Judith is the very definition of home design. She covers the gambit from structure and layout; through floors, windows and walls; beautiful furnishings; and finally in the tiny details that make a house a home. Her design know-how is deep – so solid that she can educate and advise with ease and grace. This combination of breadth and depth was what drew me to her. I had recently purchased a house in the suburbs, and was eager to make it a home. I was looking for very basic design advice: where to start, how to focus, what to invest. She delivered. Judith was exactly what I was looking for. She helped me create a very personal vision of my home that started with listening to what I wanted for feel and function, and then incorporated all of things that I love, and many of the things that I had brought from my former home. Our initial consultations were focused on the big questions, then easily moved to an organized budget and plan. I would highly recommend Judith to anyone who loves quality furniture and has been reluctant to purchase retail. I had been looking for just the right couch for my living room for many many years, and never satisfied with the choices available at retail stores. I wanted good looks and good quality - very hard to find in a retail store without paying an arm and a leg! Hiring Judith was the best experience in furniture buying that I've every had. I quickly learned good looks and good quality is not really how to buy furniture. Judith has an incredible ability to understand how the furniture will be used and how it will fit into the overall look and feel of the room. For me, not only did I get the couch of my dreams, I also got an inviting armchair and ottoman to go along with it... all made right here in Canada and all within my budget. Kudos Judith! I hired Judith to help me decorate my master bedroom. I felt fortunate that she was willing to take on this small project, and she has been wonderful to work with. She is prompt to respond, quickly understood my vision, is respectful of the scope of my budget, and has pushed me beyond what I would have done by myself to achieve a professional result. Recently divorced and the new owner of an all-white condo, Judith became my partner in design and we embarked on a journey to create my nest. The project was mutli-faceted-lighting plan; construction; painting; wallpaper; tiling; custom drapery and upholstery and overall design. Judith coordinated all aspects of the project and sourced and brought in skilled contractors and tradespeople. The budget for the project was fluid, but Judith can assess value and was practical and pragmatic in eliminating things that really were not necessary. The design aspects were collaborative and efficient-Judith is a good listener and she whittled down the choices to a manageable number and were consistent with what I had described as my style and aesthetic. She gently nudged me towards patterns and palettes that I would not have found on my own but in the end resulted in a beautifully curated home with each room slightly different but still all flowing together. Judith’s attention to detail is high and she takes great interest and pride in the little things like trim on pillows and window coverings that make the final product very custom and unique. We used Judith's services for a kitchen and dining room renovation. We were very pleased with the final result. So pleased in fact that we were originally renovating to sell and then changed our minds and decided to stay! There were a few other deciding factors in our decision to stay of course but the beautiful new kitchen was the kicker.

Judith was always very professional and a pleasure to work with. She transformed our outdated and cluttered kitchen into a gorgeous user friendly space. And she respected our limited budget. That was hugely appreciated!

Judith also stopped by the house often to see the progress of the work and kept us well informed as to what needed to be addressed next. She was punctual and reliable and a great problem solver. An example of her problem solving skills was when we noticed that our kitchen ceiling was higher than our dining room ceiling. She suggested that we add a "faux beam" with spot lighting instead of ripping down the ceiling and rebuilding it. This solution not only looked amazing but also saved us a ton of money and grief.

So we can honestly say that using Judith Taylor Designs was money well spent. We highly recommend Judith's services and would use her again for a future renovation in a heartbeat. More...

Judith has used my painting and wallpapering services on a few of her projects. She is very organized and on the ball with her projects. She responds to emails in a timely fashion and makes sure the project runs very smoothly. Also, her colour consultation services are great, she has a keen eye for colour, uses big colour chips so that a true sense of the colour can be determined before the paint goes on the wall. Judith is amazing!!!

I asked Judith to help me design my living room, which is quite large and has all sorts of lighting, spatial and flow challenges (it's an old house, and I don't want to gut it in favour of an entirely new layout). She has taken on these challenges with enthusiasm, imagination and flair. I engaged her design expertise in order to allow this difficult room to blossom, and I am incredibly pleased with the result.

Judith has taken considerable time to work with me to help me figure out what I want from this space, in my case, balancing everyday needs (e.g., what to do with the TV) with entertaining (e.g., having enough seating for guests) with design (i.e., working a design in a way that both everyday and entertaining needs are met in an aesthetically pleasing way). She has given me advice on everything from layout to furniture to colour palette; she has also helped me develop my own aesthetic for the room so that I can make decisions about specific design features, e.g., carpets, furniture and art (I had several large pieces that needed to be part of the design plan).

I strongly recommend Judith. She has managed to balance her aptitude for design with her willingness to listen in ways that I didn't think possible. I will, most certainly, be asking her back when I embark on my next project. More...

I am typically a person who will design/renovate my home with my family's input however when we choose to renovate the main floor of our home with emphasis on our kitchen I knew that I would feel less stressed with a professionals opinion. Choosing colours and a theme to compliment our style, accommodating existing furnishings, rugs, art, etc was intimidating for me however Judith guided me through a process to educate her about my personal style and I feel that she continued to make recommendations that best suited to us. Judith was my sanity through all intimidating decisions and when myself, my husband and the contractors were at a cross road, Judith provided visual ideas so that we could make our decision in confidence as opposed to guessing what the end result would look like. With not living full-time in Toronto it was very important to find the right person to handle our condo kitchen renovation. Fortunately we found Judith, who with her team, handled the complete kitchen renovation, tiling of the entrance, kitchen and bathroom floors and updating the bathroom.

Judith was nothing short of professional and we would not hesitate to recommend her. We appreciated the design selections made on our behalf and felt confident the project was being very well managed. Her team were very professional and worked to the same high standards that Judith demands of herself.

When I lived in an older bungalow, my furnishings and accessories worked well together. My husband and I were renovating our kitchen and needed design help instantly as we were going away for a week and our contractor was about to begin demolition. Judith responded immediately to our plight and helped put us back on track with the right flooring and backsplash to go with the countertop we had purchased. I had the delightful opportunity to work with Judith Taylor Designs when I redid my master bath and bedroom. She provided great design advice and helped me avoid many mistakes. My en-suite is stunning and my bedroom is calming and cozy.

What I like best about working with Judith is that she really understood my own taste. She did not force her style onto me. Instead, she helped me bring out the best looks of the things I was attracted to and she stretched me design wise.

As a result it all works together, and it is more beautiful than I expected . I get a ton of compliments.

Judith Taylor Designs redecorated a luxury condo that I typically rent for the owners during the months of June, July, August and September in our resort area.

Judith Taylor, who in my opinion is a consummate professional and gifted decorator, completely transformed this tired 3 bedroom 2 bath condo into a pristine breezy by-the-sea luxury escape with high quality flooring, carpeting, cabinetry and furniture and fixtures.

Both last year and this year this Condo was the first to completely rent out for the season. Once the potential tenants saw the unit and compared it to the other units, this one rented hands down.

My husband and I have been stuck on a design dilemma for some time now regarding our fireplace. He likes wood, I like a fresh coat of paint. We hired Judith for a one time design consultation and she came up with an idea neither of us had thought of. I recommend her if you want to do it yourself but want some fresh ideas and the assurance you are headed in the right direction. Next up for us is new drapes. Judith has a lovely ready-made collection that would suit any style.
