My wife and i moved to Chester two weeks ago, from the time we spoke to Matthew Botterill on the telephone to turning up in Chester, Matthew informed us every step of the way. The team arrived at 9am as Matthew said they would, they loaded up with care and attention and arrived in Chester at 12.45 to unload.They put every thing where we wanted it, the sun was shining such a perfect move. After they had some lunch with us and refreshments, they were on there way at 2.45. Hadn't come across Journeys and we had spoken to someone else, but then my Aunt said that she had used Journeys before. Yesterday was the big day for us, and I cant thank the team enough for all they have done to make a massive day run so smoothly. John was on the spot with a direct and fair quote, Matt has responded to me quickly with everything we asked and Damion and Richard who did the hard-yards of moving all our possessions were the tops. Thank you soooo very much to the whole team at Journeys for making our dreams come true and moving all of our belongings from the Midlands down here to Cornwall! It had been a long term dream, but with so many things to consider and so daunting to make this big move to the wonderful county of Cornwall. Journeys took all of the stress out of moving.From the first meeting with John, to the great option of having the three day process for long haul trips, packing all of our things over two days then moving into our new home on the third, all we had to do was sit back and put our trust in the hands of real experts. The removal team are gold, incredibly caring, professional and experienced people who we could have complete faith in from day one. We were very lucky.... we could have gone to one of the giant removal companies but I am sure that their service would not have been a patch on Journeys, as they really care. hello John.Sorry for the delay in sending. We were without a phone line for a week, and then plagued with a faulty internet connection which finally got sorted yesterday. we would like to thank you for your excellent service during our removal for sutton coldfield a week ago .your staff were terrific carful obliging pleasant we could not have ask for more.On the removal day itself we started off wondering whether all promises made during the the estimation visit would actually happen . the phrase dose exactly what it says on the tin springs to mind. Everything happened precisely as described before hand. we are absolutely delighted with how efficiently and smoothly everything went. It made what could have been a very stressful day almost pleasant! Finally i must mention Ryan, it was quite late in the day when i was astonished to find out he was on work experience from school. He worked brilliantly for all of the 2 days. Journey's Removals did an amazing job for me. And that's not something I say lightly as I'm very picky, really bossy and absolutely shameless about changing my mind when needed! The way I saw it, a moving company is there to solve problems for me, not be a problem.Journeys did it at every turn and did it with style, good grace and humour. All I ever heard from the boss John was "don't worry about the latest change in plans, we'll just fit it in and guarantee to get the job done, you have my word on it." And all I ever heard from the team of movers was "not a problem, we'll do that right away" or very occasionally "I suspect it won't work but let's try first before we know for sure." Gone are the days of your average British workman carrying his inevitable chip on the shoulder, these guys are the living embodiment of great service combined with years of experience and an old fashioned British degree of professionalism and calmness throughout, with every team member still unflappable at the end of some very long exhausting days of hard work.We had a difficult move with many different parts over several months; multiple runs to the dump (just what do you do with the 40 year old family rabbit hutch rotting in the garden?); charity runs (and I mean a whole days worth of house clearing resulting in a large van full of charity/rubbish that I left them to sort out later at their depot in their own time - wow guys, thank you!), surprise last minute charity shop runs (oops, I forgot about the 3 extra wardrobes - sorry); storage runs (down a narrow country lane and yes, more stairs); constantly shifting moving dates (our first buyers pulled out last minute and I had a very limited window of opportunity to make this move happen and in the end I was only able to give them 2 days notice - thanks John for standing by me); bossy demanding clients (me!) living in America (8 hour time difference and phone, text and email communication all seamlessly handled over months of planning and re planning); international shipping options; elderly ladies to be pandered to at elderly lady speed. They had to pack (yes I am going to stand here and watch you pack this antique clock), unpack (where did you put the.....?), move things around ("No, I think it actually looks better back where it was.... sorry.") and take away all the packing materials. We had a large bookcase that just wasn't going to fit no matter how many ways I had you try to get it in (and yes, I had them try it as much as humanly possible); a block of flats that doesn't allow movers to use the lift (in case it breaks again of course); museum quality antiques to pack; over 100 paintings; innumerable antique breakables and let's face it, it wouldn't be a good house move without a piano right? Yeah, we had a piano too.Everyone at Journeys offered excellent advice and did a great job, but the true test of a good crew in any business is when things go wrong and plans change. Three events standout in my mind as examples of just how great these guys were when things didn’t go according to plan.The first test was when I kept them hanging on for a confirmed exchange of contracts until just 2 days before we actually moved, and John just handled it. No freaking out. No "We can't do this", just calm communication and reassurance. He was great.The second test was when we realized on the final move day that we had way too much stuff to get rid of easily (oops, my bad) and Matt didn't turn a hair but quickly organized for a charity to come and pick it up last minute.
