I planned a Pakistani destination wedding in San Diego. Dana was AWESOME. This was her first time coordinating a Pakistani wedding, but she was exceptional at making all my wedding visions come to reality.
4 weeks prior to my wedding, I had a family emergency, and was unsure until about 14 days prior to the wedding date if things would resume as planned. Dana was so reliable. While I spent my days and nights in the hospital visiting with family, she was my voice to all my vendors.
The day of the wedding, Dana came with a team of 3 to make sure that the wedding ran on schedule, and all my visions were realized. She was awesome. (by the way, the wedding ran AHEAD of schedule...which is unbelievable considering I had 200 guests)

From day one, Dana was great to us. When we did the venue walk-through she helped us paint a picture of where everything would go.
She coordinated the tasting, which was a very sweet and memorable experience. From those early stages where we are figuring out so many big decisions, she was always there for us and so supportive, always having helpful recommendations, but never being pushy.
The wonderful recommendations for vendors from Dana were perfect and I can’t imagine anything better that our A-team (Whimsey Florals, Holly Ireland Photography, Blush & Adore and DJ Preston). She was incredible in confirming every detail with the vendors, making it so easy for us. We didn’t have to worry about a thing.
Dana managed the rehearsal perfectly, and helped us all through that process and it made for a perfect day-of. We all felt very prepared going into the wedding day.
A big part of this process was that we were planning this wedding from the east coast, and we honestly cannot imagine how we would have been able to pull this off without Dana. She made the whole process so easy and fun - whenever we communicated with her, we always ended up feeling much more at ease.
Dana was an excellent communicator, and effortlessly juggled so many moving parts (and fielded dozens of emails from me) always being prompt in her response.
Dana executed the day-of perfectly, from all the specific logistical details to the big elements of the wedding. It was extremely challenging because it rained on our wedding day, and our wedding was supposed to be outside. Dana helped us through the adjustments and when we had to relocate our ceremony inside, she pulled off a beautiful setting for us - we wouldn’t have changed a single thing. The execution of the timeline was flawless and her management of the onsite deliveries and setup was great.
Every single step of the way, Dana was there for us. She is clearly an extraordinary wedding planner, and truly has a gift. Dana was able to instill confidence in us every step of the way, and we always felt like no matter what, she had everything under control. I've never worked with wedding coordinators as involved as they are. They emailed the schedule out timely with every detail so that I would be ready. During family photos, Dana even stepped up to help me coordinate the crowd and got them excited for their turn, haha! We shot at the Tom Ham Light house and during the portrait session, and she was so involved in helping the bride with her dress and making sure we have enough time for different locations. She never rushed and made sure the bride and I got enough photos during the session.
Jackquelyn is so attentive to all her brides and would think of things they wouldn't think of. She helped hunt and line people up for the ceremony in a timely manner. She made sure all the vendors arrived early and everything was set up so early, I didn't have to wait long to do detail shots of the reception. I live up in Northern CA, so Dana and I spoke on the phone, and I could tell she was the right fit just from our conversation. I met her and Jackquelyn for the first time at our month-prior walkthrough, and they immediately jumped into all the details. I was out of town on a work trip the weekend before our wedding, and there were a lot of situations that came up last minute that needed to be resolved with other vendors, and Dana stepped in and handled everything seamlessly, and I was so grateful! Not only did Dana and Jackquelyn handle the vendor communication and coordination, but they also brought my vision to life. I spent months creating my decorations and envisioning how it would all come together, and Dana and Jackquelyn executed it even better than I had imagined. Jackquelyn made everything about the planning and execution of our wedding as easy and seamless as possible. From the very start, I was given a list of reputable vendors to cover every aspect of my wedding--from flowers to an awesome DJ. I had a last minute cancellation with my original flower vendor and Jackquelyn was able to quickly find me a new florist who fulfilled every aspect of my vision for my wedding florals.
I also appreciated how Jackquelyn kept in frequent contact with all of my vendors from the day of booking to the day of the wedding. Everything was expertly coordinated so that vendors were arriving in a timely manner, with no detail lacking.
