Love Jarret, Khristina and team! They were wonderful to work with. So creative, hip, professional and completely knowledgeable about all aspects of the business. They have impeccable taste. They turned a drab little space into something quite fabulous! This was our first apartment reno, so naturally we had many concerns/requests. They were so responsive to all of our needs throughout. With us every step of the way and with a ton of patience too I might add. Jarret and team turned what could have been a very stressful undertaking into something that turned out to actually be fun! They are so good at what they do. Highly recommend! More...

Jarret handled a bathroom renovation for us a few years ago, and everyone on his team was top-notch, across the board. His contractors worked efficiently, and he always sourced supplies and materials with a firm eye on the budget. We didn't spend more than we had to, and we got a gorgeous bathroom out of it. We loved his work so much that when it became time to redo our kitchen, Jarret came up with ideas that miraculously found more space in our kitchen and dining room, and brought more light into our entire first floor. We're still in process with that second reservation, and have no doubt that he'll get stunning results, just as he did with our last renovation! More...

With so many designers to choose from, we are so glad we worked with Jarret and his team to renovate our home.

We had seen Jarret's work on houzz, but ended up choosing a lower cost firm that had an extensive internet advertising presence. Well, we got what we paid for. We realized months later that their staff were far too junior to actually execute their admittedly great ideas.

After bidding them farewell, my husband and I ended up choosing Jarret who we saw had won Best of Houzz several times.

We quickly found out why since he was quick to analyze the situation and his enthusiasm and can-do attitude won us over. He adapted what had already been completed and built on and enhanced what we had. We were a little tight on money at this point, but he still gave us a home we finally were proud to show our friends and family. We really loved how he managed to figure out a style that make both of us happy.

We couldn't have been more satisfied. We're now in the middle of planning a renovation of our kitchen and bathroom with him and can't wait to see what we end up with. My husband is actually a real estate agent and has forward his name on to clients who are already reporting satisfied results.

I received a recommendation from a mutual friend and utilized the services of Jarret Yoshida designs and he didn't disappoint. Although his office is in New York and I live on Oahu, the distance wasn't a factor because he has staff here and also comes here for other clients. The result was a look that felt sophisticated and contemporary, but still rooted in a Hawaiian aesthetic because Jarret was born here unlike a lot of other mainland designers we considered. I am extremely pleased with the renovation of my condo. His customer service and attentiveness was on point and I loved working with him and his staff. He and his staff listened to my concerns and stayed within my budget and produced a beautiful design for my condo.

I would recommend Jarret Yoshida to anyone seeking a remodel or renovation of their house or condo. Jarret and his team are very accommodating and willing to incorporate your ideas and preferences with his talent. I've lived in my condo for over twenty years and he was able to redesign it with modern touches while it still felt like home.

Jarret was highly recommended to me by a close friend. Since I had never worked with an interior designer before, I was a little nervous especially since Jarret and I live in different cities. Jarret reassured me that distance wouldn’t be a problem since he has experience working with clients in other cities and countries.

Jarret brought such clarity on how to best use furniture to maximize the functionality and space in my house. The layout of my house is a bit tricky since there is no defined area for the dining room, living room, family room, and office/den. After I sent Jarret and his team the dimensions and pictures of the interior, I received the detailed floor plan indicating where pieces of furniture should be placed. Jarret was able to divide each space into its own specific function in way that flows very simply and elegantly from area to area.

For me, shopping is painful and excruciating. The thought of choosing and buying furniture was overwhelming and immobilizing. I’m so thankful that Jarret and his team were there to help. When it came to choosing furniture, Jarret and I discussed what I like and dislike. He understood immediately my style and chose amazing pieces. I like that Jarret showed me some items that pushed me out of my comfort zone. I tend to make “safe” choices, but I felt confident that Jarret understood my tastes and chose some of the “edgier” pieces. I’m so glad that I took the “risk” because those are the pieces that I love!

