JMJ Web Design Q&A
What makes a great website?
Every website has its purpose, and if your website isn't delivering on that purpose, then it's not a great website! Each website must be tailored towards its goal, whether that's lead generation, product sales, social engagement or brand awareness. I will make sure every website I work on will deliver on the brief.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
As a web developer, there's many questions I need answering before I can provide a quote. These include:
• Are you a startup business or looking for a redesign?
• Do you have any existing branding to work from?
• Do you have any existing photography or do we need to provide stock shots or arrange a professional photoshoot?
• Do you have any existing copy or do we need to provide copywriting services?
• What is the goal of your website?
• If you have an existing website, how is it currently performing?
• Do you wish to update the website yourself?
Plus many more! The more information I have, the easier it will be to provide an accurate quotation.
What do you love most about your job?
Building websites was a hobby of mine before I even left high school, so to be able to continue that hobby into a career that's going strong over 10 years later, I consider myself very lucky! I believe my passion for web design certainly reflects in my work.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It's a great feeling build a business from scratch and make a success of it. I'm proud to say my business is built on recommendations alone, it's great to know my customers are willing to recommend me to their friends and colleagues.
Why should our clients choose you?
I will always aim to deliver the most effective results for my clients without breaking the bank. On a personal level, I'm always on the end of the phone or email if my clients need anything, delivering the best customer service I can is a huge part of my business. If you need a reliable, trustworthy and professional web designer, please get in touch and I'll be happy to talk.
JMJ Web Design Services
As a web developer by trade, if you already have a website in place or have a design already in place, I am happy to take on work that requires just web development only. WordPress is my most popular base for development.
I can provide the complete service from website planning, to website design to website development. I can provide you with a design based on the brief that we agree at the outset of the project.
Unless your business relys solely on word of mouth, you're going to need to be competing with your competitors to rank on the first page of your most important keywords. I can provide link building services which target these keywords for increased performance and visibility in Google.
You only have a few seconds to get your message across, before your potential clients leave your website for a competitor's. I work with dedicated copywriters on many projects as part of a complete web project package to help your website maximise sales.
Trainee Graphic Designer
From September 2005 to August 2007.
I was taken on as a trainee graphic designer at the age of 16. It soon became apparent that I had a keen eye for web design and an interest in coding, and I began the path of learning web design and development from the ground up for 2 years.
From August 2007 to March 2012.
I was taken on as a Web Developer in March 2012 after the director at the time heard of my interest in working on bigger projects. I was the sole developer at O2 Creative, working for some really great clients and with some really great designers.
Freelance Web Developer
Freelance Web Developer
From March 2012 to September 2013.
After 4 and a half great years with O2 Creative, I decided it was right for me to start on my own as a freelance web developer. I picked up some really important contracts which are still with me today, and gave me the base I needed to form JMJ Web Design.
Epic website for Epic Studios
I was commissioned by Rob @ Creative Giant to complete the web development of the brand new website for EPIC Studios. Rob put a great design together and I was delighted to work with him and EPIC Studios. A custom WordPress theme was developed, customised every step of the way to ensure the admin was lightweight and focused solely on what the client needed. See the EPIC TV website: http://www.epic-tv.com/ If you’re a designer needing a reliable developer to collaborate with, it’d be great to talk!
Teokath goes WordPress
We were commissioned by Teokath of London to re-build their existing HTML website into a fully-manageable WordPress system, so their range of bridal dresses and accessories could be managed in-house. They now have complete control, allowing them to manage designers, dresses, accessories, and even promotional banners. All enquiries through the website are now recorded in the CMS as well as sending Teokath a notification email. As a result of the development, their on-going website maintenance costs have now been dramatically reduced. http://www.teokath.co.uk/
Re-brand launch for EWS
Launched at the start of the year, we were tasked with the rebranding and development of Earth Wood & Stone’s new website: http://www.earthwoodandstone.co.uk/ EWS sell an extensive range of quality wood and stone floors as well as carpet and stoves, and we had to make sure the website design matched the quality aspect of their business. A custom theme was developed for WordPress, with custom post types and fields throughout the admin to ensure all sections of the website were fully editable for in-house updates. This was a collaboration with Pete Baker, graphic designer. Here’s the result! If you like what we’ve done here and would like to discuss with us your new branding project, just give Jason a call on 01603 322290 and we can discuss further.
