About

Hello,

We create and bring to life beautiful layered interiors, in muted sophisticated palettes, referencing the type of property and its location, and the style of the client. Every project is a unique combination of client brief, aesthetic style, the property type and its location - it's a pleasure to see where each new project may lead.

Q&As

Well, each project, and each client, have different requirements, but broadly, the each project goes through the same stages, namely
A. meeting the client, seeing the project, and taking a brief as to what's being sought, both aesthetically and practically. This meeting is free.
B. putting together ideas, or a concept, for the project, including floor plans, and designs
C. once the general direction is signed off, sorting out the budget, the details of what's required in specific spaces etc
D. designing any cabinetry and fittings, organising construction works where applicable, sourcing the items for the scheme, organising all of the trades and suppliers, and project managing the build
E. installation of the scheme following completion of the construction or other works
F. final styling
We show examples of this on our website.

It's important to select a designer who shares an aesthetic with you, in order to end up with the best results. Our style is quite mixed, but isn't traditional. We find ourselves working on projects with a blend of items, usually 20th Century, from the 40's onwards, doing quite glamorous schemes, mixing antiques with levels of modern comfort, and high tech environments, in properties that range from Tudor Manor Houses, to striking contemporary new builds.

I'm very lucky to do this job! It's hard to choose what's most enjoyable. It's very exciting to meet new clients, see new projects, and think of all the things that could happen in those spaces. It's also amazing to visit the shows in Milan, New York and Paris, where all the best of interior design is shown. There's also the fun of spatial planning, which is like a puzzle, to get the best from a space, and then actually reshaping spaces. Seeing how excited clients get as the projects start to come into reality is great, and they can start to think of living in the spaces we've created. Sometimes, when you're working very closely on a project for months, or even years, it's hard to see it from a distance as it completes, you're still looking for the faults, anything that may need correcting or could be improved, so it's very nice to revisit some time later, catch up with your client, and see the space being used, and you can then appreciate it better, and share in their pleasure in the space.

I've always been obsessed by interior design, even when I was a lawyer, renovating properties, visiting design and trade fairs etc. Eventually I retrained and changed career, and, as I was a partner in my old law firm, it never really occurred to me not to work for myself. I've loved every minute.

Well, subject to the aesthetic point I make above, hopefully because of a passion and love for this work, combined with very in depth knowledge of design, and a strong practical streak (that organises the builds, the timetable and the budget) arising from my legal background. You need to be able to master the routine stuff to make the great stuff happen!!
