About

Offering Wing Chun Kung Fu lessons

Wing Chun is a balanced martial art which merits itself on being simple, direct and economic in its approach. Although it is a fighting art, fundamentally I teach it as a self-defence. It is a short distance close range system, which focuses on developing internal power that enables you to produce efficient low kicks, punches, palm strikes, elbows, sweeps, controlling and trapping techniques.

I can hugely recommended this club! I joined Sifu Molly’s class about 6 months ago and have been warmly welcomed by her and the rest of the class. I kick-boxed for a few years when younger (but that was >20 years ago!) and, wanting to get back into a martial art (particularly a more cerebral one that didn’t require kicking above the waist!). I spent quite a while researching types of martial art and then clubs. Wing Chun ticks all the boxes for me - it has the right combination of ‘internal’ practice with a scarily effective physical element. Sifu Molly puts a huge amount of effort into her teaching and the class development - there are now several levels of experience in the class and all are looked after. Various options are available - I started with some private 1-to-1 lessons to get a basic understanding of the first form and now continue these once a month coupled with the weekly lessons. She also runs monthly small group weekend seminars which allow a bit more time to practice techniques. Sifu puts an enormous energy into getting all her students to advance as fast as they are able. Unlike many other Martial Arts clubs - there is a large concentration on the internal element of the art which translates into all aspects of ones life, improving calmness and confidence. and did I mention there is homework!! I would gladly recommend Ip Man Wing Chun Bristol to everyone (as I have already done and will keep doing so). The atmosphere is amazing and everyone that visits the classes is very friendly and humble. I am so glad that I was introduced to the intricacy of Wing Chun by Sifu Molly as she is very experienced and does not spare any of her personal time and energy to pass on her knowledge to her students. The way that Kung Fu is thought here is not only for its self-defence traits but also as a way of internal betterment/development and self-discovery. It has definitely helped me to establish better balance in my life and will hopefully help me to keep that balance for the future. Thank you for everything Sifu! More...

This club is fantastic. At 40+ and no martial arts experience this club took me in and are training me in the incredible art of Wing Chun. Sifu Molly is so good at helping and showing you what you need to learn and combining it with the minute details that make all of the difference. To me its more than a club, its like one big family. 6 stars :) More...

As a newcomer to martial arts, I was apprehensive as to what to expect from starting wing chun classes, but the friendly, welcoming, supportive nature of the IMWCB school and its members soon put me at ease and my fears aside. Sifu Molly Jones imparts her great knowledge of the art to the class with focus and discipline, whilst her humour and warmth keep the learning environment relaxed and enjoyable. She makes every one at all levels feel supported and listened to and is generous with her time, energy and advice. As someone who struggles with mental health issues and a history of back trouble, using the ideas of wing chun to also build up self defence and resilience for our physical and mental health makes a lot of sense to me. In the few months I’ve been attending Molly’s school, I’ve been struck by the elegance, simplicity and efficiency of the wing chun system and love how its ideas can also extend far beyond the martial, and help us to become more balanced, aware and spiritually connected human beings. I feel very grateful to be a part pf it, thanks Sifu! More...

My son joined the Blackpool wing Chun Association just over two years ago , he was experiencing some bullying in school & he went within himself , so I took the decision to look for a self defence club & GM Samual Kwoks class was highly recommended, the instructors & club members welcomed my son into the class & brought him out of his shell his confidence came back & he travelled to the Spain training camp in 2018 where he got to meet & train with other wing chun brothers/ sisters from around the world , he got the chance to take part in the Chinese New Year celebrations last year and perform a wing chun demonstration with the local unicorns , I would highly recommend the class to anyone not only do you learn an intelligent form of self defence discipline & respect ✊ most importantly you are welcomed like family making wing chun friends / brothers / sisters .