On the day of our wedding, Jackquelyn put my mind at ease by managing all vendor deliveries while also coordinating the set-up and breakdown of all of our reception decor. Not only did she set-up all the decor so that the reception was dreamy and elegant but Josefina Events also contributed numerous pieces to the decor as well. They created a personalized corn hole set-up, welcome sign, backdrop for our sweetheart table, beverage sign, and a few other signs to add a special touch to our wedding decor.
Jackquelyn also perfectly executed our timeline so that each special moment was happening in a timely fashion to keep our wedding guests thoroughly engaged. My daughter chose Josefina Events to be her ”day- of wedding coordinator”, and we could not have been more pleased, and actually over-impressed by the experience last weekend. Dana became very involved a little over a month prior to the wedding, and exceeded all our expectations. Our daughter is very detail-oriented and had a vision she had worked on for 10 months. Dana understood completely what was needed to make her day what she had dreamed of, and overcame every hurdle for us. The thought of having to plan a wedding while attending my last year of graduate school was an immediate stressor! Being in San Diego we looked into some venues in Mexico and everything was just falling through. We had even considered postponing the wedding or eloping considering that he was starting graduate school as well and we just started to get discouraged. Luckily for me, I found Josefina Events! After one call with Laura, I immediately felt at ease and knew that with their help we could make it happen! My husband and I decided to go with the Meet me Halfway Package since we knew we were going to need a lot of direction. We also asked if they could assist us in finding a venue since we were both of steam. Dana immediately took the reigns and started our venue search and it's all history from there! Dana helped us find our perfect venue and also kept us in line with our budget. The planning process was beginning to become more enjoyable and stress-free. She assisted us with all the vendors and revised contracts. Communication between us was outstanding! We believe that the wedding wouldn't have turned out as amazing as it did without her. She was so easy to work with and really made all my visions come to life on our wedding day. Everything from the church ceremony to the end of the reception was so well organzied and put together. Dana really went above and beyond the call of duty when it came to contacting her before the wedding. The last couple of weeks is about the most nerve wracking and she was always there by my side having my back with anything that came to mind. Dana also worked very well with all our vendors for the wedding and took total charge of the wedding day which I can't even begin to explain how thankful i was for that. I was recently a bridesmaid at my friend's wedding at Hyatt Mission Bay. I have been in several weddings over the last 5 years, some in which my friend's hired coordinators and others in which they didn't. In my own wedding, I didn’t hire a coordinator and if I had the opportunity to go back in time, hands down I would hire Josefina Events. I had the BEST time at my friend's wedding and I realized it was because of her incredible planner, Dana Blancaflor. As bridesmaids we tend to try to do everything we can to make the day special for the bride. I have been in weddings where the bridesmaids literally set up every detail for the reception after getting hair and makeup done (not ideal!). I would do anything to make my friends’ day special, but The experience is so much more enjoyable for everyone involved when you have a planner who takes care of business. Dana is not a coordinator - she is a Coordinator Extrordinaire! My husband and I had done most of the planning ourselves but as the wedding date got closer, things became more and more overwhelming. We needed guidance and we needed help and we needed it ASAP. Since our wedding was a beach ceremony followed by a reception on a rooftop terrace there were many logistics to go over. My now husband (best fiance ever) actually was the one that contacted Dana and hired her on the spot. He had been given her name by a coworker who also had a stressed bride and it's not wonder. I was recently married in La Quinta, CA at my parent's home. I can honestly tell you I have been dreaming about my wedding day every since I was a little girl. At first, I thought I could plan the wedding for 150 guests with the help of my mother but as we began to plan we realized there are way more pieces to the puzzle than we had considered. Although, I did include a planner in my budget I realized that the time and energy (not to mention stress) I would be saving myself would be well worth it. