Inspiration Academy

I'm not sure why all the positive reviews are "filtered" and only the bad on made it through. But hopefully mine won't be filtered! My first impression of this dance studio was that it was like a breath of fresh air. Everyone is nice, the owners are super friendly, the place is bright and cheerful, and the studios are huge with some fancy floors that are better for the dancers, or so it was explained to me! There are kids books in the waiting area and kids movies playing down the hall. There are big changing rooms, so the girls aren't cramped in the bathroom. We've only been going to the studio for one month, but you can learn a lot in a month. My young daughter says she loves her class (the most important aspect of any dance studio, in my opinion) and she's able to show me what they are learning. I've heard from other moms that this studio is also excellent for the older dancers as far as teaching techniques, etc. But for now I'm just happy that my daughter is learning to love dance and I'm not stuck in a freezing, tiny waiting room (See my review of Music in Motion) :) More...

We are relatively new to Inspiration Academy having only been there since November, however, it has been long enough to offer a true assessment of this wonderful studio. I am one that will, both compliment and criticize, a business accurately online to assist others in finding the place that is right for them. And I did take a star away for a reason. This place is definitely right for my family. My daughter is only six and had already experienced a not so enjoyable time at another studio in Virginia Beach, so I was quite reluctant in signing her up for dance anywhere, but her love for dance won that battle. I found Inspiration Academy online first and decided to go see what they offered. From the moment we walked in we were pleased. The friendly greeting and wonderful tour that followed, made my mind up to at least try the free trial period they offer. After the first trial class, I registered my daughter. She was, once again, very happy. Since that first week back in November, my daughter has found her place. She is treated with respect, has already learned so much, and has a number of new friends. The only complaint I have is that there is quite a bit of clutter in the back area of the studio. It appears to be props, decorations, and such, however in a facility that is kept so nice and clean, that area, needs some attention. It really warranted a half star removal but that wasn't an option. Other than that, we have experienced nothing else negative about this studio, and I would recommend it to everyone. More...

My daughter has danced at several studios in Hampton Roads but I think we have made our last move. We have checked out several studios in the area and they are either all about the company team, or are ridiculous in price, or could care less if your child grows or learns within the studio unless of course you are spending extra money every month for private lessons. Inspiration Academy isn't like that. They care about each child and encourages each child to continue to grow and get better in their dance. They are also the only studio I found that has true professional dance floors. Most studios say they have dance floors but they are nothing more than regular wooden floors or tile floors you would find in your kitchen or dining room. True professional dance floors help prevent the injuries to knees, ankles, and hips that a lot dancers suffer from when dancing on wooden or tile floors. It is noce to know here my daughters chances of injury is reduced and she is getting a quality education. More...

