Took my son here over the weekend to get some guidance on how to start him with learning magic. First of all, the shop is also a little museum honoring Houdini, so it was interesting to read info & see artifacts. The people in the shop were awesome - from Nick who works there to others who were simply hanging out practicing - all were very welcoming, attentive & informative. Since my son is just starting out, it was great for him to see others in action & have them doing tricks for him and encouraging him to learn. He got some cards to start with & my friend who practices magic & hangs out there taught him some things while we were there. He actually learned his 1st card trick! Overall, it was all a very positive experience & I do believe it helped peak his interest. These guys know their stuff. I called today looking for a set of books for my dad and all I had to go on was “it’s about magic and I think there are seven of them. ” They instantly knew what I was talking about and quickly pointed me in the right direction. Bonus, their website had them for cheaper than Amazon.

Wonderful but small card/magic shop + mini Houdini Museum! Super friendly staff demonstrate card tricks and will offer pointers for the novice shopper. The place was a little difficult to find but definitively was worth the search. The shop is a gem to discover. They charge no admission fee and gave me a free tour upon request. Nick was very friendly and helpful. He showed us some tricks and taught our son a new magic trick. It has a very interesting display of Houdini artifacts. Very classy place.

Right when we walked in the worker, Nick, was extremely funny, engaging, and entertaining. Not only does it have a very wide selection of magic, but it also has a Houdini museum and lots of other amazing things inside.

An institution in the New York Magic scene. They have a great shop with magicians that will actually do tricks for you! The front of their store is actually the Houdini Museum and looks like something out of a movie!

First time going to this store. It was a little hard to find at first, you have to go in the sports plaza building and take the elevator up to the third floor. Fantasma is a Magic shop and Houdini museum. Good place to go for magic supplies and new tricks. Some times they sell out of items due to how busy they are, but that doesn't take away from the magic shop visit experience (live demos).

Great little find. We had three kids 8, 12, 15. They all enjoy magic. Got entertained by the person behind the counter. Neat little shop with lots of houdini memorabilia and items in all price ranges.

The best place on Earth! Hidden away off 7th Ave is a magical oasis filled with fascinating magic memorabilia and most importantly,Nick Padilla, master magician and amazing person. Nick showed us an astounding array of tricks and then helped our son find the kits he needed to do his favorites. All the staff were amazing and it was like hanging out with exceptionally cool, exceptionally talented friends. We drove all the way from Woodstock NY and will definitely do it again and again.
