How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
A zoning analysis must be performed to verify whether the proposed use you are planning for your loft is allowed.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
1-Zoning analysis to verify if the project is feasible.
2-Measure and draw plans of the existing conditions.
3-Redesign the loft based on the client's programatic requirements.
4-Prepare drawings to use for construction and building department filing.
5-Obtain approval from the building department and possibly other govenmental agencies if required.
6-Obtain construction bids.
7-Provide site visits to make sure that what is being built matches the approved plans.
What do you love most about your job?
I can be creative and interact with different people. I'm interested in the design process and the construction process. Therefore I'm always involve in allmy projects from inception to completion.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My work ethic and design sensibility made me want to run my own firm. I wanted to be able to guide my own destiny and only have to answer directly to clients.
