I am not one to normally write on these but feel it’s important for anyone out there considering J&A drives.

To start off with I should say that to my knowledge the drives looks fine (see pic) and I have no reason to suspect the quality of work is off although I have no idea how to check this.

However, the process of having my drive paved was possibly the most stressful experience I’ve ever had as a customer and I would not recommend using J&A Drives. Firstly, despite regular communications with them before starting they would not let me choose a design until they had dug up my driveway and made it unusable. In doing this they dug through my Wi-Fi cable (which was very visible where it connected) on a Thursday afternoon and so I then had no Wi-Fi for the whole weekend until I could get it repaired. They initially refused to accept responsibility for this saying it was not dug deep enough and never apologised.

What followed was 2 weeks of them telling me they would come each day to finish the job, countless false promises saying they would come and eventually refusing to respond to my emails. During this time my drive was unusable and I even got a parking ticket for parking on the street outside my house. They also added on nearly £500 to the original asking price for ‘extras’ such as a drain (which I already had in place but they dug up) and a matching water outlet cover.



The design was chosen by them asking me to google block paving designs and no contact was made with me about how they were going to do it. 2 weeks later when they finally finished they phoned me every day (sometimes twice a day) asking for payment which they insisted be cash despite saying they accept card on the website and hence took me a few days to get that much money out. They also promised to do some touch up jobs around the water drain which they have never mentioned again. I am yet to receive an invoice for the work despite endless promises that it is ‘coming tomorrow’.

On top of this, their rubbish was all put in my domestic bin and my front door and windows all have dust and cement spray up the edges, they made no effort to clean this off when they had finished.

If you want your drive to be a building site for 2 weeks and then not get a receipt (and so no way of them honouring this mystery ‘15 year works guarantee’) then go ahead but if I had my time again I’d use a better company. Maybe if they spent less time putting advertisement boards up everywhere and more time paving drives we’d all have a better experience. More...
