We hired James for a photo session of extended family coming together for a Cornish Holiday.James beautifully captured our family moments, both in animated and still shots and had a wonderful balance of natural, reportage style photos alongside more organised group ones. He was incredibly accommodating given the many personalities, as well as two energetic dogs! When the wind picked up on the beach, he offered to come to our house and take even more photos in a different environment. James Back from Honeymoon and the events of the last two weeks all feel like a dream…Back to reality now! Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you – you’re simply the best! You made the wedding and (even though I don’t want to see myself in any of the photos!!!) I can’t wait to see the photos! Guests were saying how great you were – everyone thought you were brilliant. James is a regular and very welcome visitor to Tresco, where his commercial photography skills have contributed a great deal to our marketing presence. JAmes has a flexible and personable approach to photography, taking the time to fully understand and connect with his subjects, ultimately producing a fantastic standard of imagery which helps us to stand apart. James regularly undertakes bespoke photoshoots for the Tresco website, Tresco Times yearbook and other print and digital projects and his imagery and friendly approach never fails to impress. I cannot recommend James Darling Photography more highly. We have used him twice, once to take Wedding Photographs, nearly 10 years ago, in Berkshire and then more recently, this year, for a Family Photography shoot in Cornwall. On both occasions he was fantastic to work with. He has a very flexible approach, communicates well before and after the events, is very reasonably priced and the results are outstanding! At our wedding he blended into the background capturing all the emotions and stages of the day with ease and total professionalism. Our guests kept asking "who is the charming photographer?"At the family photography shoot there were 3 generations of us, ranging from 65 years old to 7months old. He made it fun for all of us and the children just loved the games he got them to play and the things he asked them to do in order to capture the amazing shots that he did. The pictures we have show laughter, tears, silliness and seriousness! The only downside is that I don't have enough wall space ton which to hang them!! We will definitely use him again! More...

We recently used James Darling Photography for a commercial photo shoot to provide distinct imagery instead of the usual stock fare. This was a crucial element in elevating our new pan-European web presence to a market leading position, as well as providing us with a wealth of imagery for ongoing marketing requirements.James significantly over-delivered against the brief; we were unlucky enough to have a very poor day weather-wise for the shoot (in mid-August, in Devon!), but James certainly has the skill and professionalism to create a silk purse from a sow's ear. It is refreshing to work with such a dedicated professional who clearly takes great pride in his work, but most importantly has the ability to get great shots - something that I'm sure is a gift and impossible to teach. Choosing a wedding photographer can be a real challenge. When you first meet James you will realise that he provides wedding photography that is on a different level to his competitors. His calm, professional and extremely personable nature makes him the ideal addition to any wedding day - charming all the family and guests. A photographer is present at some very personal moments during your special day and James fitted in so perfectly, it felt like we'd known him all our lives!The photos speak for themselves. Beautifully natural 'reportage' style photography - even capturing granny on the dance-floor! All of the more formal group photos were also excellent and so efficiently organised - James' military precision really shone through.