I am very thankful to Jarret and his team for helping me furnish my house. Jarret was easy to work with, available to answer my questions, and often made me laugh with his sense of humor. If I had to do it by myself.....thankfully, that's something I don't have to think about. If you’re debating whether or not to hire Jarret, just pick up the phone and call him. You won’t regret it when you’re sitting in your beautifully decorated home.

My wife and I bought a house in Kahala. We loved the wide-open floor plan but found it impossible to arrange our existing furniture in this new home. With growing kids, we also needed new bedroom furniture as they outgrew their Ninja Turtles and Hello Kitty. (Does anyone really get too big for them?) In our new home, we wanted new pieces that was not readily available in Honolulu.

At this point, a friend of ours referred us to Jarret. While we knew he
was local, originally, we had some concerns about the distance between him in Brooklyn and us in Hawaii. After speaking with him, we were assured that he could make it work. We saw homes that he had decorated and learned that he had a track record here on the island.

We decided that we wanted the mix of local/Japanese aesthetic and New York chic.

It was a great experience for us. We had samples and drawings sent to us directly, and conference calls with the office. Everything that you
would have with a local designer, we had with Jarret and his office. We
also had Jarret’s partner, Dan, doing site visits; and Jarret also, when
he visited the island.

Some items were made for us here, some shipped from the mainland.
Everything came together beautifully. We truly could not be happier. And by the way, my daughter still has Hello Kitty in her room.

Aloha and mahalo to Jarret and staff. Thank you for making the house our home.

I looked through so many designers here. I tried to find a designer that I felt I could get along with and listen to and make me feel as if I could make solid and reliable decisions. There are so many things to think about and be concerned with. I spoke with three and decided to use Jarret and his crew.

I wanted a mix of comfort and chic design. Someone who could help me have more than what I was simply finding in the stores here. Jarret and crew gave me options to choose from at different price points and guided me through the entire process of furnishing, designing and completing my condo.

Did everything go perfectly? No, nothing ever does. Stores always seem to have problems, I learned. However, if a problem arose they were on it immediately. Problems are not an issue if there is a resolution and his team stood behind everything.

As a restaurateur, I found myself looking for a designer who could complete the vision that I wanted to provide for my dining guests. Located in Midtown Manhattan, it was a hustle and bustle of a location and I wanted something that could stand out from amongst the surrounding eateries.

I did some research on Houzz on various different designer’s ideas, thoughts and plans ~ but when I came across Jarret’s website I really enjoyed the visions that he had shared and I took a liking to his design taste and aesthetic.

He didn’t have much commercial or hospitality experience, but either way because of his taste level I really wanted to try something different for my space.

I went ahead and acquired him to create something unique and inspiring that would make my guests want to stay and continue to keep coming back.

I was very happy with the end result as Jarret is multi-faceted and can handle both residential and hospitality as that was my main concern in the beginning. He proved me wrong and took the extra mile to show me that he could accomplish exactly what I was aiming for.

I am grateful that I decided to go with Jarret Yoshida and team ~ I would definitely recommend using him again in any future prospects / business or personal / and also gained a great friendship as well ~ thank you so much Jarret!

At this point in my life, I wanted two things for my apartment; a space that would be more beautiful than I could ever imagine on my own while at the same time making me feel completely at home. I also knew I wanted someone to design the space for me. If I’m willing to spend money on a car or my clothes, then why wouldn’t I spend money on the home I actually live in?

This is when Jarret and his folks stepped in and did such an amazing job. In our first meeting, we spoke about the initial concept, what I expected and wanted and how we would get there. After everything was all said and done, I truly could not have been happier. My home is now even more of what I envisioned it could be because of the vision of Jarret, his firm, and his general contractors.

What I also truly love is how they spoke to how I will live in the space now, but also how my space can be used. Jarret even discussed my apartment’s resale value later on down the road with us and how our decision needs to look good both now and years later. Now no process like this is stress-free, however, I have to say that they made it as free of stress as possible, and were always conscious of budget and time.

