I’ve been having guitar lessons at the Ipswich Guitar School for almost a year now, after having a free taster session. Richard is very patient and tailors the tuition to the individual student. The lessons are relaxed and fun, with plenty of opportunities to learn alongside others. The school concert was also a brilliant experience. I recommend the school to anyone who wants to learn guitar in a chilled out, student focused way. More...

At 62 I decided that if I wanted to fulfil my bucket list ambition of playing a guitar then I had better start now.Not only is Richard teaching me to play but his no pressure reassuring attitude keeps me coming back. My partner was so impressed by my progress that she decided to join in as well so we now have a hobby that we can enjoy together.Learning to play with Ipswich guitar school never feels like taking lessons or classes, it is much more like visiting a friend and having a good time and time just flies by. The learning almost feels as if it is happening by accident as it is so well structured and delivered which hides the time and skill Richard puts into planning and delivering lessons that match our ability and the amount of time we have been able to practice. We never feel silly if we fail to grasp something first time.I have no hesitation in recommending the school as I know you will not be disappointed. More...

Wherever you are on your guitar journey - from beginner to advanced - if you want to improve (and fast) then get yourself to Ipswich Guitar School. Richard's method of teaching is fantastic - I have played guitar on and off (more off :) ) for 20 odd years, and have learned more the last year I have been at the school than I had in all that previous time. And the student gigs are fantastic :) More...

Richard's guitar school is a wonderful place to improve guitar playing. His holistic style with no pressure attitude gives you the freedom and encouragement to learn in a truly unique way. I couldn't recommend him enough.

Couldn't recommend Richard more if I had to. He has taken my playing to another level but more importantly my music theory knowledge and overall confidence in myself and in my own ability. I've met lots of incredible people who I now consider good friends. I cant wait for sundays to roll around to have another hour (or more) at the school. OH AND THE DEAL BREAKER.. THE CONCERTS AND PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE EVERY YEAR WITH A FULL BAND. More...

Started playing guitar in 2012, was introduced to Richard and been with the school ever since. Very beneficial for any grade of player, whether you've just started or been playing for a while I couldn't recommend it anymore, definitely THE BEST in the region.

Richard is teaching both of my children to play. Classes are relaxed and inclusive (both myself and another parent join in to do bass and some additional guitar in the group lessons), and Richard has a remarkable ability connect with children and get them to understand the guitar. In addition, students are given the chance to perform in a live setting. My oldest (9) has already played 3 shows (2 via the school and 1 outside) this summer, and the confidence gained from these opportunities can really be seen in his progress. More...

Started learning guitar at Ipswich guitar school with Richard in February as a complete beginner having 2 lessons a month and only expected to be playing a few songs in my bedroom or maybe at family parties by Christmas. 4 months later I had surpassed my expectations and played 'starman' & 'heart of gold' as part of the student band on stage in front of a audience at the yearly student concert. I was so excited by what I had achieved in such a short time I immediately joined the school full time and now enjoy weekly group lessons in the school studio. If you are thinking of learning guitar don't hesitate, the students are friendly and Richards easy going style with have you playing and on stage at the next student concert before you ever thought possible. See you there. More...

I'd been playing guitar for the best part of 20 years and had reached that all too familiar plateau. Having had a couple of teachers over the years I was a little sceptical as to whether somebody different could help me advance any further. That was nearly 3 years ago, I'm so glad I got in touch with Rich, within 2 lessons I could already see/hear a difference in my playing and through some pain, grit and determination, finally got rid of some bad habits. His teaching style is very fluid, allowing him to explain theory and techniques to all levels of experience. I would thoroughly recommend Ipswich Guitar School at all. More...

As Richard is one of my luminaries I am of course proud of what he has achieved. He was 12 when he first came to me I knew he would do well. After 3 years he quickly moved onto Guitar College and cut his way into the Guitar music industry with ease and quickly and he has now produced the best Guitar school in the region. Well done Richard. More...
