We were there for a rehearsal dinner. The view on the upper deck is absolutely gorgeous. The food was amazingly good for a large party and the service was top shelf.

Lovely ambience with outdoor deck as their main dining area. Unfortunately we got there before 5:00, and were limited to mediocre bar food. 4* rating is generous, they were celebrating 40th anniversary with 1977 pricing, so a very limited menu. More...

Great adventure.
Burgers awesome.
But the best is cheesecake.
You must have cheesecake.

Jake's is a really great place to enjoy being on Lake Tahoe. Obviously sitting out on the patio in the summer some of the best views of Lake Tahoe super fun to sit out there and have lunch with people you like you can probably enjoy it with people you don't like it's that nice. It is a really awesome place to have a birthday party you basically can just take over the entire upstairs and I'll just cater it for you which is super fun because they're catering team is unbelievable.
They have a really awesome Halloween party where everybody dresses up I've enjoyed that over the years they have really great bar downstairs. They have like Cafe style menu so if you're not looking to get a big old dinner you can eat something a little bit lighter.
My favorite experience has always been dinner they have really top-notch service, they have really great entrees and very interesting specials. My favorite experience was one Christmas Eve where my family and I ate way too much including a Big Slice of hula pie and which I think we ate in about 2 minutes. I will always go to Jake's when I want to impress people with where I live, it is just the quintessential Lake Tahoe dining experience.

Old school family restaurant. Nice inside and out. Prices are consistent with Tahoe lakeside, which is to say, a little high for what you get, but consistent with what you can be expect in the region. Among the best choices for a quiet sit down dinner in the area. More...

First time back since they reopened
Great service, food delish
Good happy hour prices with substantial food

Turn the mic volume way down on the band. They were great but had to scream to talk to each other as diners... More...

One of the best meals out I can remember. Upscale food and service, not price.

Positioned right on the lake, you'll find Jake's atmosphere cozy and welcoming. The great views are matched by the amazing entree's prepared by a clearly well trained kitchen staff.
The appetizers, soups, entrees and desserts all exceeded our expectations.
If visiting the North Lake Tahoe area, be sure to consider Jake's On The Lake for a great evening out!

Beautiful spot on the lake. Came for an early appetizer and sat right by the window which I highly recommend. Sunset views are spectacular while sitting and enjoying a wine, beer, cider or cocktail. I bet in the summer this is a bustling place with the doc and boats right outside. Food looks great. Staff is pleasant and friendly. More...

Great happy hour experience. Went to Jake's after a day of skiing at Squaw and came with an empty stomach. Started off with the poke appetizer, which came out lightening fast and was delicious. It was spicier than we anticipated, but not too spicy. Followed up with truffle fries, which were cooked to perfection. For our main courses we ordered the lobster pot pie and the Z steak bites. The lobster pot pie was amazing, plenty of lobster meat and topped with a puff pastry it was honestly the best seafood pot pie I've ever had. The Z steak bites were delicious too. The steak bites were delivered hot, but got cold quickly, which was expected. My beautiful fiancee ordered a drink, the cabin fever, which was similar to the hibiscus hot totties she loves to order at Plumpack at Squaw.

Overall the service was good. We sat in the open bar seating and during happy hour and there was only one server for 6+ tables so sometimes we had to wait to get drinks refilled, but the guy was doing a good job taking care of all his customers and didn't screw anything up, plus he had a sweet mustache. The ambiance at Jake's is great. Despite being around Tahoe for decades it is very clean and smells like cedar. Overall, we were very happy with our dinner and will definitely come back the next time we return to Tahoe.