My apartment is a fair sized space for the city, however utilizing and maximizing the square footage I have was key to the process. As we explored what I expected and wanted during the initial stages of our meetings, Jarret pointed out that, after review by an architect, we could actually gain well needed square footage in my kitchen and master bedroom by reconfiguring the entry and opening a wall into the dining room.

Not only did more light flood into the space, I now have a much larger kitchen with an open view into the dining room. Ideas like this were key to having a space that worked better for how I lived. I love cooking and entertaining, so this truly made me happy. I also now have a larger closet in my bedroom and a better flow in my bedroom itself, with a view through the window that I always wanted.

The choice of colors for paint, wallpaper in the entry, fabrics and the mix of custom and readymade furniture is amazing. Plus his office always showed me a variety of choices and price ranges.

I had some of my own art, and it was bolstered with art that was found at spots here and there, including student art shows. I love this because not only is it affordable, but I am helping to support young artists.

All in all, I really cannot say enough about my experience with Jarret, Khristina, Michelle, Joe, and Chris. They stood behind their work, always. I always felt as if my interests were cared for. The final product? It far surpasses what I even possibly envisioned. Small project, large project, these folks are truly thoughtful both in personality and aesthetic.

We looked at so many interior designers on Houzz and I confess that we probably looked at the first 60 or so, culling out the ones we thought were not a match, but still ending up with over 10 we thought might work.

But, we had so many questions about price points, experience, aesthetic compatibility, personality. My list could go on. Interestingly, my husband and I actually independently came up with our top three list and we both actually had Jarret on our list.

Inevitably, or so it seems now, we had a great initial consultation meeting. Jarret came over and listened to our fears and concerns about what we were hoping to do. I think we may have overwhelmed him at first with everything we wanted to do.

Moreover, we had some furniture and some art we wanted to keep that was sentimental. I’m not particularly fond of them, but Jarret was enthusiastic about being able to keep them and make them work.

The really challenging part is that our apartment has a great deal of floor to ceiling windows. We couldn’t figure out where to put our television.

Within one week, Jarret showed us a terrific presentation with a furniture plan and floor plan. While at first we weren’t able to really feel comfortable, he ‘held our hand’, if you will. His enthusiasm and knowledge were terrific. He even made our grandfather’s furniture work!

We appreciate that this process for him was not just about having something ‘pretty’, but also would ‘stand the test of time’ as he often said. We had no idea that some of his work on his houzz portfolio was almost 15 years old!

The interior design process as a whole can create a lot of anxiety, but we are so happy to have worked with Jarret and made a new friend.

I recently ordered the design of the apartment in Jarret Yoshida Inc. The personal approach to the client, responsiveness and the answering of my questions in deep details were the qualities of Jarret and his team that attracted me the most. The design project took a little time, and my own suggestions were considered (Jarret, thank you for the patience). It’s very fair that Jarret realizes the financial possibilities of the client and explains what can be executed in practice. Because you know, on paper you can, of course, make it look expensive, but it can stay a beautiful picture. Here the designer not only learned that I could actually afford but coordinated the work with own team of construction workers. Along the way various price options of materials, hardware and furniture were offered, so another plus is the reasonable cost of the project. Of course, much depends on the footage and the overall wear and tear of the building. Mine is a little bit more than 1000 sq ft. in the old coop. Jarret was able not only reorganize the space making the apartment more suitable for the new family member (hello baby!), but renovate the interior so it looks like a posh new condo now. More...

