Jana Rosenblatt is one of my favorite people in Los Angeles! Always upbeat, yet professional, she is just a delight to be around! I have hired Jana to design some extensions on my bungalows, and I have also worked for Jana as her photographer shooting her new interior design creations. As a designer Jana has the ability to discover your needs and design a solution that is better than you ever could have conceived yourself. She is intelligent, articulate and always gracious to others. When I shoot her finished interior designs she is right there 'on set' making sure the space is picture perfect, and I always know it is going to be a wonderful experience. I love her color choices, her fabric choices and the way she can take a treasure that you already own and recreate an entire room around it that feels 'just right.' The amazing thing about Jana and her team is that she's brilliant, intuitive, flexible, and brings so much experience to the table that she anticipates challenges I wasn't even aware of, has smart, cost-effective solutions for them, and truly has made the home of my dreams a reality.

The home is a Spanish-style 1930 duplex, with great built-ins and shapes, and I absolutely wanted it look period but be fully functional. Once I bought the place, it needed a complete demo to the studs of both the kitchen and bathroom, and general refurbishment of the entirety of the duplex.

The design of the kitchen, for instance, took advantage of every inch of a relatively small space. Custom cabinets were designed once I had bought my appliances. Widened doorways between the breakfast nook and the laundry room made everything feel more spacious and airy. Recreation of built-in details that existed in the breakfast nook were replicated in the kitchen to make it all look original. It's gorgeous.

The bathroom may be the most exquisite 30s-style bathroom I have ever seen. We rearranged bathroom plumbing to make it roomier, made the custom counter taller, installed a new tub, and while the tiny shower was no longer going to be needed, I fell in love the curved tile frame of the shower doorway, so Jana repurposed the curve and made it into the most lovely tile inset glass shelving. We added a 30s-style wall heater, and repurposed the old shower space as a new hallway closet. The tile colors and pattern on the tub, walls, and on the floor, is simply breathtaking.

The rest of the job was about refurbishing the hardwood floors, windows, general artful repainting with my passions being consulted at every step, and then Jana's innovations offering more than I could have ever dreamed, as well as widening closets to make them more usable, anticipating where light switches would need to be, etc. etc. etc.

One more note. This huge project, as it happens, all started the week after my mother died. I was practically unconscious during the project, and Jana handled everything on time, on budget, and, with the very limited amount of brainspace I had available to give to her, she knew when to defer and when to take over a decision because I was distracted. I walk in to my home daily, and it feels like a hug. I’m so grateful.

Jana Design Interiors took our humble little ski-country townhouse and turned it into a magnificent home! Jana was amazingly creative finding ways to reconfigure our space as she turned our galley kitchen into a beautiful, full working kitchen. She also found miraculous ways to expand our entryway (ski boots and clothing take up lots of room!) so there is now more than enough closet/storage space for everything. And she moved walls to allow us to turn our dining room table to make lots of room for hanging out with friends. Jana Designs assisted us in the planning and execution of our complete home renovation and the addition of a front entrance foyer.
Jana helped us to identify our taste and preferences in the colors and materials we chose. Her tile design was unique and fanciful for several locations in our home. Her interface with trades people was professional, patient and courteous. In addition Jana assisted us in room design and in purchasing many of the furnishings...a favorite memory was the day we started at a furniture store at 10:00 in the morning and didn't leave until our entire living room was planned and ordered at 8:00 in the evening! Jana Design is wonderful! I just moved from Philadelphia to California from a small traditional house to a large contemporary house. My new house had lots of design challenges for how to create "spaces" within a very open floor plan. Jana helped me supplement my old furniture with new furniture so everything blended well. We also picked out furniture fabric, paint colors, rugs, art frames, and home accents that all complemented each other. Finally, Jana helped me pick out stone and cabinetry to renovate my bathrooms, and worked with vendors to get me great deals and savings. The transformation of my house was amazing!

I had to sell this house to move back east about 6 months after I just finished decorating. I sold the house within a month and got a selling price that was over 20% higher than we bought it for only 1 year earlier, I think largely attributable to the decorative appeal of the home created by Jana Designs.

Jana is great, and has a wonderful sense of style ... fabrics, colors, furniture, floor plan, everything end to end! More...

Jana is not only an expert designer, but is a pleasure to work with. She keeps the budget in mind, is extremely creative, directs the crew with a firm hand but a sense of humor, and always keeps the project engaging and fun.

Jana helped us remodel our kitchen. She was very conscientious of our budget, work hours and time constraints. She was totally open to us doing whatever leg work we wanted in order to save a $ here or there. We weren't in love with the contractor - he was very nice and generally competent but just a bit slow for our tastes. Otherwise, all of her subs were good especially the electrician, cabinet maker and tile and marble installer. Jana replied quickly when we had a question or concern. My husband and I both work long hours so while we normally like to do it all ourselves - in my opinion, it was well worth every penny to have Jana source and use her subs and especially be on the job when we could not. We had a nice European vacation knowing she was there to look in on things while we were away (even the dog) and keep the job moving along! We trusted her implicitly in our home. I would recommend Jana Design Interiors to anyone who wishes they had another set of eyes and an honest straight forward partner when doing any design project. More...