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE! I worked with Laura and contracted her for the "Meet Me Halfway" package. This package allowed me to be heavily involved in the fun stuff but let a professional navigate the waters and guide me, helping me with budget planning, layout design, hiring vendors and oh my gosh there was so much more. When it came to the day of I honestly felt like a princess and my wonderful mom felt like a queen. We literally just enjoyed it and were able to be in the moment. I planned most of my October wedding myself, but since my wedding was going to be at my parent's house in their backyard, I felt I needed a day of coordinator to help me bring everything together and handle logistics. At the time of hiring JE, I couldn't have imagined the amount of work tying everything together would have been, but because I had Laura (and Dana day-of) everything came together seamlessly! Laura provided just the guidance we needed to make our ceremony run smoothly, hosting a rehearsal the day before, and handled all communication with vendors 10 days before the wedding, allowing me to relax and prepare for the big day. When my fiancé and I began planning for our wedding, we knew we wanted a Day-of coordinator. This became even more important to us when a job opportunity arose and we found ourselves moving to South Korea 8 months before our wedding day. After my initial conversation with Dana and her team I knew we had made the right choice. They customized a coordinator package, which perfectly met the needs of our 250 guest-Mexican-Indian-Black-fusion-international-non-traditional wedding. Dana and her team’s flexibility was great for us and they were extremely responsive and helpful leading up to our wedding day. This was really important since the venue we chose (Marina Village) meant we were bringing in all of our own vendors which required lots of coordination. They had worked with the majority of our vendors before, which was a huge relief, and in addition, had coordinated weddings at our venue previously so they knew the ins and outs. Dana gave us great recommendations for vendors we needed and even helped us move things along when some vendors weren’t very responsive. My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Dana with Josefina Events for our wedding! As the youngest of four married siblings, my mom feels like a wedding planning expert.
Our venue recommended that we hire a coordinator, and at first my mom and I were skeptical since we are super organized and she has planned weddings before. After my mom met with Dana however, she could see the value in having a coordinator, so we decided to move forward!
We chose the Day of Package which allowed for two weeks prior to the wedding of heavy planning, organizing, and scheduling. However, in the months leading up to the wedding Dana even answered questions and sent me recommendations for vendors I was having trouble deciding on. She also gave me an online tool to use for organizing our seating arrangement which was SO helpful. Even as "experienced" of a wedding planner my mom was with having three children married, we still had so many questions!
I cannot imagine having the wedding day flow as smoothly as it did without Dana's coordination. As the mother of the bride I dont know what we would have done with out our wedding planner Dana. She took the last month when all the real craziness began and made it easy. I did not have to worry about the schedule at all. She kept us up to date and answered her phone if we had a question day or night. I never thought the day of the wedding could be as smooth as it was. I needed ear rings she had them. One of the groomsmen who flew in the night before the wedding ended up with pants too big and she pinned him up literally so his pants stayed on! We got the Make My Day package and Dana was our head coordinator and Dorothy assisted her. Our guests later told us how lovely and helpful Dorothy had been and my mom still can’t stop talking about how helpful they were! Dana went above and beyond and even helped me use the restroom several times in my big dress :) She was totally there for us for everything we needed from even before our wedding to everything on the day-of. I was pretty flexible as far as the décor goes and they made it look FANTASTIC! My husband and I were blown away by just how lovely everything looked and how the day came together. We planned our wedding from Denver and having had Dana to go over everything with took a lot of stress off our backs. This was the best day of our lives and we were able to really enjoy it because the ladies handled everything that went on behind the scenes. We live in Arizona and one of my concerns with planning an out of state wedding was knowing which vendors to use and not being there to coordinate with them. As a wedding DJ, I have worked with many coordinators and planners over the past few years, and I would easily say that Dana has been the best one I have ever worked with. I had the pleasure of working with Dana at this past weekend's wedding at Maderas Golf Club in Poway, and she helped make the whole event a huge success. My review is much overdue. I married the love of my life on 12/12/15. A co-worker raved about her wedding planner and suggested I contact her to help with the planning. We hired Laura and her amazing team (Dana and Gabi) for our wedding this past October 17, 2015. We hired her to help us with last month coordination and we were in contact with her even before the last month.
