What makes a great website?
Clean, easy to follow and standards out from the crowd through creative design and illustration.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I am a professional illustrator and graphic designer so I work closely with my client via sketches to reach approval of work. My portfolio is extensive so the client has a clear understanding of how the final work will appear from these sketches. Usually, the final work goes through a stage of refinement. Once we reach final approval, I provide the vector file (.eps) and any other file formats they need. Usually, .jpg and web safe .gif files are needed for a successful marketing campaign.
Describe your creative process.
Look at the experience level of the actual designer/illustrator who will be working on your project. Larger firms will have a creative director as the front person but an inexperience designer will be the actual person working on your project. In the end, this is important if you have a tight deadline and the work being presented is sub-par but you have run out of time and have to go with what you get.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
Be clear on the goals for the project. Also, review the illustrator's portfolio to make sure their work is a good fit for what you have in mind.
What do you love most about your job?
Best to describe a recent client to convey my love of my work. The New Jersey Crossroads of the American Revolution hired me for design and illustration. We have worked together now for the past couple of years developing playing cards that promote New Jersey citizens who were involved in the American Revolution.
