I've had trainers at small private gyms and at large ones like Equinox. No trainer matched Doug's knowledge, patience and motivation. I have worked with many trainers over the years (on both coasts).  And none are as professional and knowledgeable as Doug.  I tell him all the time he is underemployed as a physical trainer but he seems to love the work, and it shows.  He teaches me about nutrition, the latest fad diets (they don't work, I've tried them all) and injury prevention.  I highly recommend him as a trainer to anyone who is interested in getting results and learning a little bit more about their bodies. I've had personal trainers before (at Equinox and NYSC) and none of those experiences come close in terms of quality and results to what I've gotten from training with Doug Joachim. I hit a plateau in my routine and couldn't get my body to the next level. Was in decent shape but sort of flabby and killing myself on cardio machines but getting nowhere. Doug focused and balanced the workouts; lots of very innovative leg, abs, arms routines that targeted specific areas, usually 3-4 sets of 15-20 reps. Turns out I didn't need nearly as much cardio to reach my goals. Didn't have me do more than necessary, just the right things. He is also a very positive and engaging guy. I look forward to the workouts. He's an encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to all things regarding anatomy, diet, musculature, etc...In 3 months I've seen a tremendous difference. toned, tight butt (which was my original goal), not to mention amazing arms. I take a systematic approach including a detailed intake and screening. This helps me determine the best possible program suited for this specific client.

Besides having great genetics, diet is number one. Resistance training is a close second.

I like teaching people how to love the process of working out.

I use to work for Reebok Sports Club/NY and realized I could do a better job of training my clients without some of their corporate constraints.

I have 20 years experience working with a myriad of populations. I also have most national certifications, graduated top of my class receiving a BS in exercise science and in my spare time I train the trainers.