He helped us move to a new 2 bedroom apartment, i had so much furniture and he helped me curate what was valuable to us and what what could be downsized. We went from a 2 floor home to a very lovely 2 bed 2 1/2 bath apartment. He helped me curate, decorating, place, and assist with furniture selection. The best part was that he was very aware of the both my budget and my emotional needs at the time. It was a very emotional transition for us. And then in 2012, we bought a very small apartment that we are in now, and again we had to downsize. Given his talents he was able to create a very beautiful home for us. I began custom framing artwork for Jarret in 2007 when I was a consultant for a large company in Manhattan. In 2008 I became the Director of Axelle Frames in Brooklyn and I was thrilled that Jarret wanted to continue our business relationship together. Custom framing is a multifaceted realm in itself, yet is only one aspect being a designer. Jarret is well versed in framing substrates and jargon and is continually learning current framing trends. As a client, Jarret has helped me grow as a framer. His unique vision and design sense challenges my shop to come up with outside of the box custom framing solutions, which is a refreshing departure from a typical frame job. In the early years it would have been easy for me to say "no we don't do it that way," or "no that is not possible." I quickly learned to trust Jarret's aesthetics and vision. Trust is an important aspect in any business, over the years Jarret and I have developed the kind of working relationship in which we are so in sync that often we can do simpler design remotely. This is efficient but it is a shame because my staff really enjoys Jarret's visits, his energy and smile really do brighten up the spirits of a production facility that is below street level. With inflexible construction deadlines and an increasing list of needs, Jarret pushed through nights and weekends to keep our project moving. What I appreciated is that he created something, just for us, that did not feel like he just copied the Design Within Reach catalog or a page from Dwell. We love those inspiratioa, but wanted something that would be more unique and definitely embody some of our visual flair.

Jarret was very clear about pricing and being very focused on value. We have referred him to other friends and have seen his work in more than one style and cant say enough about his friendly attitude.

Jarret Yoshida Inc's style is contemporary, clean and sophisticated. The firm worked with my friend to design the inside of a wonderful vacation home in Aruba. What's wonderful about the company is its ability to be extremely relevant to each individual client's needs and abilities. More...

I would highly recommend Jarret to anyone looking for an Interior Designer. I've worked with several Interior Designers over the past 5 yrs in NYC and I never really felt satisfied with the end result. They seemed to just want to tell me what I wanted rather than listen to my needs/tastes.... and I felt like my budget was disregarded and I'd end up spending more and getting a lot less.

Jarret was completely the opposite...He was very cognizant of my budget and really listened to my likes and dislikes and expanded on them to create a phased plan approach that met my needs and really complimented the space.

I have an 1100 sq ft waterfront condo in Williamsburg Brooklyn with an amazing view of the NYC skyline and he was able to create a contemporary minimalistic plan that didn’t compete with that view but actually accentuated it.

He definitely deserves the 5 stars!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Jarret for a renovation project of mine.

I had an idea of what I wanted, but certainly welcomed his expert advice! Jarret works with such clarity and focus, and relays those ideas perfectly. He sincerely cared about my vision and with (what seemed like) utter ease, he brought it to fruition.

He has a great relationship with all of his workrooms, which enables him to have total control of every aspect of the project, down to the wire. He knows how to get things done in a professional and timely manner.

I would highly recommend him to anyone for any size project, and I will certainly be calling him again!

I loved working with Jarret and his team.

I was referred to him by another friend of mine, who had in turn been referred to him by their friends.

He worked with our existing furniture that was worth saving or had huge sentimental value, reupholstering it in beautiful colors and patterns that we would never have thought of using on our own. Thankfully, his tradespeople were able to make it look like ENTIRELY different pieces so they no longer felt like the burdens they once were.

Meanwhile, the new furniture plan he created for us managed to make a space we used to actually avoid into a warm and inviting space. Our guests that knew the room before hand can’t get over the difference between the before and after.

The combination between new and old is beyond further description. Could not recommend him more highly.

Budget: 75,000

I had the pleasure of using Jarrets services twice this year, once when we moved into a new apartment and did a complete overhaul and once when I wanted to change our living room to a lovely mid-century theme.

Jarret was very professional and friendly, he had a lovely assistant that showed up right on time, took proper measurements and began recommending ideas that hadn't occurred to me. She was outgoing and loved the work, Jarret was on top of every decision and focused on simply getting the job done.

I would recommend Jarret to anyone, no matter the budget range. He is simply the best!
