As a newly encorporated independent film production company, a really eye catching logo was top of our priority list. I'm pleased to say that Jonk Design absolutely nailed it. Their communication, attention to detail and patience throughout the whole process made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience working with them and I would recommend them to anyone in a heart beat. Jon was all too happy to work with different ideas, and offer great advice based on his experience and expertise, and our company and logo have benefitted greatly as a result. The price was very reasonable, and we will certainly look to work with Jonk Design in the future.

Jonk design will offer you a professional, considerate service. You won’t be screwed on pricing, you won’t find a more imaginative designer and you will be very happy at the end of the process. If you are not - Jonk will not sleep until you are smiling!

What makes a great website?

There are several key ingredients to consider when creating a website. A website that is well-balanced and where all of the areas below have been thought of is guaranteed to be more successful than the competition.
Start at the top and work your way down. Your website is a reflection of your other marketing materials i.e. logo, business cards, corporate identity, etc., so it goes without saying that your website can only be as good as your strong marketing presence.
A clip art logo and a homemade perforated edge business card is not necessarily the running good start to a good website project. If this is the case, you may wish to consider taking 1 step back first and spending a little bit more time on these efforts, first and foremost.
Same as with your corporate identity and branding, it is critical that you have a profound understanding of your business, target audience and even your competitors before proceeding with a website project.
Especially if you have recently undergone any major restructuring, inheriting a business, purchasing a new business, etc.
If you don't know where you are going, you are bound to end up somewhere else!
Proper planning and thought process pre-design are critical to your website project. Think about what features and sections your website today should have, however also what you would like to do in the future. Your website should be built with room to grow down the road.
A napkin sketch is a great way to start with wireframing. Not sure where to start? Don't panic – We offer professional website architecture and wireframing services throughout the build. In fact, it is HIGHLY recommended that you consider getting assistance with this stage in the process, so as to apply common web principals to the flow of the information as well as think about an idea that maybe you wouldn't have thought of before.
A professional and well-done look and feel for the website can make all the difference with that first impression. Afterall first-impressions count! Your design and the feeling that people get when they first come to your website is a reaction that can make or break the next stages in them committing to explore deeper.
We can all do a thing or two with a computer, however, Graphic Designers (web designers) take years of schooling and have a special talent for creating web graphics so it's well worth investing in a good one. Before we dive into a website build, we spend time with you to fully understand you and your business. Only then do we put pen to paper and start producing the wireframes and visuals.
There are two types of code - Good Code and Bad Code. Bad, bloated code not only produces a broken and inaccessible website, it can also be detrimental to your Search Engine Ranking.
Once again, leave it to the experts. Coding is like trying to learn a new language. You can attempt to learn French and perhaps speak a word or two, however, try and put an essay together or throw you into France and see what the reaction is! The beauty of a well-coded website is that you will reap the benefits, not only from your customers but also from Google.
Google (and not to mention your customers) want to see new, relevant and fresh information on your website. A static site is only as good as a temporary and outdated brochure. A content management system (CMS) is key to taking your website to the next level and away from that online brochure and into a full-fledged marketing tool. We can advise you on which platform to use. We work with a variety of CMS systems, from the easy-to-use Wordpress CMS to the more complex eCommerce engines such as Magento and Nitrosell.
We can't say it strong enough about this – Content is very much King! Not only keeping your website up to date and fresh but also speaking to your proper target audience in a way that they'll understand as well as telling them the things that they want to hear. Remember, all that "fuzzy" content about who you are and how long you've been in business is only a small piece of what people want to hear about (if at all). Speak to how your business can help them. If you don't know where to start, don't worry, we have expert copywriters that can help you with the task at hand.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

A design brief is a written explanation - given to us - outlining the aims, objectives and milestones of a design project. Here are some of the most important factors to consider when writing your design brief, which you can use as a useful starting point for each brief:
Please tell us any background information that you think will help us.
For example, please tell us if you want to:
› Generate sales ie tickets/commercial/hospitality etc
› Encourage enquiries
› Gain new customers
› Obtain information from your customers
› Encourage them to tell a friend
If you know what you want to achieve, putting these ideas down on paper will help to clarify your thoughts. If your aims are a little less clear-cut, then start by brainstorming, or talk through your ideas with a colleague.
Please tell us who you are aiming your message at. Explain if you are looking to consolidate your existing customers or appeal to new customers. Detail information about your intended audience that may be useful to us - for example; age, sex, location etc.
You will need to consider your production budget. Timescale is also an important consideration - so please let us know if there is a specific deadline that has to
be met.
The brief should mention if and when copy and images will be supplied, and please make sure both the copy and images have been agreed before passing them to us.
Please write your copy in a way that will be understood by your audience. Whilst you should write in a clear, concise way you can use emotive language to emphasise exactly what you are trying to achieve.
The more clues you give us about your needs, the more likely we will be able to produce something to help you achieve your aims.

