Jackfruit Cafe

There are 3 fundamental reasons why I recommend Jackfruit Cafe to everyone vegan or not. First: the food! I mean seriously, this is some of the best eats I've ever had. I can't rave enough of the culinary magic weaved in the kitchen by hands of pure genius. Second: Heart!!! Angela and her team pour passion, heart, and soul into each bite of the deliciousness they serve up. It is true soul food that comes from the most beautiful part of their souls. Third: Innovation...This takes 2 forms. The use of flavor to elevate jackfruit beyond a mere replacement for meat and creating a key ingredient is nothing less than a miracle. Also, operating in a smart kitchen like The Colony creates a new vision for the future of fast casual dining in America. without a doubt this is truly my absolute favorite experience and look forward to the growth of this amazing culinary adventure. my only complaint is there isn't one in Pasadena. The truck was in DTLA's Grand Park today and I gave it a try. I ordered the Sloppy Jack Sandwich. It had a nice acidic tasting BBQ sauce tamed by creamy guacamole and fresh toasted bun. I really enjoyed the slice of fried plantain on top. They put out many bottles of assorted hot sauces for spicing things up. The staff provides friendly and fast service. Thumbs up for Jackfruit Cafe! I ordered the Sloppy Jack and it was delicious. They were out of the brioche bun (which I was happy about) and served it with ciabatta instead. It hit all kinds of sensors on my palate and left me satisfied and wanting more all at the same time. The best part about it is that it satisfied a junk food craving, but without that heavy feeling afterward that's sometimes accompanied by a mucousy cough. I left off 1 star because I feel like there's a thoughtfulness to bringing something healthy and delicious, but the selections outside of the prepared food are lacking. I mean I just wanted to see something other than lay's chips and doritos. So I passed on the chips... and really I didn't need them anyway. Drink selection as well... give us some healthier choices: craft sodas, juices, kombucha, etc. Also, it was a bit expensive for what you get (more plantains, please!)... but I'd pay for it again. I was finally able to catch up to the Jackfruit Cafe food truck, and let me tell you, the food is so damn good! I ordered the jackfruit tacos, which had a mild hint of a tropical flavor combined with the right amount of heat from the spices, and crunch from the crispy tacos. I also ordered the barbecue cauliflower wings, which also comes in buffalo flavor. Each cauliflower was almost as big as the palm of my hand; filling and flavorful. The guy who took my order was so nice and truly a pleasant delight to chat with; full of positive vibes. The menu had a nice selection of items to chose from including a Jackfruit burger, and Jackfruit nachos, along with a soul bowl. I do wish they would bring back the Jackfruit flautas, those were BOMB! Just the same, there  is something for everyone, even if you're not plant based, you'll love the food and you won't care that it's vegan. Hoping I'll be able to catch the Jackfruit truck often. Wish I could've like this food truck more. Bought a burrito and cauliflower wings. My main gripe is that the food took a half hour. Also, I thought the cauliflower was BBQ and ended up being buffalo. The burrito was dry and could've been seasoned a lot better. The staff was friendly and offered a free drink for the long wait. The cauliflower was really large as well.I'm happy there is a vegan option down Crenshaw and the branding is great. Love & Health Angela is an awesome lady. The food? I had the Ultimate Burger was great. I need to return soon. I’m new to this type of eating. I’m part time I guess? The food was amazing! The Soul in a Bowl comes with 3 different choices. We had the jerk, Korean and bbq portions which made our mouth's water. Mrs. Angela was very kind and took several pictures with us. I recommend this restaurant to anyone, vegan or not. Would definitely go there again. More...

This place was so amazing in so many levels!

The food:absolutely amazing! Delicious! I had the jackfruit tacos and man!! !! I’m telling you! They were mad good!!!!! �� the barbecue had the perfect amount of kick that made you come back for more bites!
I also had the chili beans and they were so flavorful and rich!

Staff: Angela is one of the kindest souls you will EVER meet! Just full of light, full of positive energy to share, and full of love to give!
I asked for a hug and her hug was so so healing! I feel I left with more than just a satisfying stomach! I left with a warm filled heart!

I ordered the soul food bowl with bbq Jackfruit for myself and got my son the jackfruit burrito. We both really enjoyed our meal.
The Mac & cheese I’d have preferred more seasoned but it was still enjoyable. The yams & bbq Jackfruit were slamming! But the portions were small where as I feel there was way too much Mac & cheese. The greens aren’t bad but they won’t have you looking for an extra scoop either. My son totally demolished his burrito and said he’d definitely order again. Usually located on Crenshaw Blvd. between 29th and 30th streets, you can catch Angela and her staff whippin up delicious vegan food! Stumbled across this beauty at the L.A. Taco Festival  @ Grand Park supporting homeless youth. There is a variety of items here. Yes, in an ideal world you want to order each item on the menu and have a feast fit for the Gods! But I had to brace myself! The employees were very friendly. I was able to sample the different Jackfruit selections. Its amazing how it tasted just like meat. It was properly chewy and full of flavor. Other notable items on the menu was the Flautas and The Chicken and Waffles.I got a chance to meet Angela and I really like her spirit and good vibes. I know she gets everyone rushing her for pictures and selfies. So I'm so glad she took a picture with me.
