Relaxed and informal pub on the main road through Ambleside. Been here many times with no complaints. Could do half price gin everyday. That would be great!

Me and my friend loved it this weekend in Ambleside tavern, it's a shame to come home, the live music and atmosphere is brilliant and the staff are so lovely, helpful and friendly! .. Want to thank again the lad (sorry didn't catch your name) that brought over the ice in a towel for my leg when I stupidly fell up the stairs! totally my fault for getting my big toe stuck in the bottom of my pants!! hopefully be there again soon... Lovely food, lovely setting and fantastic service.

David the manager couldn’t do enough for us. Sat down all 8 of us, rearranged tables, got water for our dogs, a high chair for the baby and everything else with a big smile. What an asset to the pub. Will definitely return.

Popped in here with hubby, daughter and our pooch. We received a very warm welcome. Hubby was quite chuffed with the variety of ales on offer, even got a taster before he decided. We ordered our lunch which was the cumbrian mixed grill, beef dumpling and chips (the chunks of beef were huge and so tender) and a lasagne (which was huge) all I can say was all meals were outstanding. I've been coming upto from North Wales to this pub for a fair few years since i started doing my Wainwrights. On every occasion the staff have always been friendly. The Meals are lovely. Prices are good . Atmosphere is always great. I just love coming here. If there is any walkers in here that want to do the Fairfield Horseshoe use this pub as your final peak of the Route, Easy to get to and a good place for the evening. More...
