Jay's videos have been invaluable in my recovery as the scapegoat. He is very knowledgeable about the NPD personality and explains all of the issues in a way that helps me understand at a core level what is going on.

Insightful and practical information that can only come from experience and true compassion.

I met Jay when I interviewed him for an Internship at Well Clinic in 2015. He was very impressive, with a command of theory and a confidence in his work that was clearly advanced for his level of experience. We hired him, and I have seen his work grow since. He's thoughtful, steady, and very smart. Give him a call. More...

Q&As

I should confess to being a psychotherapy ‘geek’. I love this profession. Sometimes people will ask me if I get tired of listening to people’s problems all day and I am always surprised by this question. I consider it a great privilege to learn the stories of people who come to my office and to be able to helpfully connect with what they are going through. I am usually reading several psychology books or academic journal articles at any given time and have a laundry list of therapy-related projects or activities that I am pursuing. I feel so lucky to be able to spend my time talking with colleagues, conducting research, and thinking deeply about the best way to help others relieve their psychological pain.

Psychotherapy has always seemed like important and fascinating work to me. Even as an adolescent, I thought it was pretty cool that therapists helped people by understanding and connecting to them. I followed this passion through undergraduate studies and straight into graduate school for clinical psychology. In the years since, I have added to this academic training with life experience that informs my work as a therapist in equal measure.

I provide a safe and understanding therapeutic setting where you get to fully be yourself - whatever that looks like for you. I am trained in a type of depth-oriented psychotherapy that tries to understand your conscious and unconscious goals for therapy and do whatever it takes to help you reach them. The result is that my clients usually feel like they are now free to do and be the things they've always wanted to do or be. In addition, therapy feels like being added-to rather than having someone play "gotcha". Lastly, I make use of my training in data science to use electronic measurement of your progress to make sure we are on the right track and making the progress you deserve.