She was always so open and willing to answer any questions we had. I was referred to Josefina Events by a photographer who had recently done an event with them. I am so glad she told me about them! I started out having a conversation with Laura, who was very sweet and knowledgeable. We discussed which type of wedding planning package would be appropriate for my event. We decided on the "day of" (which is really more like 2 weeks before) package. Laura was willing to be flexible on pricing with packages, if we decided we wanted to upgrade later in the game. The coordinator we were assigned was Dana. She was amazing! While we found and booked our vendors, Dana was able to pick up where we left off and truly orchestrated it so that they all worked seamlessly together. She was incredibly responsive to my many (many, many...) emails and phone calls with questions and concerns. She also has a sweet, calm, flexible and professional demeanor which is extremely helpful when dealing with wedding planning stress :). I am A-type, creative and a bit of a control-freak. Finding the perfect planner, someone I trust enough to plan my wedding, was a bit stressful.
I interviewed 3 event planners before my meeting with Laura/Josefina Events. They were all impressive; there was this cute blonde with a Marcia Brady disposition, she sported a killer Kate Spade bag and a serious agenda that booked events up to 2017! I almost hired her. But then I met Laura... It took me only 15 minutes to realize she's 'the one', so I hired her on the spot. Full time. I'm sure Marcia Brady probably would have done the job right, but I'm also sure I would have just been another pencil marking in her calendar. Laura, on the other hand, made me feel as though I was the only Bride in the world, not just in that first meeting, the entire engagement. I had my wedding almost 3 weeks ago and it was flawless. At every opportunity Laura went above and beyond. The venue (which she found) was GORGEOUS, I could not have dreamt of a better place. The vendors (the food…the cake…the florist..etc)…all perfect. I had several people tell me how perfect everything was and how great my planner is. And best part, we stayed within budget.
Day of wedding - Laura (and Dana) = BOSS! While getting ready, I took a moment to observe how on-top-of-it they were… total ass–kickers. Laura thought of everything, lunch for me and the girls while getting ready…arranging a dog sitter for my little one…last minute heaters for the guest…a total problem solver. Laura was great. A true life saver. But more on that in paragraph2. We used Laura as our day-off coordinator. She was a referral from a friend who works with her.
Laura met with us well in advance to get the details of the wedding and described her process. We felt comfortable that she would have our best interests at heart and she truly did. She was organized, as promised kept to the timelines she described. She was available and responsive when we needed her leading up to big day.
Then came the true value of Laura. On the day many things went wrong, as we now learned about weddings. We were using a venue that have a few buildings and we knew that we may have other events going on. We did however have the outside ceremony area booked for ourselves. Some of my family went to check it out a few hours before the event, and found that people were setting up Taco carts to serve food directly behind our ceremony location. Not ideal. We called Laura and she handled it! It wasn’t easy though. The vendor was very difficult, and Laura had to get the venue involved to move them so they could be in compliance with their contract. Thank you Laura! Then we had the food vendor from hell. The person failed to deliver on several of the contracted arrangements, including table set up, showing up with certain menu items, and breaking down the tables. Lauren was great, she and her assistant set up the tables, monitored the food, and she ended up ordering pizza to make sure we feed our guests (yes, we ran out, with 20 people not fed). She was awesome and dealt with all the problems.
So all in all, Lauren made the day a success. She went over and above what was required of her, was awesome to work with, really cared about us and our day, and followed up on what happened with the food vendor. She was worth every penny, and we would highly recommend her to anyone. More...
We hired Josefina events for the partial planning service- as we don't know much at all about planning a wedding, let alone in our own backyard!
The first time we met, she had a pretty good vision and a very enthusiastic attitude. During the planning stage, she recommended some really amazing vendors that matched our personalities and style; and when there're some hiccups with one vendor (which wasn't her fault), she made sure things are fixed FAST and we got the service we deserved from the vendor- she would jump on the matter whenever she feels her client is mistreated- so we don't have to stress over it :)
The day of the wedding, her team was punctual, PROFESSIONAL and friendly to all our guests. They helped set things up and break down efficiently throughout the evening. We had 2 dogs that Dana (one girl on the team) took really good care of during the wedding- which was a huge help as well!

Laura is fantastic! When my husband and I were planning our wedding we decided that we weren't going to hire a wedding planner.
I figured that the two of us were capable of finding vendors, negotiating contracts, etc. and that we may as well save the money of a coordinator. As we got closer to our event, though, it became evident that we were going to need someone to execute everything on the day of the wedding.
