there is something reassuring to know that we all have our own demons. I believe that it can be really comforting sometimes just to know that there is someone there who understands and listens.

I have worked as a social worker with children and families for 24 years, and for 15 years I have worked with adopted children and their families. It's always fascinated me how our early life experiences affect us in later life and so training in psychotherapy seemed a natural progression for me.

I haven't got a stock answer for this. I think that what works for one person won't work for another. I think that I am a very down to earth person and am easy to talk to. I have lots of life experience to draw on so nothing shocks or surprises me.
I'm really committed to providing a service to all different people and so whilst my fee is £45 an hour, I also offer a reduced rate for those on a low income.

I currently offer face to face and telephone therapy. If a client prefers online then I will offer this.
