Q&As

Understanding your client's needs and vision so that you not only take a great photograph, but you create a perfect image for your client's company. Photography is about helping people see and be delighted by a product or dish or restaurant that they're drawn to them.

What are the images for? Is there a certain campaign in mind? This will help give me a style and theme for the shoot
Where will the images be used? This will help determine how they're shot - the crop, the detail, the amount of copy space needed etc
When do you need the images for? This makes sure that not only do we complete the shoot on time, but that time is booked in in advance for retouch and edits.
What's your budget? Up front conversations about costs are crucial.
I also love to see the kinds of images you LOVE as well as the kinds of imagery you don't love so much - this helps gives me a feel for your brand and style.

I love texture – light that wraps around food to lift it off the plate and into your senses
I love plated creations – the dance of components that move together and compliment each other, the plate and the background
I love chefs – capturing their work, artistry, team creation and environment. I want chefs to see the beauty of their work.
I love narrative – stories of food from field to fork, from kitchen to table, from plate to palate
Oops - should I just have pick one? Sorry, don't think I can....

I was more inspired by working for lots of different chefs and the ability to create lots of different styles of food photography for different clients. I love that, so I needed to do it freelance.
Love it