So we hired Laura as our day-of coordinator. Laura was great! Our reception was at the new Central Library in downtown SD. It was a beautiful but complicated venue because of all of the rules that they had. Laura was able to navigate all of that. Weeks before the wedding she gave us great recommendations on how to set everything up in the reception space. And she contacted every single one of our vendors prior to wedding to get everything coordinated.
On the day of our wedding my husband and I showed up at the reception and loved everything we saw. The space looked great, and Laura didn't miss a single detail. The day before the wedding I sent her an email explaining how we wanted the wedding favors set out on the table. It was perfect! She didn't miss a beat. And here's one thing I found out during the wedding: It goes FAST. It's like being an A-list celebrity for a night - you spend the entire night hugging people that you haven't seen in forever, taking selfies with your friends, dancing with your family, etc. It was such a relief to have Laura working behind the scenes making sure that everything went seamlessly. She created a timeline for us before the wedding and made sure that we got all of the big events in - the cake cutting, the bouquet toss, all of that!
Even though we saved some money on not having a full wedding planner, my husband and I aren't the type of people that enjoy planning all the details of a big event like a wedding. If that sounds like you, I would recommend hiring Laura as your coordinator from day one! More...

My son and daughter in law picked Laura to do "day of" wedding coordination. This included the rehearsal and day of the wedding. After our initial meeting with Laura I asked her to assist me in finding a venue for the rehearsal dinner. I worked with her on an hourly basis separately from her fees for wedding coordination. I live out of town and she was very helpful in giving me ideas about possible venues and themes from my very large (60 people) rehearsal dinner. I was able to ask her questions and advice, and she steered me in the right direction. It was money well spent to have her to talk to about all the details, even though I did the planning myself.
On the day of the rehearsal and the wedding, she was organized, flexible, and totally lovely to work with. She and her assistant Dana were on top of everything, and made it possible for me to relax and enjoy the wedding with not a care in the world.

We had our wedding at the Coronado Cays Yacht Club on October 25, 2014 and hired Laura for our "Day of Coordinator". We could not be happier her services.
From our first meeting with her she was very supportive and quick to respond to any of our questions. Our wedding was planned in a very short period of time so things were pretty hectic, especially when we got down to the last week. But when the big day finally came Laura and her assistant Dana did an excellent job of facilitating the wedding and everything went off without a hitch. We just had a backyard wedding in June, and hiring Laura for our event was the best first step we could have possibly made in our wedding planning process.
Both me and my (new!) husband are artistic, creative people, and we were willing to do a lot of things ourselves, like make our own invitations and menus, invent new cocktails, or come up with a list of the best dance songs. But when it came to the actual coordination, I knew that we would need help getting from point A to point B.
Enter Laura Magid! I researched several wedding coordinators in the San Diego area, and out of all of the people I called, Laura was the most warm and genuine. While one coordinator that I called laughed at my wedding budget (!), Laura was immediately receptive to our financial concerns; she would continue to give me money-saving tips for the entire time leading up to the wedding.
We hired her for partial planning, but this is a woman who goes above and beyond, whether you hire her for a year or a day of planning. She is so thorough and on top of things, that the entire planning process (and wedding itself!) went off without a hitch. If there ever were any problems, I have no idea about them -- she took care of everything like Wonder Woman.