Describe your creative process.

First things first, we stick the kettle on and reach for the biscuits. Usually chocolate but we’re not fussy.
Once we’ve critiqued the hot beverage of choice we’ll sit down and have a chat about the football game from the night before, how annoying the M25 can be or what your favourite biscuit is. We’ll be working closely together for a while, so we want to get-to-know the people we’ll be dealing with.
Then we get down to business and concentrate on the project at hand. We ask questions about your business, the current state of the market, what your end goals are and the ideas you have to get there. We listen and digest what you want to say and to whom. As new ideas start to bounce around the room we form a visual journey to the finish line.
Once the biscuits are all gone, we get serious. This is the part when we bring the ideas and the research together into an awesome strategy.
We plan each stage of the project in detail, clarifying specifications, functionality and objectives. We’ll understand the desired outcomes and agree milestones so we can work out the investment you’ll need to make.
Enough of the planning and talking, now we get creative. We dust down the crayons and ride on unicorns down a rainbow slide of joy to where the magic begins! Ok, maybe that’s a bit too far. It’s actually the part when we use our knowledge, skill and creative juices to make something that’s functional, desirable and innovative. (Or you could just say - we make something that’s amazing!)
Over the years we have refined our design process to fully include our clients. We believe they should have input on every part of the project. Together we can create clever websites, logos, or magazines that are really, really special.
There’s no point having a great looking website if the content is, well let's just say - not up to scratch. Using the research we’ve carried out and the knowledge we have about your company, we’ll help you decide what content should be included and how it should be displayed. If you’re having problems creating content, we can help with that too.
We’re constantly looking at ways that we can help and improve our clients businesses so they can reach their long-term goals and ambitions. So when a project reaches the end of it’s journey, it won’t be the end of our wonderful relationship... let’s hug!
Because of the master plan and the milestones we set at the beginning of a project, we always meet deadlines, on-time and on-budget. However, sometimes things get forgotten (we’re all human) and clients may want to add something that wasn’t part of the original scope. We’re flexible, we’ll always do our very best to fit something in before the deadline.

Why should our clients choose you?

› No Jibba Jabba
We won’t speak design or business jargon and we don’t use abbreviations. If any do slip through, just slap our wrists!
› No Hidden Costs
We don’t hide costs, you won’t get an unexpected bill for an item that you didn’t know anything about.
› Time efficiency
As long as the client keeps their end of the bargain, we’ll always meet agreed timescales and deadlines, even if it means we have to bust a gut to do so.
› Communication
We will always keep you informed with how the project is progressing and be very clear with timescales and milestones. We will always endeavor to return calls, emails, or enquiries as quickly as possible.
› Bend & Flex
Our clients are busy, they have businesses to run, so we’re always flexible. If a client is late with feedback, we’ll be flexible and re-jig some things around to get the job done.
› No Egos
One of our pet hates is egos. We don’t stand for them, and you certainly won’t experience egos of any kind on your journey with us. Fact.
If you haven't noticed, we strongly believe in straight talking. We never use words like 'synergies' and 'blue sky thinking'. We’re here to solve your digital and design problems to achieve the best results in the most effective way possible. What technologies or tools we use shouldn't be a reason for you to hire us.
More than anything, we love creating stuff and solving problems for the people and companies that believe in us. Knowing that we've given total customer satisfaction and provided a solution, that works, is what makes us get out of bed in the morning with a big fat smile on our faces (after the first cup of tea that is).
Collaborative relationships throughout each project ensure that everyone feels they’ve had not only value for money but a really good experience. And yes, we get to have a really good time delivering the end results too.
We are fully aware that for clients to trust us they have to have confidence that we can take their very precious brand and develop it into something even more wonderful. We put a lot of time and effort into our client relationships because we find that this means they stay with us longer than your average agency. Happy clients mean we get more and more exciting and challenging projects to work on and that keeps us happy too!
We're very proud to say that we've worked with some amazing companies, large and small, who trust us with solving their design problems. We understand the pain businesses have when trying to get their ideas off the ground and how annoying it can be if your chosen agency isn't playing ball.
When you work with us, you'll talk directly to the designer, not a middle-man. Your voice will be heard and your ideas taken in - you'll be part of the design process. You won't suddenly discover hidden costs and sometimes we even do stuff for free...
We know full well that we have to try harder, we have to worry, we have to prove ourselves. We never take clients for granted and realise that we need you, just as much as you need us to do a remarkable job.
