About

Hi, my name is Jamil Matheny. I specialize in concert, event, fashion, and portrait photography. Jamil Images, LLC. was founded on June 1, 2018. However, I started shooting pictures with my Pentax K-1000 35mm film camera. I learned how to develop film in the darkroom. I knew from that point on, I wanted to become a photographer. I’ve traveled across the United States and among other places outside of the U.S. to develop a photojournalist approach to my work.

Photography isn’t about ‘taking pictures’. It’s about capturing special moments in life as time allows. I believe that time is the most valuable, precious thing that belongs to any individual. It’s all about how you utilize your time; it’s what matters. After all, photography is the study of light and time. In recent years, I have continued to study photography as a hobby and then founded Jamil Images. I want to capture the best of humankind's existence, mentor others who are coming up and create an awesome, artistic portfolio to showcase my work.

Currently, I shoot with Nikon cameras. However, I’m not the bias type of using any other brands; it's just my personal preference. Also, I edit and retouch my own photos at this time.