After reading the super reviews from Josefina’s Wedding and Events on Yelp.com I contacted Josefina Events to see about her doing day-of-coordination for my wedding over the 4th of July weekend on July 5th. It was a 100 person picnic-style wedding and I had procrastinated about hiring a day-of-coordinator. I honestly thought my wife and I could handle everything on our own with the help of our friends - but we were so overwhelmed with the details I started to panic. My wife made all of the favors, centerpieces, et.c but didn't know how to create a layout or where things should go and what the timeline should be. When I called Josefina Events, Laura (the owner) was friendly and professional on the phone. She informed me that she was unavailable for day-of-coordination due to being booked already for another wedding but that her top event manager, Gabi, was available that day. I was a little hesitant to go with the second-in-command but Laura assured me that Gabi was her “right-handed woman”, was experienced, and would do a great job. Boy, was she right. Gabi was professional, personable, and ensured that all of the details of our wedding day ran smoothly – she was simply, ON POINTE. She handled everything with a smile – from managing the vendors, to setting up, to ensuring all of our wishes were met. When I got engaged and knew we had to plan within 6 months, I knew I needed a wedding coordinator. I met Laura volunteering for a non-profit, the Princess Project. I saw how great and passionate she was in planning events. Also, Laura has a personality of a boss, and you need that type of coordinator when they are going to be managing all of your vendors. I knew that she would do a great job coordinating our wedding. We hired Laura as a partial planner and it was the best wedding money spent. Laura called me to discuss the details when I first inquired about her services 4 months prior to our wedding. She understood my vision of a small, intimate, non-traditional wedding. It took place in the backyard of a vacation home we rented so it was very DIY including the set up, clean up, timeline and flow. The cost for her services where beyond reasonable.
She checked in leading up to the wedding and helped out with vendor recommendations and time lines. Two weeks prior when things were getting crazy she coordinated the timing and confirmed the vendors I booked. Having booked everyone online and not actually meeting anyone beyond an email conversation- it was such a relief she was confirming all the details! I met Laura last year, while volunteering with The Princess Project. She planned and orchestrated a first-time event for this amazing non-profit.
Let me tell you, it was beautiful and a great success. My first impression of Laura was "this girl has a lot of passion and she is a firecracker." I could see that Laura was a go-getter. Laura is so much more than a coordinator. At times she was a counselor, at times an artist, at one point a seamstress, often a guardian angel, and several times a magician. Laura is an expert at coordinating events. We have used her for several of the fundraisers for The Princess Project. She planned out first inaugural "Tea for Tiaras" fundraiser for The Princess Project- what a huge success. My partner and I decided to hire Laura as a full planner. We were having a very intimate wedding of only 60 people on the beach and though I had an idea of what I wanted I couldn’t really picture it. All we knew was that we wanted it in May in the evening and have our guests stay within walking distance of the affair. After the first time my partner and I spoke with Laura we knew she understood us. We wanted FUN – almost bonfire like. Laura did just that. Laura is truly a wedding guardian. My mom says that Laura is the best thing that happened to her because she got to enjoy her only daughter’s wedding! I hired Laura 3 weeks before my big day! As the date got closer I realized there was still a bunch of loose ends – vendor confirmations, music selections, layout, timeline, etc. to deal with and honestly my head was spinning. I still hadn’t even written my vows. My mom’s friend told her to have me call “this girl” – she could do it all. Little did I know, “this girl’’ would come in and wave her magic wand!!! Laura from Josefina Events is UNBELIEVABLE! I had a backyard wedding last May, and as a DIY queen, I made everything from the favors, to the floral arrangements, and (of course) my family and I made the desserts. My family and friends had put so much time and energy into planning this big day, I decided I needed someone to manage it so that I could just enjoy it! BEST DECISION EVER! Laura was the first person there and the last person to leave. She set everything up exactly how I asked her to and at the end of the night broke everything down and made sure everything was taken care of so I could just be on my way. Not only that, she started working with me about 2 weeks before the big day, meeting with me to do a walk though of the venue (my grandparents' home), designing the layout, and conducting the rehearsal. I can’t believe her package included all that! Basically, I got Laura for a steal of a price and can honestly say she was worth double (if not triple) her cost. It’s like I had a consultant for the last 2 weeks and not just a "day of" coordinator. . She was able to use her expert judgment to refer us to vendors who perfectly matched our style and vision, and she gave us the best advice we could ever ask for. She also helped to explain some of our vendor contracts and was really great at helping us to explain our needs to our vendors.
My wife had a really specific vision for what she wanted our reception to look like, and Laura did a fantastic job of listening to the snippets of vision and helping us to articulate it for our vendors. I’m a project manager, and Laura was a huge help in scheduling and executing our program.
We knew from our first meeting that she was the perfect planner for us, and we were totally right. She answered all of our emails within a day, and took care of stuff for us in minutes that would have taken my wife and I days to resolve.