THIS STUDIO IS AMAZING. MY DAUGHTER NOT ONLY FOUND A STUDIO CAPABLE OF TEACHING HER PROPER TECHNIQUE BUT A SECOND FAMILY. THE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ARE ACCPETING AND SUPPORTIVE OF EACH OTHER . THE CHILDREN ARE GIVEN EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO EXCELL AND ADVANCE BEYOND THEIR CLASS LEVELS AND REACH PERSONAL GOALS WITHIN THEIR DANCE. This place is AMAZING! The best ever. The teachers are awesome and the place is always so clean. I can't say enough about how much my daughter has learned and she is so happy. She can't wait until it's time for class each week. And, we feel so at home here. Everybody just cares so much. Simply put, they are the best that Hampton Roads has to offer! My daughter danced for a number of years at different local studios, and though each had a few good things to offer (some had nothing good to offer), none of them had what we were looking for, until we found Inspiration Academy. They are truly a fantastic school, with superb instructors and teaching methods, excellent prices, and owners that really do care and love the students. My child has had so much fun at this studio, and learned leaps and bounds over what she learned else where. Sadly we are a military family and have had to leave the area, but I want to thank Inspiration Academy for everything they have done for us and given to my daughter...Our four years there will be ones we won't soon forget. I absolutely recommend them and if you don't try them out, you might miss out on something incredible. As for any negative comments you may see on the net, it may be personal disgruntlement, because I never saw anything negative or anyone treated unfairly in this school in the four years we were there, and we were there a lot! This studio is absolutely the best!!! My daughter has been dancing for 12 years, here for four years, and this is by far the best we have ever seen. The studio is kept very clean, the program very organized, tuition cost is very affordable, and the staff is very friendly and cordial. The classes are taught by excellent teachers. My only gripe is that they sometimes don't start when they are supposed to, sometimes. The most important thing to me is that my daughter is not only very happy, she has also learned more here in four years than she did in the other eight else where. I have danced at this facility since the place has been opened. Within those 5 years I honestly could say I wouldn't choose any other studio to dance at. The facility is very professional and instructors are the best in Virginia Beach. They are so caring for the students and very educated in what they do. Not only do I enjoy every class I take but I love knowing that I'm also progressing as well as having so much fun. Once I walked through the doors I instantly became part of a family not just another student like some studios. Most times my mother has to drag me out because I just never want to leave. I have been dancing at Inspiration for a few years now and competed with the company this past year. I enjoyed dancing at this studio more than any other studio, and I loved being part of the company. Everyone at the studio is like one giant family and opens up to anyone who joins. It's amazing how everyone fits in so well no matter what. Anyone and everyone is welcome, and I highly suggest for new students to try it out. There are classes for everyone (all ages and styles), plus art, theater, and music classes! The studio is clean, well organized, and an extremely safe and friendly environment. Unfortunately, I recently graduated high school and will be moving on to college, but I will never for get my years spent dancing with great friends!! I will miss the studio greatly, but I plan to come visit often. It is not a place one can easily forget. I encourage all dancers to try out this studio to feel the same, special bond that I have. We love this place. My child has taken classes at Inspiration Academy and has attended their summer camp for the past two summers as well, and we can't say enough about how great it is. This summer camp has so many different activities that she never wants to leave and when I pick her up, she can hardly stop talking about how much fun she had. If you ask her what her favorite thing is-she says EVERYTHING! We have sent her to several different camps in the past and now all she wants to do is spend her summer here. I love this dance school. its not just a dance school, they offer many classes. my daughter is in creative movement and music class. Its a well kept and clean facility. The staff is extremley friendly and love the kids. The pricing is the best i've seen so far, very reasonable. my only negative thing would be that if you're the first class of the day dont expect to EVER start on time. the building doesnt get opened until the time that the first class of the day should start. so that leaves the teachers running around trying to get things ready. both of my daughters classes start 15 min late. but and are eager to end on time. so we lose 15 min each class. other than that its a great school. they're lucky their prices are good. and they are really friendly cause I am a stickler for things being on time. I don't usually take the time to write reviews but thought I should share something possitive with others. This is an excellent dance school. Well, it's not just a dance studio, they have theater classes and art classes. You can even take voice lessons or piano and guitar lessons. I don't have to be a taxi cab driver anymore. My daughter can take the dance lessons she loves and also enjoys art and theater and can't wait to start her voice lessons in the fall. The place is wonderful (not the shoebox type places we have visited). There is an amazing staff and they REALLY care about the kids. My daughter has been there for almost two years and has learned twice as much as I could have ever imagined, not to mention how she looks forward to going every week. I have to say they are very affordable (not cheap though), no hidden fees and top quality costumes. My daughter is able to take all of the classes she wants without me having to take out a second mortgage to pay for it. We love it and are glad to share. More...

This is a fantastic place to learn and grow. It is a huge place, always clean and an really friendly staff. The students (both young and not so young) learn more than just dance. They offer theatre and art classes and some of my daughters friends take voice and piano lessons there. There is a real emphasis placed on learning while having fun. Yes, it is still supposed to be fun! My daughter has never been happier. The prices are very fair (no extra this and extra that--without notice) they have always had great quality costumes and the show last year was beautiful. We were so proud of all of the performers. They shared with the audience all that they had learned though the year and my family sat with astonishment. The improvement in such a short time was unbelievable!!! Truly talented teachers. If you want your child to go to a school that has truly opened it's doors for not only the teaching of the arts but also for the caring, loving, and family environment this is the creme de la creme in this area. My two children, whom are not in the company, have learned so much, and are excited and look forward to going to dance class each week and leave every time with smiles on their faces. The owners go above and beyond what they should to assure an enjoyable experience for everyone. As they are one of the least expensive in town, they offer much more than anyone, at a facility that is second to none.
